It’s like this lingering idea stuck in my head from back when Robert Kubica was being linked to Ferrari right after his stellar debut season with Renault. To be fair, Felipe Massa was in much better shape back then, too, but even at that time, I wasn't exactly sold on the idea of Massa driving for Renault.

@Nathan Jones98—I don't know, maybe there’s a spot out there somewhere, similar to what Barichel found, where he could grind out a few more seasons in Formula 1. But honestly, with this massive influx of "pay drivers" lately, landing a seat is getting harder by the second unless you're walking in with a mountain of cash.

God, I absolutely despise the way Grosjean and Pastor Maldonado drive. Honestly, what a complete disaster of a duo. 🙏
They really ought to go out and grab another four or five semi-trucks full of spare parts right this second. And while they're at it, why not just hire another fifty mechanics to actually turn the wrenches on these cars?😬

Look, here’s my take: if Lotus can actually prove they have the financial backing to stay afloat—and more importantly, if they can show they actually have the cash to cover his salary—then Kimi Räikkönen stays at Lotus. It's that simple. It all comes down to whether they can guarantee they won't go belly up mid-season.
Look, if they can't swing the massive paycheck and he ends up making the move to Red Bull Racing—which, let’s be honest, is a very real possibility when you look at it from a different angle—it could trigger a massive domino effect. We're talking about a significant number of driver seats opening up across the grid.
I’m not sure exactly how many ways this can play out, but I have to say—I’d love to see a scenario where things shift around and we end up seeing Felipe Massa driving for Lotus.

First of all, there are only 22 drivers on the grid.😛
The rule is simple: if the penalty exceeds the number of positions gained during qualifying, the driver is relegated to the very last spot—meaning Grosjean starts 22nd.

Otherwise, I’m expecting a damn wild race with two Safety Cars, endless overtaking, and Grosjean somehow fighting his way into the top five.☕

My comment was primarily about that first attempt by Kimi Räikkönen to overtake; the one on Fernando Alonso was just okay, but I'm sticking to my guns—there had to be someone less experienced behind the wheel there for it to have been such a wreck.😉

Look, I have a soft spot for aggressive drivers. I love seeing someone hunt for a way past when the odds are stacked against them, but there has to be a line. I actually noted this during the race before the contact happened between Kimi Räikkönen and Sergio Perez during that first overtake attempt. Both of them went wide specifically because Sergio Perez charged in like a total maniac and just couldn't hold his line. If we had any other less experienced drivers sitting in the seats of Fernando Alonso and Kimi Räikkönen, we almost certainly would have seen a collision right then and there.
Unfortunately for me, even Kimi Räikkönen’s veteran experience wasn't enough to prevent contact during the second attempt.
I did a bit of reading into what both drivers had to say. Perez is absolutely convinced he’s not even remotely at fault; in his mind, Kimi Räikkönen should have left him more room. Meanwhile, Kimi politely pointed out that Perez needs to stop expecting everyone else to read his mind and assume what he's going to do just so they'll give him space.
It was a brainless move. He completely ruined his own race, and even worse, he effectively stripped Kimi Räikkönen of nine massive points in the championship hunt.

Someone needs to step up and tell him to look around once in a while. Being aggressive is great, sure, but you can also be aggressive while actually using your brain—something Sergio Perez clearly isn't doing.

Good grief. This guy manages to wreck his car twice in just three practice sessions—and he does it with such absolute confidence, too. He’s consistently fast and sitting right at the top of the charts, yet somehow, he can't keep the car on the asphalt. It's almost impressive how much chaos he brings to the table while being lightning quick.
Then you have the mechanics pulling off some miracle to bolt a car together in record time, the driver rolls out onto the track and absolutely flies through that opening stint. Honestly, he probably would’ve cruised right into the final round too, if he hadn't run into some unexpected traffic—I think he mentioned Daniel Ricciardo was the one getting in his way.

So, he hasn't made a single mistake all season up until this point in Monaco. He’s only dropped a couple of minor ones, but otherwise, he's been clean. Now, I just really hope to God he doesn't pull some amateur move at the start tomorrow. 😬
If he can just pull together one decent weekend without everything falling apart, he’ll finally show everyone exactly what he’s capable of. ☕
