Elizabeth Mendoza said:Look, every single elite athlete is playing with a stacked deck. It’s just that some of them have heavy hitters pulling strings behind the scenes to keep them on top, while others just aren't that lucky—or maybe they crossed the wrong person and ended up getting screwed over.

Track and field is absolutely crawling with this kind of stuff.

The real issue is that nowadays, everyone seems to be taking things to a total extreme. For instance, there's this lesser-known saga involving mechanical doping in professional cycling.

For those who aren't in the loop:

I have such immense respect for Jan Ulrich—honestly, the guy just wouldn't hand back his Olympic medal.

Everyone was there for everything. ☕

Even if you gave him back everything he lost, Lance Armstrong still wouldn't be considered the greatest in his sport.

Individual Sports - Lance Armstrong (I guess Usain Bolt is his only real competition)

Wait, you're thinking of an individual athlete like Marion Jones?

Soccer—Maradona
Basketball—MJ23
Racing—Senna
Hockey—Gretzky
Water Polo—just a random sport without any true icons
Handball—just a random sport without any true icons

There are plenty of elite, world-class athletes who belong in the absolute upper echelon of their respective sports. However, a true icon can only be one or perhaps two people at most. I have listed the specific individuals who represent icons to me—the greatest of the great. If I were forced to choose just one single name above all others, it would undoubtedly be MJ23.

Man, remember the days when we all cheered for the legendary Finc and his silver arrows? What a ride that was! ☕

What absolute legends they were, considering the graveyard shifts of teams they played for and the caliber of those leagues.

How much did Ayuso actually contribute to that 30+ win season back then? Maybe 6 wins, in my opinion.

Johnson over at Alkar ☕

Is Wayne Gretzky still the GOAT? Or has Sidney Crosby actually surpassed him?

I was just chatting with a guy who’s followed everything from Fagioli and Senna to Prost, Michael Schumacher, and Lewis Hamilton—quite the list! He looked me straight in the eye and insisted that Alain Prost is the absolute greatest of them all. 🤷

Prost or Senna? Or maybe Schumacher?

Elizabeth Mendoza said:At the end of the day, it all boils down to one single question: if you were handed a ticket to see one of these two legends play live, who are you picking? Are you heading to the arena to watch LeBron James or Stephen Curry?

Such a great kid. 🙄

I’d definitely be there for Lakers vs Warriors...

or even Warriors vs Lakers

shadowmarlin22 said:You could argue FC Barcelona actually turned down two icons of that caliber—considering both Diego Maradona and Cristiano Ronaldo were in the mix. ☕

And let's not even get started on Michael Laudrup, Luis Figo, and those kinds of icons! ☕

brightpilot6 said:LeBron James has finally ascended to that elite tier, the one occupied by Michael Jordan. From here on out, it’s all just a matter of nuance, much like those endless debates surrounding Pele-Maradona.

Honestly, when you look at all those legends across different sports, FC Barcelona is probably the only club that actually walked away from one of their own. ☕
