Justin Chavez6 said:Honestly, in this digital age, it’s totally doable for some huge corporation to scout you out while you're just chilling at home if they actually dig what you're doing. It happens more often than you'd think.

Also, journalists are the ones shaping the narrative, and if you've ever had the chance to read a story after getting to know the actual backstory, you'll see how much can get lost in translation—not to mention the facts being twisted. At the end of the day, the reporter just wants to write something catchy that grabs attention.

About ten years ago, a reporter dropped by the company I was working for because they wanted to do a piece on us, since we were doing pretty well in such a niche field. He asked a few questions and then just took off. I couldn't stop thinking about it, though, so I insisted on seeing the draft before anything went live. When it finally hit my inbox, half of it was just flat-out wrong, and the headline was so over-the-top dramatic that I had to nix that too.
I guess the article never ended up running; the reporter probably took it personally.

Then there was this one time after an exhibition where my director told a journalist how much he valued the experience, especially attending a four-day seminar in London led by a world-class expert in our industry. Well, the published article claimed he had graduated from a four-year college in London instead.

Finally, a few years back, some reporters came around again, and this time the piece was actually decent—still a little clunky, sure, but accurate. And no, there was absolutely no need for them to list exactly how much stuff we sold to whom.

The girl featured in that article is clearly educated, talented, and really driven. She’s got the connections that are going to carry her far in the future. For someone starting out, that’s a win; nobody expects you to just wake up with a million dollars in the bank. Plus, she's young and pretty, so you basically have the perfect recipe for a news story right there.

Sure, anything is possible, but those opportunities don't just fall into your lap every day...
I mean, look, as long as you're alive, there are possibilities,
but it's like saying it's technically possible for a Boeing 747 to fall out of the sky and land on your head—realistically? Not a chance.😉

Now, I have no idea how much schooling she actually has...
But one thing is absolutely clear: she isn't some massive success story, she isn't particularly stunning, and she's certainly not "young" anymore... and obviously, she lacks any real connections.
I personally dig her lifestyle, but calling her "successful"...
well, that’s an idea only someone who considers having a kid or landing a job at Walmart as a peak achievement would suggest.
If she actually had any clout, she’d be working on a decent project with a respectable salary somewhere, rather than scraping by teaching English in some random town where anyone can show up and claim to teach it just because they're white.
She's in some band that nobody has ever heard of (despite whatever YouTube views they claim to have)....🤣

Just for comparison, let's look at some other trash... you know, these "success stories," the young and beautiful types from that "industry."

Half a million views in a country of nearly 330 million people, and then you look at China...🤣
Alex Miller3 said:And how does one thing exclude the other?
We're just commenting on a specific article.

It’s the classic picture we see around here,
the real issue arises when some random girl lies or plays games and doesn't directly hurt anyone... except by making a complete fool out of herself!
Then suddenly, massive threads pop up on this forum because, hey, she's "damaging the mental state" and the social fabric of our youth, right?

But is it really a problem that we've been living in this blatant atmosphere of dishonesty for 27 years and nobody gives a damn!?
Why have people like us been playing clowns and running circuses for so long that even a man without a spine would grow one just watching us? But no, nothing happens...
It's typical small-town mentality,
you'll throw a poor kid in jail for stealing a pack of gum, yet you pat criminals on the back and congratulate them on being "successful"...
The reason I'm bringing this up is that I haven't seen anyone start a thread here about the media's reputation and how they make all of us look like idiots, right along with those crowds over at Times Square.

I don't know why it feels so obvious to me, but then there are those threads about Walmart...
everyone went absolutely ballistic claiming that some CEO is intentionally nickel-and-diming us for pennies (it’s barely a cent, for heaven's sake)...
yet nobody actually looks at what he's truly doing, or at least doesn't bother writing about it in the thread...
Honestly, it’s pure comedy. :klap:
It's the same in every single sector—we just can't see the forest for the trees.😁
Alex Miller3 said:Since I actually know the person this kind of fluff piece was written about a few years back, yeah... it’s totally overhyped and way too "stylized."
By stylized, I mean nothing in there is technically a lie, but they write it up like some epic fairy tale, just super inflated...
And honestly, that stuff really messes with people's heads.
I know firsthand how much trouble I've had with my own kids because of the internet and all these fake lives being projected everywhere. You hit a breaking point and you're just like... where am I going wrong? Because I'm working myself to death here...
So, I once tried putting together a little profile for my daughter based on her actual work and achievements, pretty much doing exactly what these people in the article do.
She ended up 😲looking at her own life and barely recognizing herself, even though none of it was even a lie.

