Imitrex really only works if you take it before the migraine actually hits full force. For instance—and I’m speaking from my own experience here—some patients (myself included) start noticing those early warning signs that signal an attack is imminent. If you can catch it early enough and take the Imitrex right then, you might be able to head off the migraine entirely. But, if you miss that window? Well, once it starts, it’s pretty much a downhill slide from there. Just a heads-up on the packaging: one box of Imitrex typically comes with two tablets, which is meant to cover two separate attacks.
