How do you defeat evil and the people behind it? in Psychology ·
Never. Not in a million years. Evil doesn't sleep; it’s eternal... except, of course, for those sheep hiding in their churches.

Steven Smith16 said:I’m starting to give more thought to the idea that kids just aren't my thing. I mean, they're adorable and all—I'll definitely have my "aww" moments—but I'm honestly not sure I want to commit to that lifestyle. It feels like it might be a bit too much work.

It’s almost as if your job doesn't chain you down enough; then you go and find someone to keep you tethered for the rest of your life. To me, it sounds like some poorly designed government mandate. 🤷

Well, sure... if you say so.
And I’ll say it again. Once word gets out about the pregnancy, some people will just vanish. They’ll bail the second they hear the news. Others? They’ll swarm like flies, clueless and aimless. That old peace is gone. No more curling up next to someone to watch a movie. No more calling the guys over to grab a few drinks and just relax. It's all changed.

Chris Robinson25 said:Man, I’ve had some wild dreams from mixing Seroquel and Prazosin.

But Prazosin is basically just a heavy-duty sedative, so why are you taking it so much?

She tried to push the Prazosin on me recently, but thank God I've already been through it. My unit sent me a whole box once and they were awful... couldn't sleep right. Felt drugged, but in the worst way possible. Plus, my nose bled every single day.🙄

* how does Seroquel cause dreams like that? 😲 For me, Seroquel means non-stop long dreams—loaded with detail, really vivid and beautiful. Especially now that I'm on anticonvulsants, they're incredible.🎉

Sarah Martin57 said:brightviper22, I am right there with you. Honestly, I’ve been through the exact same thing. When I was on Zyprexa, the weight gain was just... relentless. It was brutal. At one point, I actually went to see a nutritionist—really put in the work—and managed to drop nearly 45 pounds. But then? Everything just came rushing back, and I ended up heavier than I ever was before. It’s devastating. Instead of the extra weight acting as some kind of wake-up call or motivation to get healthy, I just feel completely defeated. It’s this crushing sense of failure that honestly just drains any willpower I have left to even try again.

Dammit, my dad is trying to play doctor again, questioning everyone about their meds.
Right now, I’m just sipping green tea and living off chocolate cereal. Is that even okay? I cut my portions in half, but the sugar cravings are impossible to fight 😠 and I'm constantly drinking sparkling water. I went from 100 pounds to nearly 150 🤦. It might not sound like much to some, but for my height, it looks terrible. Everyone thinks I'm pregnant 🙄

I’ve got a situation. Most people here know my history—and they know my therapy keeps shifting. I need some advice for those of us who have packed on the pounds because of medication. It’s obvious this isn't "natural" weight; the scale moves fast, goes up just as quick, but I have to stay on these meds even if the weight keeps climbing. Honestly, I don't care about the mirror as much as the fact that none of my clothes fit anymore. It’s getting hard to bend over to tie my shoes. Climbing stairs is a struggle. And don't even get me started on waking up under the influence of these pills—feeling completely disoriented, needing to rush to the bathroom immediately, barely able to stand up. It’s becoming too much. That’s why I was put on this new Adderall, though I’m still taking Seroquel, and that's not exactly a low dose either. So, anyone have tips on managing weight while on heavy medication? 🙂 🙂

Look, ladies—brightviper22 and redscout46—your posts practically reek of bitterness, which makes your decisions perfectly understandable. Now, both Alexander Adams94 and I are cat people, though I actually deal with twenty of them 😁 and I make it a point never to equate children with pets. That kind of comparison is just irrational. Therefore, there is absolutely no need for any further discussion. 😉

David Vaughn75 said:Look, I’m definitely not a doctor—and honestly, even asking doctors about dream patterns is a toss-up since they usually just stare at you blankly—but I can tell you what I've dealt with. In my experience, the more meds you stack, especially when you throw anxiolytics into the mix, the weirder and more nightmare-ish the dreams get. When I was on Xanax and Lopressor, my dreams were straight-up cinematic disasters—total chaos. But once I finally stepped away from those pills? Man, the dreams became absolutely divine.