I don't quite follow what you mean by "one little crack" and how that doesn't have a ripple effect;

The truth is, we've been living a lie for a quarter of a century now, just pure deception...😉

We've been fed this lie for probably 27 years straight... whether it's our own people or those from abroad...
those who are so quick to jump into "storytelling, fairy tales, and pure fantasy"
they're almost better at it than the locals are..😁

So, this girl who just happens to "love to brag" (without any real malice) and is just trying to get a little momentum behind her name? To me, she seems like a total saint compared to these con artists who lie, exploit our lives, and drive us straight into the ground. She's nothing like them.😁
But sure, let's just say *she's* the problem...🤔
rustywalker42 said:Learned the exact same way. (:

Of course they sugarcoat it. That's exactly why I started this thread—to see what everyone else thinks. I agree with you, mostly, except on a few minor points... mainly the moral ones. 😁

Quincy:
How exactly is some random trash supposed to make you lose it? Seriously?
So you're just unstable by nature? That’s not exactly a great look...🤔
What did she even do? You could have handled that yourself...😉
So she was labeled a failure just because she couldn't figure out how to weaponize being a woman? Is that where we're at now?😁
I don't know. Am I losing my grip because of Miranda? 😁Yeah, I'm with her on this one. News like this is just toxic. It paints this totally fake picture of success that isn't actually happening.

Quincy:
I’m saying it again.
So, what exactly makes her so successful?
Let’s be real. Her big "success"? It’s just the standard track for any typical American student. Seriously, nothing special about it.
So, some journalist wrote this whole big piece about how she saved some local disaster. Honestly? It’s nothing special. Just more hype for zero substance.
She can barely scrape together enough part-time gigs just to keep her head above water, let alone afford a trip or actually have any fun.
Some half-baked design nonsense just wrapped up... thank God they didn't graduate from RISD.
Look at how this article is written. Everything is "world-class." Everything is "the absolute best." That’s the whole point, isn't it?

Quincy:
It’s logical to assume if she lived there, she picked up the language. But still... language is a living thing. If you don't use it, you're out.
I mean, sure, I can hold my own in Canada or maybe even up in Seattle... but let’s not kid ourselves. It's not like I'm suddenly fluent. I can hack through the basics with an axe if I have to. But anyone actually listening who knows those languages? They’re probably dying of laughter.😁
I'm honestly terrified she actually mastered six different languages just by bouncing around some cities for a few months at a time. How does that even work?

Let's not turn this thread into a debate about them. Not here.

My bad on the name, sorry...👍

Personally, I don't think the news itself is harmful,
because I really don't see anything malicious happening here... sure, it's a bit of classic smoke and mirrors and self-congratulation...
but honestly, it's better to read something like that than some mindless news cycle or those "typical American daily life" fluff pieces.

If you (or they) have a real sense of SELF, a genuine life story, a philosophy, actual knowledge, and real experience... I don't see how some trashy article could ever diminish that.
Besides, everything the media does is driven by the same underlying interest...
Take the ski season right now, for instance...
The media pumps it up (because the owners dictate it) and the public eats it up..
It's not rocket science... the people who have money will always have it, and it always has been that way!
People buy houses, people have sex... it's not exactly a massive crisis..
It's all just sensationalist headlines designed to stir the pot and trick the gullible crowd into trying to sell themselves on a lifestyle they can't afford...😁
And then we end up back at that same tired topic: the idea that you *must* have a new car, a new house, a new wife, a new job... because if you don't... you're a loser. And why? Because Huseinoba and Steve & brand from Beverly Hills said so, since they're clearly the gold standard for everyone else, right?😁
Then, naturally, the idiots follow suit, working themselves to death like dogs... take Joe, for example. Instead of spending time with his wife, he's stuck working overtime for the sixteenth time in a row, while of course, his wife has already moved on to the Postman...
Marriage falls apart because Joe is just an intolerant, narrow-minded guy..
And yet, we all try so hard to finally act like we're part of the Western elite,
where everyone is just an individualist looking out for themselves... including Joe, the Postman, and his wife...😁
rustywalker42 said:That’s exactly how I see it. Articles like this just trigger that exact reaction in people. They start wondering—wait, if that's an issue, then where exactly is my problem?

