Che was nothing more than a bloated, hypocritical scumbag.
Not to mention he was a straight-up sociopathic killer and criminal.

And honestly? A complete and utter failure at everything he did. He spearheaded two failed "revolutions"—which were really just glorified looting and terror raids—and ended up getting killed during the second attempt.

The only reason anyone knows his name is because of that one iconic photo everyone loves to obsess over.

Jamie Nelson90 said:She’s just a high-society leftist,
all she talks about is bumping up benefits for veterans, large families, the unemployed, daycare subsidies...

Real leftists actually organize community service projects for veterans instead of just drugging them up with Zoloft.

Real leftists actually despise veterans and try to paint them as criminals.

Still, they’re my favorites. I don't know what kind of nonsense you're trying to pull here, but let's get one thing straight: this isn't some playground for idle chatter. If you're going to step into this arena, bring something substantial to the table. Otherwise, you're just wasting everyone's time with empty noise. I have zero patience for fluff. Either make a point or move along. The leftists—or rather, those people who just start screaming the second anything happens. Fascist. If they throw even one single counterargument at you...

Marx was actually an even bigger piece of work than Engels.
He wrote Capital despite having absolutely zero clue about economics, business, or anything practical for that matter. He never met a real industrial worker in his life, let alone spent a single day on a factory floor with actual laborers.

And just like that, this clueless windbag penned a book that became the literal bible for the cult of communism!

Both Marx and Engels were racists—you can find their quotes scattered all over the internet if you bother to look.

On a personal level, Marx was a total hypocrite and a complete leech. He wouldn't even pay his debts—not to his butcher, his milkman, or his baker... plus, he had an illegitimate daughter he never even acknowledged...

Actually, it’s more of an ideological cult.

and Marshall was basically Pope Pius I

Marshall would've probably been a Protestant or an Anglican instead.
☕

and Dolanc was likely the Archbishop of Ljubljana.

Yeah.

crimsonwolf20 said:The left is basically the polar opposite of liberalism in the traditional sense—though let’s be real, the whole left-vs-right divide has become pretty much meaningless these days.

To me, being a liberal means pushing for maximum freedom for every single person, both when it comes to your wallet and your personal life. On the flip side, the leftists are all about restricting that freedom, especially when it involves the economy.

The Republican Party, the Libertarian Party, and everyone else in that camp are actually hardcore economic "leftists"—they aren't economic liberals at all! And honestly, yeah, that goes for the "leftist" coalition running things right now too. You can see the damage from all that government intervention and the massive state bloat in the market everywhere you look.
It’s a real shame, but we just don't have a true economic liberal party here in America. 😢

Then you've got your local salon hair stylists who just parrot those outdated, trashy slogans without having the slightest clue how economics actually works or how politics functions in the real world.
I’d lump most economic leftists—basically all the socialism enthusiasts out there—into that same group. They're definitely the majority.

This whole muddled mess of mixing up "leftist" with "liberal" is something we basically imported from the States—you know, where the lefties call themselves liberals and the Teo party gets branded as ultra-conservatives.

Look, I'm no expert on what's going down over there, but honestly? It feels like the independence crowd is getting a massive gift from how predictably idiotic the government in Madrid is acting.
If the folks in London were behaving this way, I’ve got a feeling those Scots would be absolutely losing their minds out of pure spite.

Arthur Fowler83 said:Lately, we've been witnessing a genuine political phenomenon unfolding over in Spain.

The party—or more accurately, the grassroots movement known as Podemos—emerged just 9 months ago and managed to snag five seats in the European Union elections. Since then, their momentum hasn't slowed down for a second.

According to the latest polling, they've already surged past 17% support, firmly establishing themselves as the third major force in the country. They're sitting right behind the usual mainstream left-wing and right-wing establishment parties.

For anyone familiar with Greece's Syriza, you might see some parallels here, though if you ask me, this feels much more like a true populist movement.

Pablo Iglesias Turrion stands out as one of the core figures driving this, and he’s certainly not one to mince words. He’s someone who will be making noise for a long time to come, especially once the national elections roll around next year.

So, basically, what I'm saying is that Podemos, much like Syriza, is essentially our version of ORAH.

It's just a collection of populist groups huddled around various radical, salon-dwelling leftist activists, blowhards, and theorists.
The "alternative" left, the Greens, feminists, LGBT advocates... the whole lot.

Basically, you've got a bunch of people who have never actually accomplished anything useful offering "solutions," while a mass of voters—who are clearly just eager to sit around and yap about state-funded nonsense—pin their hopes on them continuing that exact same charade.

The perfect recipe for solving a crisis, isn't it?

Isn't it just telling that these kinds of parties always seem to explode in popularity in countries that are getting hit hardest by a crisis?

I mean, look,

Sophia Moore52 said:What do Rodman and Kim have to do with how Eisenhower, Churchill, Roosevelt, Himmler, de Gaulle, or Neil Armstrong felt about Marshall?

Honestly, I think you’d be pretty shocked by how many famous figures actually said some positive things about someone like Hitler—back before the guy finally showed his true, nasty colors to everyone.
Standard of living in Cuba is better than in America in Close to Politics ·
Jeffrey Hughes91 said:Exactly this 👍. It’s a brutally objective look at what life is actually like in Cuba. I guess I suspected this might happen—behind all our romanticized notions of that socialist corner of the world, there's just basic human nature, which is pretty much the same everywhere. If anyone wants that lifestyle, they should just move to their "paradise." Sure, America isn't Norway by any standard, but I wouldn't want to live in Cuba either. This system works because it gives you the freedom to shape your own life. Want to focus on your career? You can. Study, work hard, and suddenly the whole EU market is open to your ambitions. Want to prioritize family? You can, and the state even helps out with various incentives for having kids. Want to travel and see the world? Go ahead. Freedom implies responsibility, and I suppose some people just prefer being spoon-fed through life. That's different. ☕ Anyone still preaching about how "great" Cuba is should probably ditch their computer, phone, and all those other Western evils and just move there. ☕

By the way, sex work with foreigners is totally commonplace there. And we aren't talking about professional prostitutes—we're talking about married women who have actual jobs, like teachers, nurses, doctors, civil servants...
Even their husbands don't seem to care much about it.
So a woman hooks up with some foreigner and uses the cash to buy groceries for the week. It’s not like she’s throwing money away on nonsense; let's face it, you can't survive on a standard salary alone.

What a wonderful country.
