What makes someone likable or unlikable to you?

At first glance, I don't really make a judgment call on who's likable and who isn't.
As I get to know people better, my definition of "likable" shifts toward those who can accept others exactly as they are—regardless of their own personal biases or limitations.
For instance,
If someone is religious, they respect that someone else might not be—recognizing that faith is a deeply personal choice.
If someone isn't religious, they still respect those who are and acknowledge how much it shapes that person's life.
If someone is a vegetarian, they don't look down on meat-eaters or label them as "killers."
Conversely, if someone loves eating meat, they don't lecture the vegetarian about what's "healthy" for them.
If someone lives for travel, they don't belittle those who prefer staying close to home.
And if someone isn't much of a traveler, they don't view the adventurers as elitist snobs.
That, to me, is the ultimate litmus test for whether someone is truly easy to be around.
A sense of humor or being laid-back? Well—if I judged myself by those standards alone, I probably wouldn't find myself very likable either.🙂