But read him again. Every single paragraph is just a list of "achievements." Seriously? Nobody gets that lucky. Not even the wealthiest people in the country. Look, I don’t mind an article being written, but at least make it realistic. Instead of acting like she's this self-made prodigy when she actually speaks six languages—including various regional dialects and English—and her millionaire parents sent her to school in New York City and have been bankrolling her entire life. That’s my point. This kind of fake PR creates this massive illusion of success that is nowhere near the truth.
That’s like saying you work at Google, then just conveniently forgetting to mention you're actually scrubbing dishes in the Google cafeteria. You didn't lie, per se. You just gave the truth a little makeover.

Yeah, that’s exactly what I was thinking too. 😁 Time to add Mexican to the list too. 😬

Anthony,
How on earth can some absolute pile of garbage cause you to be emotionally unstable? Seriously, I’m struggling to wrap my head around that logic. It’s just nonsense.
Look, if you’re fundamentally unstable, you’ve got a problem that goes way deeper than any single argument or specific situation. It’s a character flaw, plain and simple, and honestly? That kind of volatility is a recipe for disaster. You can't just patch over someone who lacks a solid foundation.🤔
Look, you really could have stepped up and done something about all that mess she caused...😉
They basically wrote her off as a failure simply because she couldn't figure out how to weaponize being a woman to gain some kind of massive advantage. It’s the same old story.😁

Honestly, if you ask me, the whole thing is just a complete joke. It’s nothing more than a pathetic attempt at humor that ends up being cringeworthy. You see it all the time—people trying way too hard to crack these cheap, tasteless jokes in dive bars, thinking they're being clever when they're really just making everyone uncomfortable. It’s just mindless, low-brow nonsense.
Look, I’m not one to preach, but we all know that being able to laugh at the absurdity of it all is sometimes the only thing keeping us sane. It’s good for the soul, truly.😁
It’s honestly pathetic how people go out of their way to embarrass themselves over absolutely nothing. You see it all the time—people throwing themselves under the bus, making fools of themselves, and then acting like they didn't just commit social suicide in front of everyone. It’s unnecessary, it’s loud, and quite frankly, it's exhausting to watch. Why do people feel the need to be so incredibly reckless with their own reputations? I mean, seriously, have some self-respect.

What exactly are we supposed to expect from a country where the same handful of people stay in power indefinitely? It’s nothing but a massive disgrace—a total embarrassment to everyone living here.
They just keep on lying through their teeth without even blinking, acting like they aren't total frauds. It’s honestly pathetic to watch that vein pop in their forehead when they're caught in a lie. If people who are supposedly "upstanding" can't even manage to be honest, what on earth are you supposed to expect from some random stranger out on the street? When someone is just driven by pure instinct to claw their way into a better life, why would anyone expect them to play by the rules? It's all just survival of the fittest at that point.