I don't think it's the medication itself. It's your psyche. The drugs just pull everything deeper to the surface. When I was on Prazina 100, sleep was a struggle; I couldn't relax, and I kept getting nosebleeds. Now that I've switched to Seroquel, I'm dreaming in technicolor. Vivid, detailed stories...

Alexander Adams94 said:I’m just playing around with the ideas being thrown out here. Having a kid isn't some massive life crisis for me, but it's a much bigger deal than smoking cigarettes or having sex. My nearly immobile grandpa can smoke, and plenty of guys have sex—not exactly groundbreaking achievements. These are silly comparisons. Why not go record an album with George Michael and say, "I'm too cool to deal with a baby right now"? She thinks she's too cool for a kid because she'd just want to smoke after work and hook up with her partner in peace. That's like saying I want to eat for an hour, enjoy my food, and I'm just "too cool" to be bothered by a crying baby.

🤦 Man, you're exhausting. Just rambling on about nonsense endlessly... I don't smoke and I don't hook up, so maybe find a church to pray in instead... 🥱 Time for an afternoon nap, while you're still over here theorizing. Enjoy yourself.

redscout46 said:That is exactly it. Even I find myself drifting away from my boyfriend sometimes, mostly because our work shifts are such a mess and we're never on the same page. If I had to let anyone else tag along in my van, it would strictly be a cat, because let's face it, they are freaking perfect creatures. 🙂

And frankly, I don't get why certain people get so worked up over these types of posts; look at Anthony Perez28, for instance, acting like it's a crime. This is a forum. You should be able to talk about whatever you want, which is the whole reason we all signed up for this. If this topic doesn't sit right with you, then maybe head over to the automotive or computer boards and stick to discussing things you can actually touch. 🥱

True. I can't even make it to the bathroom without my cat. 🙂 Now I'm thinking of getting another one, then maybe another next year... forget kids. That's something I'll deal with when I'm older, if that ever happens.

Alexander Adams94 said:What kind of shallow excuses are these? "I just want to get home from work, light up a cigarette, and have sex without anyone yelling at me." It’s as if those are somehow more creative pursuits than raising a child. Unless you're in a rock band with a career more demanding than changing damn diapers, what are we talking about here? You'll light a smoke and have some quiet time in bed—such a massive deal. The reasoning is just incredible: "A kid would get in my way because then I couldn't sit in my armchair, smoke, and sleep around without interruptions." As if you've written a masterpiece or recorded a legendary album and are far too creative to be bothered by a baby because your head is bursting with new ideas. Honestly, could you at least come up with reasons that show a slightly higher intellectual level than smoking after work and wanting peace and quiet? People create historical works of art and don't let dirty diapers or a crying infant stop them, yet apparently, a baby's cry is going to ruin your ability to smoke a cigarette and have some intimacy. Don't try to sell me those lines.

Maybe you should take something to calm down? Why are you acting like a manic runner, getting so caught up in these forum posts? It's ridiculous how emotionally attached someone can get to an online conversation. 🤣

I honestly fail to see the utility of threads like this. Is the goal to gather a crowd of people who don't want kids just to upvote those who do? What’s the actual point? If you don't want children, fine—that’s your prerogative, and frankly, nobody cares. I haven't encountered a single thread where people were ganging up on those opting out of parenthood, yet the reverse seems to happen quite frequently.
So, what's the catch? Why does it bother you so much to see three little kids living in the house next door? Could you not simply let people live their lives and focus on cultivating your own?
That would be far too much effort, wouldn't it? 🙄

Since we are opening up this discussion, we might as well address the reality of foster care. Every child sitting in an American foster home has a biological mother and father somewhere out there. In most cases, those parents decided their own personal comfort was more important than their own flesh and blood. It’s shameful.

Don't get so worked up over a thread. You're always going to have your opinion and others will have theirs regardless of the circumstances... just chill out.☕

redscout46 said:Well, obviously women have to suffer for it. Unlike someone like Alexander Adams94, who probably just stuffs his head under a pillow whenever the kid starts wailing. That’s exactly why everyone is so entitled and arrogant these days.
But then again, there really is nothing more beautiful in this life than one's own comfort.

