How did Bruce Lee die? in Martial Arts & Combat Sports ·
I’ll just say what I have to say, for God's sake...🙄

Look, Eyal Yanilov is the head instructor...
My bad, I misspoke... I don't actually know the specifics regarding who officially issues the certification, but I do know that if you want that diploma, you have to go all the way to Israel...
As for who specifically signs off on it, I haven't a clue...
But that doesn't change the reality that the guy at the convention center isn't authorized... he just isn't... 😉

If you're looking for something that will quickly prepare you for common street encounters, I might suggest Krav Maga. You could check out www.kravmaga.com or maybe just do a quick Google search; I'm not entirely sure. If I recall correctly, someone runs a school over by the convention center.

From what I know through reliable channels, the guy at the State Fair isn't actually qualified to be an instructor... The only person who can hand out instructor certifications is Eyal Yanilov over in Israel.
And I'm certain the fellow at the State Fair doesn't have that credential...

Bryan Brown said:So. I’ve been having this little back-and-forth with myself lately, and I think I finally landed on a conclusion. I want to pick up some kind of sport or martial art, but here’s the catch: I’m looking at this strictly through the lens of self-defense. You know, something that actually works when things go south—fast, brutal, and efficient enough to handle one guy or a whole group of them. I’m not really interested in all that deep, flowery philosophy stuff. Just give me the moves that work. And honestly? It would be a nice bonus if the training was a total grind physically. I need something that’s going to tear me apart a bit just to build up the body and keep my health in check.
Alright, you experts out there, got any suggestions that fit the bill? 🙂 Thanks a bunch!

You could look into Krav Maga right here in town... mostly... But listen, any skill bound by strict rules isn't nearly as effective as something designed for a real street fight... like Krav Maga or maybe Jeet Kune Do. There is a massive difference between what happens inside a ring and what happens outside of it. When you make your choice, keep that distinction in mind...