I’m going to say this again, because apparently, I haven't made myself clear enough the first time.
What exactly makes her so successful? I mean, seriously, where does all this praise come from? It’s one of those things that really gets under my skin because when you actually sit down and look at the mechanics of it—really dissect the way she operates—it doesn't always add up to the hype we see in the media. I remember back when I was working a grueling stint over in Chicago, dealing with some incredibly high-pressure management, and I saw this exact same pattern. You have these figures who seem to glide through everything, and everyone just nods along like they've reached some pinnacle of achievement. But if you pull back the curtain, is it actual talent, or is it just a very polished brand? Is it strategy, or is it just being in the right place at the right time while everyone else is doing the heavy lifting? It feels like we’re constantly being sold this narrative of effortless excellence, but I’ve always been the type to demand a bit more substance before I start buying into the cult of personality. What is the actual foundation here? If you can't point to a specific, repeatable methodology, then calling it "success" starts to feel a bit hollow, doesn't it? I'm genuinely curious if anyone has a real answer, or if we're all just following the trend.
Let’s be real right out of the gate: this supposed "massive success" of hers is nothing more than the standard trajectory for any typical college student in America. Honestly? It’s completely unremarkable. There is absolutely nothing special about it.
So, some journalist just churned out this massive write-up about how she supposedly "saved" that absolute disaster of a local politician. Honestly? It’s nothing special. Just more sensationalist fluff designed to make her look like a hero while polishing the image of someone who is fundamentally incompetent. I've seen better storytelling in a middle school newsletter.
Look, let's be real here—this girl is out there scraping by on whatever part-time gigs she can stumble upon just to keep her head above water. It’s a constant struggle. She’s working these random shifts just to afford basic necessities, fund her travels, or even just have a little bit of fun every now and then. It’s a grind, honestly. One minute you're picking up extra hours at a coffee shop or running errands, and the next, you're praying the paycheck actually covers your flight to Vegas or a weekend trip to Miami. It’s exhausting, seeing someone hustle that hard just to maintain some semblance of a social life and see the world.
Some half-baked design project just wrapped up... honestly, thank God it wasn't some degree from RISD.
I’ve lived in quite a few different cities around the globe—and honestly, I have nothing but respect for that kind of life.
She was clearly trying to worm her way into some kind of position—though, if she actually ended up landing somewhere in China, then it’s obvious those Western bureaucrats didn't fall for her nonsense. They saw right through her stories, which were nothing more than cheap bar talk.
And now they’re slashing prices just to see if anyone is desperate enough to take the bait... Typical.
I suppose she enjoyed wandering around aimlessly for a while, but honestly, it’s about time she actually found a place to settle down. You can't just drift forever. Besides, time waits for no one—the years have a way of catching up with you whether you're ready or not.
Look, let’s be honest about how this world actually works. It’s brutal out there. If you aren't making moves and breaking through the noise at a rapid pace, you aren't just standing still—you’re actively sinking. You’re sliding toward failure while everyone else is accelerating past you. I learned this the hard way back when I was trying to climb the ladder at a firm in Chicago; if you weren't the first one in and the last one out, making sure your name was known, you were basically invisible. And in this economy? Being invisible is just a slow way to go broke. You either find your lane and floor it, or you get left in the dust. Simple as that.
It seems like everyone’s obsessed with playing the part of some high-society, white-collar elitist lately. Nobody wants to get their hands dirty anymore. Everyone wants the fancy office, the designer suit, and the prestige, but nobody actually wants to step foot on a construction site or deal with the grit and grime of real labor. It's all about the image, and zero percent about the actual work.
And then there’s the whole language issue... honestly, that's a massive question all on its own.
I mean, logically speaking, if someone actually lived somewhere for a significant amount of time, you’d assume they picked up the language. It’s common sense, right? But then again... language isn't some static thing you just download and store on a hard drive. It’s a living, breathing entity. If you aren't actively using it, if you aren't pushing it every single day, you're essentially out. You lose that edge. It's like any other skill—you stop practicing, you start fading. Simple as that.
Look, I’m not saying I can sit down in a boardroom in London or Tokyo and conduct high-level negotiations in their native tongues—I can't claim that level of fluency. If things get complicated, I usually just resort to some basic hand gestures or broken phrases to hack my way through the conversation. But let me tell you, when there's someone else in the room who actually understands the nuances of what's being said? Someone who's truly listening and knows those languages inside and out? Man, they’re usually sitting there biting their lip, trying desperately not to burst out laughing at the absurdity of it all.😁
I honestly think if newspapers actually committed to serious, analytical investigative journalism, they’d stumble right into the most critical fractures facing today's free world and our democratic constitutional norms. 😁

1. They’d get slapped down immediately. You aren't even allowed to question the concept of "democracy" anymore because it’s treated as an untouchable absolute, and the media acts as the primary enforcement tool for that dogma. 😁

2. The stories wouldn't be so "digestible" or fast-paced; you’d run into a lot of uncomfortable silence and tension instead of easy headlines.

3. Most journalists have been reduced to mere scribblers chasing Hollywood-style blockbusters. Their entire skill set now is basically just Googling and re-writing snippets from outlets like the BBC, the NYT, or CNN—outlets that were essentially engineered for a consumerist-washed populace. Anything with actual substance has either been shot down or driven out of business. All that's left are the cronies and the social climbers who are all about staying in the good graces of the establishment. 😁

4. And let's not pretend the audience is innocent here. The average Facebook reader isn't even capable of grasping or accepting a truly heavy, nuanced piece of writing.
Which, frankly, explains why circulation is cratering anyway.

