I've been dealing with bronchitis since I was five years old. It all started with some pretty nasty allergies that were a nightmare for a hyper kid. Back then, therapy was basically just Dihalar syrup and using Ventolin whenever things got rough. I stuck with the Ventolin routine all the way through until now, but by the time puberty hit, that bronchitis had basically evolved into full-blown asthma. For two years, I was on the Advair Diskus 250, which definitely helped me breathe easier, but I ended up quitting it on my own because of the side effects... I kept getting this white powder buildup on my tongue and in my throat, which eventually turned into fungal issues. So, I was constantly dealing with Mycostatin and just a general sense of misery. It was gross, plus my throat felt perpetually dry and I was getting sick all the time. Once I stopped taking it, my condition actually got worse after about a year. They put me back on Seretide for a bit, but now I’ve finally been on Alvesco for over a year, and man, I am beyond happy with it. Total lifesaver! My attacks have dropped significantly and I don't have that weird buildup in my mouth anymore. 🙂
The only downside is that I'm in Canada and Alvesco isn't even on the standard drug list here, so it's super expensive... but honestly, it's worth every penny...
Also, during the time I was taking Singulair, it totally wrecked my immune system...

Thanks for sharing your story. I'm also in Canada dealing with the exact same diagnosis. Right now, I'm on Seretide 250 and it really keeps my lungs under control, but I’m having major throat issues: it feels like there’s constant mucus stuck in my throat that irritates me and triggers coughing fits. On the bright side, my spirometry results look like an athlete's. I used Alvesco for two years too, but I still found myself reaching for Ventolin just as often, though I didn't deal with these specific side effects.
Today I got prescribed a new regimen: Flovent 250 Diskus + Singulair, so now I'm torn—should I give this a shot or just stick with Alvesco?
Have you had any throat issues since switching to Alvesco? Also, how long were you on Singulair, and what was your take on it?

I’ve been dealing with allergic asthma since I was a kid, mostly triggered by dust mites and grass pollen.
I’ve been on constant meds since 2000, starting out with Advair Diskus 250, then moving to Advair Diskus 100, followed by Flovent. Then back in 2007, my doctor switched things up to Alvesco, claiming it was the "modern" choice since you only have to take it once a day.

The problem is, ever since I made the jump to Alvesco, I feel like I’m reaching for my Ventolin way more often than I used to, so I’m definitely not feeling the results. To make matters worse, even my Ventolin doesn't seem to hit the spot like it used to.

Is anyone else here using Alvesco? What’s your experience been like?

Look, I’ll give you the real scoop since I actually live with the guy who started this thread. He pretty much covered the basics, but here's my two cents: for me, the teeth didn't even react to external stuff—I could eat sweets or switch between hot and cold drinks without a single twinge. The problem was that the pain was radiating through my entire jaw, so I couldn't pinpoint which specific tooth was the culprit. It was most brutal when I was just sitting still, especially at night. Then, after my "world-renowned" dentist drilled into three different teeth trying to find the source (and guess what? it still hurts), now my wisdom tooth has started acting up whenever I try to chew something
(basically, anytime I bite down). So yeah, I'm officially done with that dentist before she manages to wreck my entire mouth. I'm not looking for medical advice here, just a solid recommendation for a decent dentist. I already spotted two names mentioned, Dr. Ivanković and Dr. V. Vuković, so if anyone has actually been in their chairs, let me know how it went! Thanks everyone, and a huge shoutout to my roommate for kicking this whole thing off!
