What’s that supposed to mean? Can you work on focus mitts? There’s always a risk of getting hit by accident. Of course you can skip sparring at any gym since most have recreational groups. You’ve got plenty of solid clubs in NYC. Whereabouts are you located?
There’s also one over at Remiza—the tram junction by the river. There's a club there called UFK Novi Chicago, even though they aren't actually in downtown... 😁
Then you've got Black Dragon over at Mladosti. It's right next to the Best club and those basketball courts by the embankment.
I'm looking for a sport for my 6-year-old. I wanted to sign him up for judo, but the schedule at the local gym doesn't work for us. Now I'm looking at aikido, which I hadn't even considered before... Do you recommend aikido for kids, and what age is best? My 4-year-old daughter might want to join too...
thanks 🙂
Not sure what your actual goal is. If it’s just for fun, aikido is fine, but maybe wrestling would be a better pick for martial arts.
There are plenty of judo clubs around town, so it shouldn't be an issue if you don't mind driving an extra five minutes.
They were trained in old-school police jujitsu before switching over to BJJ. They aren't getting daily rounds with five black belts since they're busy teaching instead.
Nobody’s catching him in two years... they’d need at least four. Of course, it’s easier for them when he’s pulling double sessions every single day, while I’m just hitting three workouts a week.
Striking? Boxing, Muay Thai, kickboxing Grappling? Rolling on the mats in a gi? BJJ Leg locks in a gi? Judo All of the above? MMA Self-defense? Krav Maga

I’ve wanted to learn at least the basics forever, and I finally told myself, "enough with the 'tomorrow' talk." My mom used to train in Taekwondo back in the day. Maybe something like that? Will it be an issue being in my twenties instead of a student? Are there actually any good classes here in Savannah? I know there's a Krav Maga club nearby that runs Taekwondo sessions, but it seems geared toward kids rather than adults. Let me know what you think!
