My apologies, everyone—I was away from my computer for a bit.
Nope. Not even close. They basically told me there isn't much they can do to help; apparently, things have just shifted out of alignment, and most people end up stuck with chronic issues. So, unless I completely stop any physical activity involving my chest, back, or upper body 😁, my options are pretty slim—maybe some Advil or a bit of Voltaren cream when the pain gets unbearable.
Honestly, if I had just broken a bone or something—something tangible—at least I’d know where I stood and what the recovery path looked like. With this? It's total uncertainty. There's no clear direction at all.
Eh 😢
It’s been a full year now: I’ll have three days where I feel absolutely fantastic, followed by three days where the pain is just brutal—it's this relentless cycle. And the worst part? I haven't even done anything to aggravate it.
If anyone else out there is going through this same rollercoaster, please reach out—I would truly value hearing about your experiences!
Does anyone here have any firsthand experience with costochondritis—or maybe you know someone who’s dealt with it?
Whether you call it costosternal syndrome, costochondritis, or Tietzov syndrome, the end result is always the same: this intense, sharp pain right in the chest area, centered roughly around the sternum.
Basically, inflammation or swelling kicks in right where the ribs meet the breastbone—the sternum—and man, that pain is absolutely brutal. 🙂
In my case, I think it was triggered by doing thousands of push-ups and pull-ups over the years; that connection point between the ribs, the cartilage, and the sternum just got worn down or damaged. It actually showed up clearly on my MRI, and honestly, I'm starting to fear this might be a chronic issue. 😢😢😢
Is anyone else out there struggling with this exact same thing? What did you do to manage it, and how are you coping day-to-day?
As a former athlete, the idea of a future without sports is... well, it's bearable, but I really don't want it to be my reality.
Any help would be hugely appreciated!
My apologies—I let my emotions get the better of me while typing that out; I’m honestly just reliving the whole trauma all over again right now 😁
Honestly, some Gogs needs to go see a doctor.
Hang in there!
Try feeling your pulse on your left wrist—just at the base of your palm—and see if it feels steady. A normal sinus rhythm should feel like a rhythmic *thump-thump, thump-thump* at regular intervals. Are you noticing anything weird about the pattern? Don't worry if it feels slightly different when you're inhaling or exhaling; just ignore that part.
I actually spent a month in the hospital recently dealing with atrial fibrillation—it’s an arrhythmia where the first thing they ask you is what you've been consuming lately, specifically if you've been drinking. Excessive alcohol can definitely trigger it.
"Plus, whenever I tried to start talking, I’d just freeze mid-sentence; my brain would totally lock up and I couldn't remember a single word I wanted to say. It was like my consciousness and my brain simply weren't functioning the way they were supposed to.
My vision and hearing were completely messed up, too. But honestly, the scariest part was that even after some time had passed—after that initial night when I finally managed to fall asleep and woke up the next day—I still wasn't back to normal. I felt significantly better, sure, but those memory gaps kept happening; one day at work, I legitimately couldn't remember a single thing I had accomplished during my shift.
To make matters worse, things haven't really improved much; I still have this "foggy" feeling in my head, and my sense of spatial awareness is totally warped. It's like that disorienting sensation you get when you sleep for way too long and then suddenly jump out of bed and try to walk around—sort of like a persistent bout of vertigo."
I felt the exact same way during my arrhythmia episodes—the heart just isn't pumping enough blood up to the brain.
Are you still feeling this way right now?
