The claim is they're a hundred times better and safer than those cheap boil-and-bite ones you find at a drugstore. Can you even find these in the States? What’s the actual terminology used here? And what am I looking at for a price?

If you guys have tried one, please, give me a recommendation.

I’ve been browsing, and prices seem to jump from $100 all the way up to $100. I can't tell if there's a real difference between them. Is more expensive always better, or are we all just paying for fancy packaging when they're basically the same thing?

Also, these things all have some kind of plastic protrusion on the front or back. It looks incredibly rigid. Honestly, it gives me pause—it feels like it might just chafe my gums raw once I actually put it in. I'm skeptical about all this "superior protection" talk until I can get my hands on one and see for myself.

Then there's this one. It looks like a standard, run-of-the-mill guard costing about $6.75, except it says Venum on it. No extra bells or whistles, just basic rubber in two colors. Is it actually worth the money?
