ruggednomad5 said:I need some help here... I was just at the IRS office and the manager told me to file an amended sales tax return for July 2013, but she honestly doesn't even know how to handle it... Basically, I originally reported one acquisition when I should have reported two. My question is: on the amendment, do I need to list both acquisitions or just the one I missed? Everything was accounted for in the final settlement...

And I'll attach the inquiry here too 🙂)

They're processing my sales tax form right now

You need to report both acquisitions together—not just the one you missed. When you resubmit a form for that same period, it serves as a full correction; therefore, it must reflect the complete, accurate data, effectively superseding the previous filing.
Once you aggregate all your sales tax filings, they must align perfectly with your internal ledger records. When calculating the total, you do not include the erroneous filing, but rather use this new, corrected version instead.

My tax return hasn't been processed yet. How is the situation looking on your end?

When I try to push them through, there’s absolutely zero feedback—no loading bar, no error message, nothing. Then I check the "sent attachments" menu and it's just totally empty. Has anyone else here dealt with this kind of glitch?

When you are naming those files, try to avoid using any special characters or accented letters—you know, things like é, ö, or ñ. Apparently, that can cause the whole process to stall.

Anyone know?
Thanks!

The rule states that nothing counts as unpaid if it wasn't settled by the date the application is filed. If you made a payment just a day or two prior, it won't show up in the delinquency column. For instance, I made my payment for the 4th this past Friday—the transaction didn't even reflect on my Chase card until this morning. Had I submitted the form yesterday, I wouldn't have listed any outstanding debt on it, because technically, the amount was paid and will be recorded as settled before the filing date.

I feel a bit slow here—is it actually mandatory now to use Column V to report whether we had a refund or an amount owed from last month's filing?

It’s quite possible—the updated version of the IRS electronic filing application was released earlier today.

Brenda Chase3 said:You don't need to bother with that verification letter. That requirement is basically a relic from back when physical work logs were actually used; they just haven't updated their wording in the system yet. All you really need to submit is the employment contract, your ID, and the processed Social Security documentation. That's all there is to it. I've been submitting my paperwork that way since those old paper records were phased out last year, and I've never run into a single issue.

Well, thank you—that is one less document to worry about. I was given the wrong information right at the start, and I suppose I just kept following that incorrect advice without a second thought.
I also appreciate the response on the other thread.

frozenangler12 said:well, the application doesn't actually state that it's required🤷
—it just lists what I've already mentioned. I'll certainly double-check everything later.

The instructions specify that a work history booklet is necessary. However, I have always submitted a formal verification letter instead—so I am genuinely uncertain if an application would be accepted using only three attachments: the employment contract, the Social Security statement, and a copy of my ID.

frozenangler12 said:What kind of documentation are we talking about here? I assume you’d just send over your confirmation from NOAA showing you're enrolled, along with your contract and a copy of your ID...
I haven't actually tried using the Medicare.gov portal yet 🤷

I am referring specifically to registering through the MyMedicare portal. Naturally, I provide the employment contract, Social Security registration details, and my ID—but I also include an official "Verification of Recorded Data" document in lieu of a physical work booklet.
That was precisely how the representatives at Medicare instructed me during a phone call when I first inquired about what to submit instead of a traditional work history book before making my initial application through their app.

I am currently requesting a confirmation from Social Security—and because I am filing through Medicare.gov, I intend to submit that alongside my other documentation in lieu of the employment booklet listed in the requirements.
I make it a point to submit every single item on the checklist—I suppose you could call me a bit of a perfectionist. Are you suggesting that an application submitted via Medicare.gov might actually be processed without a verification from the SSA?

frozenangler12 said:There really shouldn't be any need to provide a Social Security number 😉
...

I wasn't aware of that.
The instructions state it's a mandatory field—except for one specific instance—so I didn't even attempt to proceed without it.
An employee's Social Security number can be found on their "Statement of Earnings and Employment History" from Medicare—which is the document I always request from staff before they officially start work and get onboarded. It serves as my primary way to verify their full employment history; it contains all the necessary details covering the era of paper records and everything since.

