Money can hit your balance through other routes too—like currency conversions from different denominations, topping up via card, or getting a transfer from another Bank account user (kind of like how those other fintech apps work, though I'm not entirely sure what's actually on the table for business users)

I see, thanks for clearing that up!

I appreciate what you're getting at, though I must admit I’m a bit stumped when I click on my USD balance and hit Receive.
"Account details let you receive payments from clients and connect with payment platforms"
The balance itself shows up fine, but somehow, I can't actually take any money.😕

So, what's the play here? Can I just ask them—say, if they're sending $1,000 from their own account—to mark the payment as being sent in HRK? If so, I assume they'd just lose a bit of that $1,000 to whatever conversion fee is baked in.

Or, I could just pay the extra $62 and be done with it, but honestly, I'd much rather actually grasp the mechanics of how this all works. 😁

Thanks for the input—but I was wondering, is there any way I can just give my email address (the one linked to my Wise account) to whoever is paying me, let them send over the USD, and then have those dollars magically convert themselves into local currency before landing in my Wise account? 🎉

I was wondering if anyone might be able to lend a hand here. I’d certainly appreciate it.

So, I run a small independent consultancy here in the States, and I've just landed a contract with a company based in the US. They need to send over my payments every two weeks, and they've given me the choice of using either PayPal or Wise.

Currently, my setup includes PayPal, Revolut, and my standard business checking and savings accounts over at Wells Fargo—plus, I recently opened a Wise account after reading that it tends to be the most cost-effective option for this kind of thing.

I've already activated my Wise business account and even sent over a 150 HRK verification deposit, which is currently sitting in my Wise balance.

The issue is, when I navigate to my HRK balance and try to click "Receive"—specifically the "View and share account details" or "Request a payment" options—everything is just greyed out. I can't click a single thing.

Furthermore, if I head over to the USD section under Account details, Wise is prompting me to pay a one-time fee of 185 HRK for the ability to "receive payments from clients and connect with payment platforms." It seems like I'm stuck in a loop where I can't actually collect any money unless I pay this extra fee upfront.

Does anyone know what the actual process is to get this sorted so I can finally start receiving funds through Wise? Thanks in advance!

If you ask me—and I say this with all due respect to your situation—you might find more value in seeing a psychologist rather than a psychiatrist. At least with a therapist, they aren't going to just hand you some prescription or push some heavy medication down your throat; instead, you actually get to sit down, have a proper conversation, and work through things... and that’s really where the progress happens.