5. Perhaps most importantly, if they actually wrote about truly successful people—I mean people who have achieved something meaningful within relevant frameworks—these ragtag publications would go out of business because there wouldn't be enough meat left on their bones to sustain them. 😁

We aren't successful as a society today. If we were, we wouldn't be stuck where we are. It’s all just tribalistic nonsense, pouring energy from one void into another.
In this setup, you have those who are labeled "successful" and then everyone else...
For some, success means stealing, cheating, bribing, exploiting, or bullying. Then you have the ones who refuse to play by those crooked rules and are branded as failures. 😁
I honestly feel like we’re just being petty or spitting on people just for the sake of it lately... which isn't my intention at all, I'm just genuinely bored...😁
Al it always cracks me up when someone shows up to the court and doesn't even know how to tie their own damn shoes. Like, seriously? Go train first before you show up here.😁

Though, I think Killer might actually have a point here... I'm leaning towards agreeing with him.

There’s definitely someone out there "merging the pleasant with the practical" for her and the media outlets... she gets the PR boost, and the media gets a juicy story to print.

What does it even mean to travel "up and down and all around"...
I hear that phrase constantly—people bragging about how they've traveled "everywhere."
But then later, once things get a little more intense, you realize the truth: you haven't even set foot in Canada or Germany... you've just popped over to Tunis, Paris, Thailand, or gone shopping in London...
This one is more like a hardcore slow traveler, if you ask me.😁
Richard Lewis16 said:well, there actually is someone from America who ended up in that same generation that earned a PhD at MIT, I think they even teach there now, someone from the States...
back in college, they had issues with their professors, simply because they were too smart (winning all sorts of awards back in high school, etc.)...
I just doubt there will ever be a magazine article about them, even though they built a very successful career...

look, everything mentioned is possible, so why not...
you lose a scholarship, you land a killer internship—it's all just a factor of luck...
because maybe for that specific scholarship, she was the only one from America, and they just decided that particular year to give some underdog from the US a chance...
She probably had failures too, but she just doesn't list them here...
If a journalist were writing a positive profile about me, they’d only talk about my wins, they wouldn't mention the giraffe...
I got lucky, happened to be in the right place at the right time and met that person...
went over there and met the exact person who suggested it to me and I thought, why not...
etc.

anyway, personally, I believe...
and if you're even moderately attractive, you have about 130% more luck than I do...
ps + clearly she has a knack for languages (which I certainly don't), which makes things move a lot faster and easier for her...
I mean, her six months in Brazil and that writing about climbing Machu Picchu is nothing, that's purely touristy stuff; I once led an expedition to the southernmost point of South America, and there'll probably be an American flag with my greatness on it in a documentary airing in Australia...
and honestly, I didn't plan it, it just happened because I was working at a hostel where they were staying, and since they were waiting around, we hit it off and I just tagged along...
and of course, I'm not going to tell the newspapers that six months later my feet were absolutely destroyed and all that...

Killer, I’m starting to notice that the fish are getting some serious competition in the pond... or maybe that’s just my imagination playing tricks on me.😁

And there it is... yet another pathetic excuse for a media outlet. Just absolute garbage.
Look, you have to understand that any given media outlet—no matter how much you love or hate it—operates within its own ecosystem. It has its own loyal following, its own specific set of unwritten rules, and its own internal logic that dictates how it functions. It’s an entire world unto itself.😁
Don't you worry, she'll get her big moment in the spotlight soon enough. Once that precious little Frederick finally screws up and ends up in some mess with a guy in Brooklyn, or maybe he decides to rob a local campus police station over at MIT, then—and only then—will she actually get an article written about him. Just wait.👍

Of course, anything is technically possible, especially when you look at how things operate overseas... but I can't shake the feeling that this whole thing is just some massive, overblown PR stunt designed to distract people with financial nonsense. I’ll admit it—I might be wrong on this one, but my gut is telling me otherwise.

I mean, look, I don't have anything against her personally. Everything she’s saying holds weight because, at the end of the day, she actually has the track record to back it up. She's got the results to prove she knows what she's talking about.

