Jerry Lee15 said:We actually discussed this woman on the religion subforum (Thread: What happens after death), and please, don't fall for these kinds of seminars or people.

I believe her healing might have been real, but the way she uses that experience isn't right, in my opinion.
She hasn't drastically changed lives; she's just selling classic New Age philosophy.
And she's misleading people.

You made a good point, and definitely don't let these types get to you. I can't believe she's even holding seminars here in America. 🤦

Since you're struggling, maybe reach out to a priest... or if you're an atheist, pick up the Bible—the New Testament—anyway. Turn to Jesus and you'll see a massive change.👍

Mia, my issue is with the exorbitant cost of these seminars, not whether someone is wading into Christian waters or your "dangerous" New Age territory... I'd suggest actually reading her book rather than judging solely on whether she's Christian or not... that's why I'm weighing in... Sorry.
Thanks for warning us that listening to a philosophy centered on love and gratitude—especially when presented by a non-Christian—is somehow bad or dangerous... personally, I don't think we can ever have enough of that, but hey, everyone is entitled to their own opinion...

Dana Davis5 said:Honestly, regarding Anita Moorjani—if you just take a second to look around, you'll realize there are so many people who have pulled themselves back from serious or even terminal illnesses. I actually know a few of them personally, and I've heard their stories firsthand—including the specific healing methods they used to get better. And man, if you start looking for testimonials online, whether it's on various forums or in those specific Facebook groups, you'll find them everywhere. Seriously, if you're looking for those kinds of stories, you could stumble upon them literally while you're out grabbing a loaf of bread at the local grocery store. 😁

Nick Vujičić makes some incredibly inspiring videos, and the best part is they're totally free. 😉

I think you're right—these kinds of stories are scattered all over the place. It's just that Anita Moorjani and Nick Vujičić made a conscious decision to share their experiences with the world; that doesn't inherently make their journeys more "valuable" or more motivating than anyone else's. Nick does seminars and makes his living as a motivational speaker—he's also a Christian preacher, in a sense, an evangelist of sorts, since he draws all his strength from his faith and the Bible. Then there's Anita, who runs workshops, hosts seminars, and wrote a book—everyone has their own way of doing things. At the end of the day, which story resonates most with a person is entirely subjective.

Scott Miller4 said:If she isn't teaching a specific, actionable technique that people can actually use after the seminar is over, then paying that much just to hear someone recount their own story—which is already available on YouTube—seems pretty excessive.
Just my two cents.

I think there might have been some workshops or something, though personally, those kinds of seminars, techniques, or even two-day intensives don't really do it for me—even if they were free. I mean, unless you hit on some profound, life-altering realization during the session, everything else just ends up being that lovely, fleeting little glow that fades by Monday morning. Truth be told, those price tags make me flinch a little too... but I suppose it's all relative. For one person, getting to meet Anita Moorjani might be worth every penny; for someone else, it’s a total waste of cash; and for a third person, it might actually spark a massive life change.

Scott Miller4 said:Harold Reyes6, did you end up going to the seminar?

To be honest, the price tag feels a bit steep to me. I mean, if it’s just a matter of someone sharing their subjective experience, they could have easily done that for free... just filmed it and uploaded it to YouTube. 🤷
If you were there, though, I’d love to hear what you thought of it. 🙂 I guess everyone has an opinion on these things... but at the end of the day, maybe the most reliable thing is just one person's actual experience being there. 🙂

I didn't go—there's plenty of material to watch on YouTube instead. For me, the cost is also quite high, especially since the seminar itself didn't really grab my attention in the first place. That said, I wouldn't say money is her primary motivation for running these things; though, once someone becomes a public figure, that part comes into play too—the entire project and the support package behind it. But the real question is how much those experiences can actually help us if we haven't lived through them ourselves. Every single day, we have access to various stories, insights, and spiritual guidance
How much of that truly resonates with us... well, that's entirely up to us.

Look, Anita Moorjani isn't out there peddling some kind of "instant cure" or pushing empty, snake-oil nonsense just to line her pockets. It’s more about her simply sharing what she went through—her own subjective experience. You can find plenty of her seminars and videos over on YouTube. There are even versions translated into English by folks who did it purely out of the goodness of their hearts, without asking for a dime. How her story lands on any given person is entirely up to them; whether someone finds a deep, personal message in it or not is a completely subjective matter. But, if we approach this stuff looking for charlatans trying to get rich, then that's exactly what it'll be to us—we'll miss the point entirely. We'll end up blocking the actual message she's trying to convey because we've already decided to be defensive.
