Condemnation in Psychology ·
I can't stand the constant judging.

I guess I've realized that the people most likely to point fingers are those who've had it easy—people with stable lives who have never dealt with scarcity, real struggles, or messy family issues growing up.

People are shaped by their childhood and youth. If they had a rough upbringing or dealt with trauma, they tend to hit bumps in the road that make others judge them.

I mentioned an example before, but there's another one similar to it. In my extended family, there's this girl whose parents were alcoholics and went through a messy divorce; just a totally dysfunctional household. She went through hell because of it. She never knew what love felt like, so she basically just went off the rails and eventually became known as the local troublemaker. But after years of partying and making bad choices, she actually changed. She found a great guy who treats her right, she’s never cheated, doesn't drink much, stays in, finished school, got a job, and moved in with him. I know her well enough to say she’s a genuinely good person who just didn't get a fair shake as a kid.

And now, everyone is talking behind her back, labeling her as some kind of slut. People even mock her boyfriend for being with her. It's just a bunch of self-righteous types laughing, acting like saints because they had perfect upbringings and have no clue what it's like to grow up with alcoholic parents and a broken home.