👍
I can't even deal with my cat needing to go out in the middle of the night without wanting to lose my mind, let alone a baby you have to soothe, burp, and babysit constantly. With my insomnia? I’d be a ticking time bomb waiting for the next cry to snap me out of sleep. No way. Absolutely not.

I want a life. I want to live with someone I love and actually enjoy that connection without a third party crashing the party—even if that party is a child. The truth? Couples drift apart once kids arrive; they'd probably toss the kid off a balcony if they could. I have neighbors in their prime who don't have kids, just two cats. To me, that's perfection. Meanwhile, the neighbors with three kids? God, the 🙄 screaming never ends...

redscout46 said:Hello there.
There’s one thing I just can't wrap my head around lately. Why does our society react with such intense hostility whenever someone dares to mention they don't want children? I brought this up recently during a dinner with some older folks and their circle of friends, and one gentleman looked absolutely horrified, as if I’d admitted to a felony. I mean, how am I even supposed to explain it—that I simply don't want them? (Though, apparently, if you aren't eager to be a parent, you're just being willfully ignorant.)
Personally, I don't see what all the fuss is about. Every time I hear those tired clichés, like "I spent all morning feeding my son with a spoon just to make sure he actually swallowed his food... kids are life's greatest treasure," I feel a physical urge to recoil. To be perfectly honest—though I try not to let the disgust show publicly—I tell people straight up that I value my freedom, that I want to focus on my career, and that I plan to travel with a partner, only to immediately be condescended to with comments like, "Oh, you just don't understand yet..." 🤦
The sheer audacity of it.
What do you all think? Is it really considered "abnormal" to not want to spend your life cleaning up after someone, feeding them smelly mush, and sitting through endless school meetings? Am I asking for too much comfort by choosing not to spend the next twenty years constantly worrying about someone else or draining my bank account on ballet lessons, English tutors, and soccer camps? Am I truly that selfish if I'd rather come home to a tidy apartment, sink into the couch, and enjoy a quiet moment after a long day at work, instead of cooking massive family meals and stepping on Lego bricks every five minutes? 🤣
I don't know what's going on with America lately, but people seem to have completely lost their minds.😵

I'm with you 100%, especially after seeing what my brother's wife went through during her pregnancy. Then my best friend... man, 🙂 it was brutal. She’s bleeding, she’s leaking milk, she can’t even shower properly. They had to do surgery on her, she has stitches, it hurts just to go to the bathroom, and her stomach looks like it was hit by a steamroller. Some people will claim, "Oh, it's all natural." Sure, it is. But if you're going to brag about it, then go ahead and give me the kid; I won't complain. Except now everything is stretched out, and there's zero sleep because the little thing is constantly screaming for something. Give me a break. What she said about needing three different types of diapers—one for the baby, one for herself, and one for when she's leaking... it's ridiculous. And when she handed me the baby to hold? I looked at it and couldn't understand what people find so precious. "Aww, so cute." Not me. It's just spit and mess, and babies don't even smell good; they smell like undeveloped tissue. I'll stick to cats. When I see five or six kittens stumbling around blindly looking for warmth, am I crazy? God, I hate people. 😁

restlesstrucker15 said:I was wondering, if I'm prescribed this for those other issues, does it cause heavy sedation by the second day? For my current condition, they suggest taking 10 or 25 before bed. The problem is that by the next day, I struggle with anything that causes drowsiness; I just couldn't adjust to it with things like Xanax or Seroquel. If it does cause sedation, does that eventually wear off after a while?

Man, 😢 I wasn't aware you both dealt with epilepsy. It isn't easy, though it seems you both have things under control. 😉

Skickas FR

I've only been at this for a week, and I hate it. What happens if I just collapse in public? Or what if it spirals into something worse? My parents and my therapist have been drilling it into me—if I don't follow the treatment perfectly, things go south fast. They’re constantly trying to push me toward inpatient care. I have to call tomorrow and see if I can just get my injections here in my small town instead of driving all the way to Chicago or being stuck in a hospital ward. 😢 Honestly, I'm not doing well. This is too much. At least the truth is out there now, but I've been bouncing between clinics since I was fifteen because of insomnia. Eventually, I'll end up with every mental health issue on the books.

