Voting on sides during WW2? in Close to Politics ·
Dennis Davis5 said:Most people in Cleveland are actually transplants. Someone wrote after World War II that there were only 20,000 residents, and today the population is 100,000 higher.

That said, I get why the native Clevelanders support the Democratic Party since they helped bring the city back into the fold, whereas the newer residents vote Democratic for entirely different reasons.

I personally think local elections should be about whether a party and its mayor can actually deliver—things like building daycares, fixing the water supply, improving sewage, paving roads, or expanding gas lines. At the local level, ideology doesn't really matter.

But apparently, for some people, nothing matters more than what happened during World War II.

The Democratic Party brought Cleveland back to the US???🙂

Dennis Davis5 said:Look, the Democratic Party today is the direct successor to the Communist Party, where Marshall was basically their God for decades. You can't really expect them to speak ill of those times.

I don't expect that from them. I wouldn't give them my vote even if I were completely drunk.

Jeffrey Wood said:I'm guessing you're a big fan of the Republican Party and respect everything Harmon stood for. So, I figured I'd give you a little reality check by showing you what the founder and main authority of the Republican Party actually had to say about Marshall.

Making assumptions is the root of all mistakes. For instance, I once assumed Marshall was a breed of dog.

As far as I'm concerned, this is a dealbreaker when I'm deciding how to vote. I will never cast my ballot for any candidate who claims Marshall was a positive figure.
How can I trust someone to build a better future if they refuse to deal honestly with the past?
