Look, donating organs is a noble move, no question about it. But you don't all need to jump down our throats just because we aren't donors or probably won't be. Don't get me wrong—if someone close to me needs a kidney or bone marrow while I'm still around, I’ll step up in a heartbeat. There's no problem there. But if they're pulling an organ out of my corpse only for it to end up with whoever happens to be at the top of some list (and let's face it, it's often people with connections rather than kids or parents), then absolutely not. I want to know exactly where my parts are going, and I can't control that once I'm gone.
As for Ana Rukavina, hats off to her, may she rest in peace. The idea of creating a stem cell bank is fantastic, and I'll definitely contribute my part to that cause. However, I'm not handing over my blood until they figure out a way to collect it that doesn't involve needles... regardless of how ridiculous that might sound to some people.