Brandon Lopez6 said:My CT scan came back clean, and the EEG is fine too, except for one tiny detail, which is why I get these "awake seizures." I don't pass out or convulse, I just get hit with these massive episodes that feel a lot like derealization.

Can you describe those episodes? I had two in two years, both for good reason. The first was after a breakup—I hadn't eaten or slept for weeks, just cried constantly. My entire routine was trashed, and then I went to take three finals in one day😲. Naturally, I didn't pass the first one because I blacked out and started seizing. Ended up in the ER on an IV, got brain scans, and then sent home. Then there was the second time; I hadn't slept, and I ended up taking eight 400mg Seroquel pills—that's 3200mg. Instead of passing out, my grandma woke me up and I was just completely drained. Total shutdown. One minute I'm at the emergency room, the next I've got knots on my head from hitting the radiator and my heart racing at 150 BPM. Honestly, it doesn't even feel like epilepsy to me. More like a total brain power-down. I tend to push my body past its limit, so maybe that's just how it shuts off. My labs aren't great either, but I can say the anti-epileptic helps. It calms me down and helps me sleep better. Starting tomorrow, I'll be taking two 🙂
And then there's the other thing. Every once in a while, when I'm exhausted, I get these tremors. Like a bolt of lightning hits me. I'll be walking on flat ground and almost collapse because everything flashes white for a split second🤷

Brandon Lopez6 said:Not sure which anti-epileptic you were prescribed, but those often act as mood stabilizers too, so if you're dealing with epilepsy (like me), it's a win win.
Personally, I didn't deal with any side effects when I started the anti-epileptic.

What specifically do you want to know about Amyzol? I've been on 10mg four times a day for almost a year now. 🙂

I take Depakote Chrono 300mg before bed, then 600mg plus 800mg of Seroquel; they've pretty much stripped everything else away... my dad keeps suggesting Xanax, but honestly, I have no idea how to get hold of anything without risking another overdose. My first question to the neurologist was how that antiepileptic would affect my sleep 🤣 I'm terrified of being wide awake all night. The psychiatrist suggested some kind of injections, but from what I gather, that means staying in the hospital. I need to find out if I can just get those at the local clinic in my small town instead of lying in a hospital bed wasting what little life I have left surrounded by old ladies.

Amyzal 👍

The thing is, my MRI, CT, and EEG don't actually show classic epilepsy—just "brain waves." Supposedly my brain is just burnt out from everything, which caused the seizure, or whatever...

Here I go again (dayria). Banned until four months from now. Things have been hitting rock bottom lately, so I figured I’d share what the last few weeks have looked like. Ended up back in the hospital—this time at a facility in Memphis. I felt half-dead, just waiting to sign the discharge papers so I could get out of there. Since then, everything has been dark. Suicidal thoughts won't leave me alone. I told my psychiatrist today, but of course, my idiot father had to barge into the office and turn it into a massive drama. Now I’m stuck on Prozac, they left me Seroquel, and xanax. To make matters worse, my doctor snatched 😠 right out from under me. On Tuesday the 24th, I was just sitting at my laptop when suddenly I was surrounded by EMTs. My heart rate shot up to 150 beats per minute 😲. Apparently, I collapsed, started shaking, and hit my head on a radiator. Long story short, after all the tests, they think I might have epilepsy 🙂. Just what I needed. Now the psychiatrist is pushing for me and my old man to check into the hospital for two weeks of injections. Absolutely not happening. I barely survived those 14 days last time. Waking up at 6 AM, forced exercises when you'd rather gouge your eyes out, food that tastes like sludge, people who don't even shower, others who just pass gas... no chance. Unless they can arrange for me to get my shots locally here in Nashville, I'm not going. And yeah, they gave me some brutal anti-epileptic med that gives me splitting headaches. I'm exhausted. Maybe third time's the charm if I can finally manage to end it. I need to find a new way. They hid my ☕
