Need advice on buying a katana in Martial Arts & Combat Sports ·
I don't think we need to get carried away here. This is a high-quality katana, plain and simple, and you can even pick up full maintenance kits right there in the same shop. Besides, if those ancient blades could survive all these centuries, I'm sure this one will hold its own just fine...

If you have the budget for decor, then go for it.

A handful of people on here have picked up katanas from ReplicaArt, though most were just the budget models intended for practice.
From what I gather, they’re pretty happy with them.

And honestly, if your goal is purely aesthetic, you'll likely know which one catches your eye best.
Given that we're discussing relatively expensive pieces of weaponry, I find it hard to believe any of the options mentioned are actually poor quality.

Maybe those ninjas will give you more insight if they ever decide to make an appearance.

Are you really considering spending that much money only to buy from WKC Solingen? 🙄

For that kind of cash, you could get an actual Japanese blade... for example:

Or maybe this one:

Then you'd actually have a legitimate display piece.

Don't forget you'll also need a cleaning kit—that's non-negotiable. Otherwise, you end up only wiping the blade while ignoring everything beneath the handle. Don't drop that much money on something mediocre, especially when you're looking for the real deal...

May I pose a brief inquiry?

I have developed a profound interest in Bagua (Pa Kua), which led me to wonder if anyone here might know of a location in the greater New York City area where one could actually study it.

I haven't had much luck uncovering any leads on my own, though perhaps someone else in this circle has been more successful in their search.

Much appreciated. 😉

Reach out to Zlatko directly and have a proper chat with him about his training regimen; honestly, that’s really your only viable way forward here. It would also be quite wise to check out the other club—the Bujinkan group—and I’d suggest you simply ignore any petty internal squabbles between those two. Just weigh them both up and pick whichever one resonates more with you. If I were personally looking to dive into Ninjutsu, I’d probably head over to Genbukan, but at the end of the day, the decision is entirely yours once you’ve seen how they both operate.

P.S. Having just a phone number and an address should be more than sufficient to get things moving initially. 😉