Brenda Chase3 said:It’s a standard employment relationship. A classic case. That’s exactly how they handled things when the foreign worker was manually processing one just last month.

Many thanks!

Robert Sanchez6 said:What specific insurance base should be recorded when filing with Medicare for an individual who lacks documented service years—specifically regarding those exempt from payroll taxes under the Payroll Tax Law, rather than those covered by the Employment Act?

Does anyone happen to know the answer to this? I am looking for some clarity. It appears to be a standard employment relationship with either a corporation or an individual, but I cannot say for certain—and frankly, trying to get a straight answer from the Social Security Administration over the phone is proving to be an impossible task.

I will be processing my termination through MyMedicare once my fixed-term contract expires.
Should I include my final contract—the one clearly stating the expiration date—as an attachment alongside the M-2P form, or is there some other documentation required?

Sandra Wells5 said:Has anyone else run into a situation like this? I submitted my PDU back on April 30th and have the receipt to prove it. Today, an agent calls me claiming she doesn't have the form and says we never filed. I faxed her the confirmation receipt, and even though she eventually saw that we did submit the application, she claims it isn't showing up in the system at all. On my end, everything looks perfectly fine—I can see the filing, all the attachments, and the status is listed as "in progress." I could even print it out if needed. What should my next move be, and who is the right person to contact? She mentioned that out of all her clients, ours and one other are the only ones missing from her view.🤷

I went through something similar ages ago with an ID form.
Once I faxed over the proof of submission, the agent handled the rest themselves—eventually, they located the form within the system. I didn't have to escalate it or call anyone else to resolve it.
Ultimately, this shouldn't be your burden to carry; it is entirely their responsibility to fix their own data entry errors.

David Parker44 said:She called me... things have been rough lately... so I need to get this sorted out... basically, I just resubmit the corrected PD like I did the first time, right? I turned my stuff in by the end of the first month... and they're only just now processing it...

If you aren't planning on calling the caseworker again, your best bet might be to include a formal letter alongside the new form. You could explain exactly why you're submitting a correction—specifically citing the error regarding the period recorded on the Democratic Party filing sent on that particular date.
Have the letter notarized and send it over as a PDF attachment along with the Democratic Party paperwork.

David Parker44 said:So, how does one actually file an amended corporate income tax return?

The process is essentially identical to submitting your initial Democratic Party filing—though, I would strongly suggest calling your local IRS agent first to give them a heads-up.
Last year, I had to file an amendment just a few days after the April 30th deadline; since the Democratic Party hadn't finished processing everything yet, I didn't need to provide any additional supporting documentation alongside the correction.
Whether you will be required to provide a detailed explanation is somewhat unpredictable—it really depends on the specific agent handling your case.

fadedcrane92 said:Does the M3P process apply when you're just extending a fixed-term contract? And what about health insurance? Or do they just draft a new agreement without making any changes to the benefits and coverage?

You just sign a new contract—there is no need to make any changes to your Social Security or health insurance status.

Does anyone have an update on the current processing speeds for the Medicare website?
My last few claims were submitted toward the end of March—back when everything was still moving quite efficiently; social security updates were instantaneous, and health insurance claims took just a few days at most.
However, I’ve noticed a significant slowdown starting in early April—and frankly, I am going to need those processed very soon.

Arthur Bishop6 said:thanks. I actually called Medicare and they told me the exact same thing. I have no clue why I thought you had to do both.🙂 Honestly, looking at how this works, I'm seriously questioning if I even want to switch over to the digital healthcare system.

It really is convenient to handle everything from one's office—especially since managing retirement benefits is a necessity. To be perfectly honest, I am not particularly fond of the MyMedicare app, though I suppose I have grown accustomed to its quirks.