It reminds me of women and their children... like that diet I was on once. I remember sitting there, reading what Shakespeare had to say about losing weight, back when I was spending time with Vladimir Vladimirovich...
Look, I’ve been sitting here staring at this for a while, and honestly? It’s all just noise to me. They keep talking about those five specific pillars—those "five points" they swear by—but where is the actual substance? Where is the payoff? I’ve been watching this play out, waiting for the impact, but I’m seeing absolutely zero results. It feels like we're just spinning our wheels while everyone else pretends there's progress being made. It's frustrating, frankly.😁

Look, you can't seriously sit there and tell me that playing in some Chinese band is some kind of massive achievement. It’s just a job. We have countless Americans out there drifting all over the globe, just trying to make a living. They’re performing in clubs, working odd jobs, washing dishes, sleeping around, hauling furniture, or even running small-time smuggling operations just to get by. People travel. They move. They hustle. Calling one specific gig a "result" is just lazy thinking.
If you ask me, this isn't some one-time win or a fleeting achievement to be checked off a list. It’s more than that. It’s a way of life.
My apologies, but this bird just isn't cutting it...👎
So, a small part of my theory is sinking fast, but since some people clearly don't have very high standards... my theory is at least bobbing around on the surface like a piece of driftwood.😁

Since I’ve got some downtime right now, I did a quick little search (by which I mean a Google search😁) regarding this fish,
and Google says NADA_O—honestly, that anonymous entity is more legendary than I am...🤔
It’s glaringly obvious that this is just some paid press piece designed as a tactical maneuver... one that the girl is clearly planning to pull off... and that maneuver is "Go Home."
She’s trying to find some "sheep" here to "buy into the story" so she can keep pretending to be "successful."😁

If you ask me, I still don't see any actual, meaningful success here, the kind of thing any of us could have pulled off, frankly...
And on top of that, posting in trash media... hm...
The fact that she’s hiding behind certain supposedly famous names (which, God knows, I can't even identify) says everything we need to know about her.
I’ve spent time working and socializing around the wealthiest people in America (though I'll just let you in on a little secret: I used to furnish their mansions for a few measly bucks😁).
And don't even get me started on how massive the volunteer system is out there... so maybe the girl was just volunteering (meaning her work experience😁).
But even with all that listed, her absolute peak achievement is probably playing in some amateur Chinese band...🤔

Bottom line: I believe everything she says,
and I also believe she’s heavily undersold a huge chunk of this story...
just so the version she *did* tell (assuming the media didn't butcher the facts?!) would look even more brilliant.
I have nothing to hold against her, except for the fact that I actually thought she was something special.
She’s bragging and trying to sell herself just like anyone else; let someone else throw the first stone if they aren't stretching the truth just a little bit on their CV.😁
Anthony,
what is even the issue with this girl!?🙂

I honestly don't see why she couldn't pull it all off, especially after she moved abroad...
I mean, she surely had to be out there hustling somehow (since she clearly wasn't doing anything high-brow) in terms of networking and just rubbing elbows with the right people..
and like Richard Lewis16 said,
with a little bit of luck (which people always seem to forget when they succeed—they act like it was all their own selfish drive when, really, God played a part too),
natural talent, and a massive amount of hard work, I don't see a problem with who she is as a person.
Look, it’s not like she earned a PhD at MIT or even an engineering degree in Chicago... she's just one of those indie/artsy types...
Especially considering she probably only ever showed the "sunny side" of her life...😁
It's common knowledge that in the showbiz industry, everything runs on favors and connections, so I don't see any reason why people over there would be immune to that, frankly...

Besides, ending up in China as a pretty foreign woman carries its own price tag... which is obviously where she can maximize her value..😁

And beyond that, why are we even calling this a success story!?
By what metric is she considered "ultra-successful" (though I suppose she is)? There are thousands of girls just like her..
At the end of the day, everyone defines success differently..
I mean, at this rate, someone might declare Emma Dvornik a massive success just because she lives in London... give me a break...🤣
Or someone could have a kid and suddenly be considered successful... 👏
😲
🙏🙏🙏

What can I even say...? Aside from giving you all a massive round of applause!!

