Weird ways to preserve "humanity" in the future in Hobbies & Leisure ·
I was reading about some niche space exploration plans the other day, and it got me thinking about what we actually want to carry with us if we ever become a multi-planetary species. It’s easy to think about sending hard drives full of data or high-tech equipment, but is that really the "soul" of our culture?

I’ve always felt that the stuff that actually defines us are the things that are a bit messy, loud, or even slightly annoying to people who don't get it. If we sent a perfect digital replica of a symphony to the stars, would it even mean anything? There's something about a live, physical performance—even one as polarizing as certain folk traditions—that feels much more "human" than a clean file on a server.

It makes me wonder: if we had one shot to represent our entire species to the unknown, would we send our greatest scientific achievements, or would we send the weird, loud, and beautiful stuff that makes us unique? What do you guys think should be the "cultural starter kit" for the cosmos?

Hey ladies!

Here’s my experience:
I wear a 46 up top and a 46-48 on bottom, which makes shopping an absolute nightmare.
Usually, I find something at Target—maybe a bag, a dress, or a tee. S. Oliver isn't bad; they have decent shirts, and I actually scored some business skirts there.
Every once in a while (on those rare Fridays), I stumble upon something at Mango, though I hate even stepping foot in there. It's way too overhyped and the quality is mediocre at best.
A few times a year, I make a trip to the mall specifically for H&M, but it totally depends on the season. Last year I grabbed a ton, but this year I only found one summer dress because their cuts have become bizarre lately. There's a Big Is Beautiful in the suburbs, but everything I try on there fits like a sack, so no thanks.
Honestly, I'm already dreading the hunt for summer shorts. I haven't been able to find any for years; I'm seriously thinking about just giving up.

I really wonder why none of these "fashion geniuses" have thought to scale up production during this recession. American designers? Everywhere you look, it's a size 8.

To brands like Diesel—your marketing experts can try all they want, but if you don't carry my size, you aren't getting my money.🙂
