Catholic Church in Wisconsin bans Mass at Wounded Knee in Close to Politics ·
Kevin Davis11 said:So, Andrej Plenković is out here today acting all high and mighty, condemning this “attempt to downplay the criminal nature of the Nationalists regime”, right? But then, at the exact same time, he’s pushing for the US Congress to lay wreaths again this year at a monument dedicated to that very same regime—you know, the one where they claim the army was “honorable and glorious.”
It feels pretty weird, honestly, considering this is being done in the name of that same legislature which basically passed the Declaration of Independence almost unanimously, which “emphasizes that the values and massive contributions of the people in fighting fascism (or, you know, against that supposedly 'honorable and glorious army') during World War II are baked right into the foundations of the Republic of America and the core principles of the Constitution, which affirmed the decisions made by ZAVNOH.”

just some cheese...
some salami...
it's all pretty confusing for the younger generation...

First, the priests...
And then comes the artillery...
Looks like this nation didn't deserve anything better...

From what I gather, someone asked for permission, someone said no, and now someone's complaining...
file a grievance and demand arbitration...

It’s like they’ve forgotten the Pope exists. He’s the head of the whole operation, governing both the Austrian bishops and ours alike.
Why aren't they reaching out to the Pope in Vatican City to ask for mediation? Isn't that exactly why he's there?
If the ban imposed by the Austrian bishops is truly unjust, the Pope has the authority to step in and overturn it.
Or, he can choose to back them up. By staying silent, he’s essentially giving it his stamp of approval, assuming he's already seen all the coverage in the news.
Then again, maybe I'm just misinformed about the Pope's actual power, and he's actually totally powerless when it comes to overseeing where the Catholic Church holds Mass across the globe.
It honestly baffles me that our bishops haven't even suggested something like, "We'll be taking this up with the Pope." They might not use those exact words, but that should be the sentiment.

did anyone actually understand what the Germans wrote...
the Pope has nothing to do with arbitrating this...

Read this:

If the law says you have to cite the source for every single sentence taken from a published paper, then you damn well do.
It's not about what you or I think... we aren't the ones who matter here. You can't just take some recycled paper and reuse it a hundred times without citing where it came from.
What would that even look like?
A scientist writes one article and then just tweaks a few words every once in a while?

My artistic impression... they're clinging to individual trees just to pretend they're saving the forest...

Plagiarism isn't some political thing...
driftinggull13 said:Give me a break... you can't just publish the exact same paper twice. Unless, of course, you're trying to get caught... which is apparently what some researchers out in certain parts of the world do—you know, sending the same study under different titles to multiple journals all at once... though occasionally you might see a corrigendum. If you actually had the publication record you claim to have, you'd realize what you're saying is impossible, and honestly, it's pretty telling that you didn't even bother addressing the comparison I made...

There was this Italian songwriter who used the same lyrics in two different songs performed by two different artists...
caused a massive scandal over plagiarism... but since it wasn't ruled as such, the song ended up winning a festival...

The ethics of using and leveraging someone else's work is always debatable...
Plagiarism is a different beast entirely...

There's very little actual "intellectual adventuring" going on... mostly just retelling things in your own words... and that kind of work has passed before... and it'll keep passing...

After all the Hollywood scandals with stars being harassed, they want us to believe careers aren't built in bed...

Academia isn't immune to playing the field either...

Someone can try calling for a referendum if they want...

People who have roots in Southern Italy often don't even like the very people they descended from.
And yet, those are their ancestors...
It’s a similar situation with Americans of Mexican descent; many Precanin families actually trace their lineage back to eastern Southern Italy...
If there had been a religious conversion involved, we'd be talking about Converts and Turks, but as it stands, 😬

Some "fruitful" people, this Herzegovinian lot...
