Dangerous contact lens solutions! in Health ·
I've got some Opti-Free Express from Alcon... and I actually just picked up a new Complete case two days ago too. Honestly, I'm just tossing everything—new lenses and all—into the trash right now. It's a good thing I have plenty of backups at home, both the contacts and the Opti-Free solution.
New drug formularies in Health ·
Take a closer look... there are protected names involved. A lot of medications that used to require a co-pay have moved to the basic coverage tier, but since it's just a supplemental change or a full waiver, people haven't really noticed the shift.
It’s true, though—there are some total absurdities, like an opioid meant for terminal patients ending up on a supplemental list, or an antibiotic specifically for kids being categorized weirdly...

Regarding that specific drug you mentioned, specialists often write prescriptions for things that aren't even covered here, or sometimes stuff that isn't even FDA-approved in the States...

granitebadger25 thanks... though I'm honestly counting down the minutes until Monday when they can measure the diameter. The redness seems to line up right with the swelling, and it's shaped like an oval.
Back when it was the old Democratic Party, I wasn't nearly as stressed out, so I didn't pay nearly as much attention. Now? I'm checking on him every thirty minutes.

granitebadger25, thanks for the exhausting explanation... I just gotta know, what exactly is this "cytokine profile" thing?

Scott Allen10, thanks... things make a lot more sense now, and I feel a bit better about it. But honestly, I can't wrap my head around the fact that we're still dealing with TBC in the 21st century. I just really hope everything turns out fine for everyone, especially for my little ones...
Thanks again.

I’m still just not getting this... my old Democratic Party tests all came back positive, yet they never got vaccinated. Even the little one, who was in contact with them about a year and a half ago, tested positive without being vaccinated. Now he has this red spot about 5 or 6 mm wide, and I can see it's slightly raised.
I checked an older one's medical records, and back in 2nd grade, the diameter was 6mm and he wasn't vaccinated—same thing in 7th grade when it hit 10mm.
I am completely lost here, and honestly pretty terrified since the incubation period is 2 to 4 weeks...

Alright, let’s cut to the chase. A teacher was subbing at my kids' school about three weeks ago, and now she’s sitting in a hospital bed because she tested positive for tuberculosis. The school gave all the kids a PPD skin test this past Friday... and I'm trying to wrap my head around what happens next depending on whether they come back positive or negative. From what I recall, if they test positive, there's no vaccine, but if it's negative, they get the shot... but I don't get how anyone can actually tell if one of the kids is already infected?

...it used to hold 5% and 10% market share...but you can't even find it on the shelves here anymore
How do I quit smoking? in Health ·
Mary_1963 said:Go take a stroll through the pulmonary ward at the local hospital. That’ll kill your craving for a smoke, I promise! 😁 Seriously though, most people quit because they're terrified for their lives. You need a massive reality check to make it stick!

FACTS....that was my biggest motivator...just pure fear of what could happen...I've known smoking was bad for a long time, but you don't look at things the same way in your twenties as you do when you're hitting your late thirties.

I mean, I've tried this so many times before—sometimes even going months at a time—and then I just snap and light up, and the whole cycle starts all over again....
Has anyone actually done it? Like, successfully? HOW??

It’s possible, you just have to actually want it. You have to make a pact with yourself and find some real motivation. For me, I've been quitting for two years now... doing it bit by bit, on and off. Honestly, I didn't even deal with major cravings at first, just that stupid, nagging feeling of "why would I EVER light up again?"... and... and for a while, I just talked about it constantly and drove everyone crazy... but then I stopped talking about it, stopped buying packs, and just smoked whenever they happened to be around (my husband was still smoking back then).
There were times I wouldn't touch a cigarette for three months, then a friend would drop by for coffee and I'd end up lighting one up next to her, only to go right back to nothing the next day...
Now, I can't even remember the last time I lit up (I guess none of my smoker buddies have invited me out for coffee lately).... truth be told, I've put on maybe 8 or 10 pounds that I really can't seem to shake... but I guess the body just needs time to adjust to the change (and it's not like I'm eating more than usual)!?

Btw, my husband quit cold turkey six months ago after smoking over 20 a day... he doesn't even look at them anymore...
