Tips for quitting smoking! in Health ·

Of course, I think you deserve massive credit for quitting smoking. It takes serious willpower and grit. Once someone gets hooked and develops an addiction, we all know how hard it is to break free, no matter how much they realize it's killing them. I’m not sure why you think I’m angry at your perspective (though maybe I should be). You’re entitled to your opinion just like I’m entitled to mine. My only regret is if you walked away thinking that person had to die just for me to quit. Breaking an addiction involves many different turning points. That was simply one of those moments for me. Maybe that's worth reflecting on. Perhaps it's my fault for not explaining myself better, but I didn't want to get bogged down in details and bore you. Ultimately, I just wanted to point out that you're being pretty harsh, considering you've probably only read this one single post of mine. I don't post much on this forum, so you don't really know me, and judging me based on one post...

I’ve been smoke-free for three years now, after quitting an 18-year habit. To be honest, I don't even feel the urge to light up anymore, though for a long time, I used to daydream about smoking. It turned into a total nightmare because my conscience would just eat me alive. I finally decided to quit after thinking about it for years. Right around that time, my workplace set up a designated smoking area right outside the restrooms, which was honestly pathetic. Not long after that, a woman I knew passed away from cancer. I don't know if her cancer was directly linked to smoking, but the last image I have of her is her sitting there with short hair from chemo and a cigarette in her mouth. And what a coincidence—I had just bought a fresh pack. When I read the news that she was gone, I took every single cigarette I had and gave them away. For the first month, I felt physically terrible. I was nauseous and just felt sick all the time. Once that passed, I started craving chocolate and all sorts of other things (though I didn't gain any weight). Anyway, I feel much better now, and thank God, the urge to smoke is gone. I simply stopped thinking about it...
I wish the same for everyone trying to quit. You've got my support. 👍
