So, we just sold off a fixed asset over in Canada... I'm assuming this would be an invoice without sales tax? You know, handled like a standard export under Section 45 or whatever... right?

Larry Edwards3 said:I just received approval from the IRS regarding my request to bring someone on for professional training without setting up a formal employment relationship. We actually sat down and signed the Contract today, so I was wondering, when should I go ahead and report this to NOAA? Should I get that done immediately, or maybe wait a bit? According to the paperwork I got back from the IRS, the official start date for the training is set for November 16, 2015.

If the Contract says they start on 11/16/2015, then you register them for 11/16. Not a day sooner, not a day later. You file with NOAA, and they'll automatically get added to Medicare. You should get an email confirmation from Medicare within a week—though, honestly, sometimes I get mine in two days and sometimes it takes seven. It's hit or miss.

So, I’m running into this for the first time and could really use some help here.
We just had a shipment arrive—it was imported from China—sent over to Romania. They have a valid VAT ID.

1. On the VAT return, am I supposed to be reporting both the input and output tax?
2. What about that ZV form? Do I actually need to fill that out or...?
3. Is there anything else I should be booking or filing?

Thanks

Steven Anderson14 said:I'm currently filing the paperwork for a new hire through Medicare. Since they updated the system, does the registration go through to the health insurance side automatically now? Also, do I still need to mail over a physical copy of the employment contract and their ID?
I haven't handled any onboarding since they rolled out these changes, so I’m a little lost on the new workflow.

Yeah, it goes straight to Medicare automatically. You don't need to send them the contract or an ID copy.
On the NOAA site, you'll get a certified form with a barcode, which basically means it's been processed. Then, after a few days, a confirmation hits your email from Medicare. Sometimes I get mine in two days, sometimes it takes ten... who knows.
