I honestly feel like this was being viewed as a simple price drop—which, frankly, shouldn't have warranted a deleted post, nor did I actually break any of the subforum rules.

Yesterday, the price sat at $200 and then today it shifted down to $190.

Anyone still running Windows 7? in Software ·

Look, honestly—regardless of which version you're talking about—installing Windows 7 on a machine with less than 1GB of RAM is just asking for trouble. You need at least 1GB, minimum,
those old relics with only 512MB of RAM? They’re better off staying on Windows XP—seriously, they'll actually perform better there than if you try to force them to run Windows 7. 👍

Actually, 1GB isn't even the bare minimum requirement; that's more like the recommended starting point... anyway. I've managed to get Windows 7 running on 512MB before—I've done it myself—but, well, I'm slowly coming to terms with the fact that it's probably a bad idea to keep trying to install it on these machines. 😂

Long story short, I'm having issues getting Windows XP to install right now, so I'm suspecting it might be a failing hard drive... I'll have to see. 🙄

I don't know... I remember one time—it might have been a few years back—when I installed Windows 7 on a machine with just 512MB of RAM... and honestly, it seemed to run perfectly fine...

Does anyone happen to have a fix for this headache...

I’m attempting to get Windows 7 up and running on a machine with these specs: a 2.4GHz Intel processor, 512MB of RAM, and a 120GB HDD... anyway—after I finish formatting and partitioning the drive, everything seems fine until the stage where it starts copying the actual Windows files. Then, right around the 5% or 7% mark (it varies, depending on the mood of the machine, I suppose), I get hit with this error:

Windows cannot access the installation sources. Verify that the installation sources are accessible, and restart the installation.

Is there some sort of workaround hidden somewhere in the BIOS settings, or am I just out of luck??
