Thinking about applying for moderator? in Feedback & Suggestions ·

Personally, I’ve already put my cards on the table. Besides cold hard cash, I'm offering services... you know, things like dog walking, taking out the trash, doing people's grocery shopping, stuff like that. 🙂

From what I can tell, they actually really need some bodyguard services.

Typical moderation—you offer them something they clearly need, and this is how they react... 🤣

Yeah, well, you can't expect much from certain people... 😁

It's because hardly anyone bothers to flip back to the first page to see what a thread is actually about (they just read the last post or the title). It's the same deal when you're scrolling through a PDF to find specific topics, especially when the subforum is sixteen pages deep.

Hey, mods—how about making a list of "top threads" that stay relevant but haven't seen any activity in a while?

(Not trying to give you guys extra work. And I'm probably overstepping too... Just ignore 🤣)

I'm 100% with you on this. Honestly, just lock those threads. If someone actually has something constructive to add to the conversation later on, they can just reach out to a mod to get it reopened.

It’d cut down on the unnecessary penalties, and I bet people would be way happier with that setup...

Thanks, it’s not even that bad 😉

Management - can I throw out a constructive suggestion?

Maybe take all these closed threads and dump them into a separate PDF—call it an Archive or something... It would make things way easier for me, at least, when I'm trying to browse through topics or figure out which ones actually need a response.

Let's face it, nobody's actually sitting there flipping through pages of a massive PDF, especially when some of these things stretch on for 16 pages or more...

Thanks.

Hey, no harm in asking. Everything you guys laid out makes total sense and there's no drama here. I'll try my best to stick to the rules, though I'll probably miss something here and there since, well, I'm still figuring all this out...

And just so we're clear, I wasn't trying to dig up old threads just to vent about some personal grudge, nor was I planning on replying to any topics with nothing but a 👍

Hahahaha..

Anyway, I'm gonna head over to the other side of the forum now..

Someone tell me..

Is there some unwritten rule here against digging up old threads from the archives?

I tried doing that once before and... let's just say not everyone was thrilled about it (and it didn't happen on this site).

I decided to reopen this thread because I couldn't (okay, maybe I rushed a little) find a better spot to ask this, and since this is such a massive forum, I figured you guys would notice my question more easily.

Thanks 😉
