Rhinoplasty recovery: What to expect? in Health ·
Laura Castillo7 said:Hey Charles Cox8, would you mind posting a before photo? I really love how your nose looks now, so I'm curious what it looked like before. Thanks!

I don't have a before picture. And honestly, what am I even supposed to say... it was bigger, had this weird bump, and from the side, it just looked totally off and pointed to the right. 😁 😁 😁
It was pretty ugly, to be honest. 🙄

The thing is, I was so completely out of it that I didn't even care, but I really did hear what they were saying and how they were handling things. I didn't feel any pain, though. My nurse mentioned they gave me the absolute bare minimum dose just to get me to sleep. I don't know if that depends on body weight... I guess it does. Anyway, it wasn't awkward or anything 🙂 I'm actually pretty happy with how it went

hehe... okay, okay... I can tell you're pissed. 😉 Honestly, I was half-asleep myself... I mean, I heard pretty much everything, but I just couldn't bring myself to care. I even heard them hammering away and when they started tearing things apart. 😁 😁

I actually had my nose surgery done under local anesthesia, and honestly, I don't see what the big deal is about it. 🙂

Are you guys actually speaking normally, or is everyone just talking through their noses? Seriously, Severina sounds like she’s talking through her nose, and honestly, that little blonde girl from the Big Brother house does too.

So, what, no hard feelings? I mean, maybe there are, but I guess we're just pretending everything is fine now. It feels a little weird, honestly. Just a thought.🙂 If that happens, I guess I'll just be talking through my nose too, so whatever.😁

You sound like you're talking through a mouthful of cotton. Seriously, it’s like you have tampons shoved up your nose or something. 😉
Honestly, no. I haven't heard of anyone talking that much constantly after surgery either. Maybe it's just one of those things, but I guess it's definitely not normal. 🙂

So, I promised I'd show my nose up close 🙂. The photo quality is pretty terrible, honestly, but you can tell I don't look like a total pig 😁.

hey girl, thanks so much 😍

I honestly don't know if anything is actually going to show up this time?!? I already uploaded the photos to the host before, and I didn't run into any issues... I guess I just don't get what the problem is supposed to be 😢

I have no clue why it didn't work, but when I just copy and paste it directly into my browser, you can actually see 🙂
Maybe someone could give it a shot and let me know if it looks alright? I guess I'm just not really a tech person, 😁
Anyway, here’s the "after" photo. Just ignore the glare on my nose—it was freaking boiling hot in here 😁

I don't even have a photo of the before, just the after. But I honestly can't figure out how to upload it 😢 it keeps telling me the file size is too big, and I have no clue how to shrink it down. I'm such an idiot 😁

Chloe Perez44 said:Question for the girls who’ve had rhinoplasty: my nose is kind of a mess from the front view. It’s "a little" too wide from the bridge down to the tip. The profile is okay—it's not exactly some tiny, cute, upturned thing😍, but it's straight. I feel like I’ve read basically every post on here, and while everyone seems happy with their profile, a ton of girls complain about looking like Miss Piggy when viewed from the front.

So, how do you guys feel about how your nose looks from the front?

I'm actually pretty happy with mine. It looks totally normal to me, 🙂 though I did make sure to tell my surgeon that I didn't want it to look too upturned 🙂.

So, I had my nose surgery back on May 28th. It was with Dr. Toncic. Honestly, I’ve been really happy with everything—from the prep work to the actual procedure and the recovery phase. The nurses there were just incredibly sweet and kind, too. I went in for a follow-up about a week ago, and everything is looking good. I am genuinely pleased with how it turned out, even though I did point out one tiny little thing to the doctor during my check-up that's still bugging me. But then again, maybe it's just my perfectionism getting the better of me 🙂. On the other hand, my nose used to tilt quite a bit to the right, so I get that you can't perform absolute miracles sometimes. My nose is straight now, it's small, and I absolutely love the profile 😍 finally!!! I specifically chose Dr. Toncic because he performs the surgery under local anesthesia with sedation, and I'd heard great things about his work. In the end, everything worked out fine. I didn't stress over the results as much as I thought I would, and it turns out I made a really solid choice 🙂

Honestly, I was digging all sorts of junk out of my nose yesterday too. I was seriously thinking, "Well, this is it, I’m done for!" It was just impossible to breathe, and that constant twitching feeling was driving me crazy... I couldn't stop sneezing. 😁
I don't think those are just loose fibers or anything, since they seem tied off in little knots. I can see my own stuff in there, and yeah, it definitely gives me that weird twitchy sensation whenever I take a breath.
Everything else seems fine, though. My face usually looks a bit more swollen in the morning than it does by the afternoon. Anyway, today was actually my first day back at work. 🙂

Raymond Sanchez7: You mentioned you’re able to blow your nose normally now. Honestly, I’m still struggling with that part. I don't dare try any of those heroic, heavy blows 😁 like I used to before the surgery; instead, I just do these really light, gentle puffs and then try to clear things out with Q-tips. But man, I constantly feel like there's something stuck in there, even though I feel like I've cleaned it out pretty thoroughly already. I think my nose might actually be a little swollen from all the constant cleaning and blowing. How are things looking on your end? Since we had our procedures only two days apart, I'm wondering. I'm genuinely worried something might go wrong with him 😢 I guess I'm being just as paranoiacan as you are, worrying about him developing a hunchback or heaven forbid something else entirely 😢

Look, I didn't really lay it all out clearly before. I was actually over at Smith's place earlier. 🙂 Honestly, you should just wait until that bump is gone and then ask him what’s going to happen with the nose. Let him explain it to you directly. Once that happens, you'll finally see if he actually thinks it needs a little lift or not. Maybe he was thinking about shortening it a bit instead? I don't know if that makes any difference.
Rhinoplasty recovery: What to expect? in Health ·
I honestly think once you get rid of that hump—which is what I did—you really have to lift the tip a bit and scale back the supports. When you take away the hump, the nose just naturally stretches out and dips down a little. I didn't have a full simulation done myself, and I totally agree with Susan Scott5 that you can't get a realistic idea of the result that way anyway. I don't know, maybe I'm overthinking it, but I figure surgeons usually know what needs to be done. I just told them to keep everything proportional so it doesn't look flat or "cut off," and obviously, I don't want to end up looking like a pig... we didn't actually dive into the tiny details or anything. We just looked over some photos of their previous work, and that was pretty much it. Personally, I'm happy with how it turned out. 🙂

mellowraven32 said:An orthopedic surgeon I know deals with these exact migraines; whenever they hit, he has to head home because he literally can't talk to patients for that exact reason...

Maybe you could ask him if he's actually gone in for any tests, and if so, what kind?

The thing is, every single time this happens, I start getting these massive fears that I'm actually "losing it." And I get the feeling that nobody is taking me seriously. Maybe there's a decent neurologist out there somewhere who would actually listen to me with some empathy.

It’s fine by me. I don't really know how it feels right when an attack starts, but usually, it hits somewhere between a 4.5 and a 5 or so...
I honestly thought it had something to do with my cycle, but then I actually started tracking things and realized it doesn't. Not during ovulation or before it, and even the time of day doesn't seem to matter... nothing at all. It just shows up whenever it feels like it.😁
Honestly, all I need to do is catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror, and if I look a little "off," I know exactly what's coming.🙂
