I’m honestly reaching out to appeal this ban I got, which feels totally unjustified since it was flagged as spam.
I wasn't spamming anyone or anything; I literally just asked a single question within a thread.
The thing is, Sauron basically flooded my entire thread with junk and started tearing into me like I was some clueless kid trying to play around with Linux distros.
I didn't start the topic to brag, either—I actually wanted to offer some guidance to others navigating the Gentoo community. And for the record, I'm not some novice; I work as a security developer within the Gentoo ecosystem and have authored four different security scripts.
Honestly, great job on the "advanced user" forum modeling here. Seriously, kudos to the mods.
Just take a look at how much actual spam is floating around elsewhere on the site.
It seems like certain users in that subforum can get away with anything, while others get banned without any real cause. Is this really supposed to be a civilized community?
It feels more like a dog-eat-dog hierarchy. I haven't forgotten my ban, by the way, especially since you guys are running a Linux environment when security is literally my field of expertise...
Go ahead, ban me again if you want, I don't really care... but you might want to hold onto my IP address; you're going to need it eventually.

I mean, the guy was honestly just asking for a definition of trolling
but I was thinking to myself 🤷

Haha, I didn't even realize I had a strike on my record...
I guess I earned it over time. Honestly, I wasn't really dwelling on the penalty itself, just thinking about my posts, but it doesn't matter much
There’s no need to go back and remove the strike; I didn't get it for no reason. As long as I can still jump in and post on the forum, I’m fine either way—whether I have zero strikes or fifty, it's all the same to me.
At the end of the day, I deserved the warning.

Honestly, I’d almost prefer getting a ban than having my posts just vanish into thin air...
I went into the alternative subreddit to ask how to figure out my rising sign, and the post disappeared instantly.
Then, in that same sub, someone else comments saying their moon is orbiting Jupiter and their birth year is completely off...
I don't mean to be a buzzkill, but I think it's because zodiac signs aren't even accurate anyway—like, they're missing the thirteenth sign to actually complete the circle. And then, boom, the post is gone.
I just don't get it. If this is a space for alternative views, is asking about a rising sign really considered "spam" among all those fish enthusiasts?
Dual booting on one PC? :/ in Software ·
You can actually get a PC to run just like a Mac, pretty much everything except Boot Camp
Just a heads-up, you really want to be careful here. A PC has always been the best way to run a cracked version
Look, my current setup is a bit of a mess—I’ve got Windows XP, Windows 7, Gentoo, LFS, Mac OS, and OpenBSD all ready to go on my boot drive. If I can offer one little piece of friendly advice: whatever you decide to do, install Mac OS on that PC first before you touch anything else...
The trick is to pop in a Mac installation disc, wipe all your existing partitions, and use the Mac installer to create two partitions, then throw Mac OS onto the first one. Once you're sure the Mac side boots up fine using a Windows boot disc, format the second partition to NTFS and install Windows there. After you boot back into Windows, you just use the command prompt to activate the Mac partition, restart, and if things aren't working quite right, you just install Chameleon to the MBR. If it works smoothly, you just use it from there and you've got yourself a perfect dual boot
And honestly, it works perfectly without needing any extra fancy tools