You really pulled a fast one on me there... now I see clearly that the guy from Delta Air Lines called in his buddies just to back him up...😁

The only thing that truly frustrates me about how you all handle things when it comes to me is this... that this whole thing is just a small-town operation, a bunch of local Americans playing games, while the entire universe is wide open and limitless...😁

Listen,

I’m looking for some clarification on why I’ve been banned this time...

this is what popped up...

Thomas Hernandez11, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

SO BASICALLY, I’VE BEEN BLOCKED FROM THE TRAVEL SUBREDDIT....👎🙏

And I haven't broken a single rule on Reddit or within the Travel subreddit. If anything, in my last few posts, I was dropping a mountain of advice and sharing actual experiences regarding New York City and Chicago... topics I was just writing about...

But instead of getting any thanks, I get BANNED by what I assume is a moderator who clearly has a massive grudge against me. It’s probably just Harold Taylor6 being himself....🤷

Meanwhile, you see other users on this site breaking every single rule in the book... insulting people, spamming... even some people are openly calling for moderator intervention (and I’m not talking about myself here🙂)... but the moderator is apparently too busy focusing on how to ban me.

Every time I think things can't get any worse... boom. Here’s Harold Taylor6, sinking like the USS Connecticut in the deep sea....

1-I AM REQUESTING THAT MY (UNJUSTIFIED) ACCESS TO THE TRAVEL SUBREDDIT BE RESTORED....
2-I AM CALLING ON THE AUTHORITIES HERE.....TO PUT AN END TO THE TYRANNY OF MODERATOR HAROLD TAYLOR6 AND REPLACE HIM WITH SOMEONE WHO ACTUALLY CONTRIBUTES TO THE DISCUSSIONS—SOMEONE UNBIASED, NOT HYPOCRITICAL, AND AS FAIR AS POSSIBLE..

Jeffrey Garcia6 said:That linked post deserved a ban... specifically the one where they start talking trash about this whole site.

I’m going to dig into this matter a bit more before we see where things land...

Look,
please, just look at the context of a few posts before you jump to any kind of realistic conclusion...
PLEASE RE-EXAMINE THE TRAVEL PDF AGAIN BECAUSE THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE SCANDAL... the way Harold Taylor6 is failing to moderate here is pathetic... to him, Saddam Hussein is basically a preschooler...

Essentially, I corrected a certain "esteemed" female user on this site regarding an obvious inaccuracy, only to have her unleash every insult her limited intellectual capacity could possibly muster against me...
And how do the moderators respond? They come at me with a warning from the FBI, threatening me with a ban if I dare mention the topic again... meanwhile, this same user gets absolutely nothing for a relentless streak of SPAMMING, being OFF-TOPIC, INSULTING, and LYING... even a fellow user who acts as a "neutral third party" and points out—in a way even a blind man could see—that this woman is behaving this way, gets slapped with a ban too...
Honestly, people,
what happened there? Is it just because "politics is sensitive"... or some other close subject, that you suddenly have instructions, orders, and directives telling you exactly who to protect on Reddit...
But in a travel PDF thread? This level of bias... I have to admit, I have never experienced anything quite like this, anywhere else...🙏👎
"Injustice" should probably be part of the official Reddit signature...

Harold Taylor6 says: Look at the post
You clearly have no clue how laws work :S Omg, they are just there to be broken and tolerated?! WTF?!
It doesn't matter, everything will be fine...

Regarding that "tolerance" thing, that 10% margin exists because of the actual speed detection devices themselves (there are various technical factors affecting the equipment), which can lead to discrepancies etc... Otherwise, they would just set the limit 10% higher everywhere and call it a day. It has nothing to do with being tolerant toward breaking the law
I honestly don't understand why this is causing you such confusion and bewilderment... I mean, is it really that unclear to you?!
I feel like anything I wrote above should be perfectly clear to the average person, provided of course they actually understand the English language... so maybe that's where your issue lies, I don't know...
Fine,
let's say I really am clueless... but since you clearly think you're the expert—well, here's your golden opportunity to show off... to "educate" me (as you put it)... so please, tell me, based on what specific logic did you conclude that I "have no clue"...
So, let me clarify for you (I trust you'll grasp it on this attempt; don't disappoint me now)...
Laws are regulations, and lawmakers generally write them knowing full well that a certain number of people won't follow them... so, from the very beginning, those legislators establish rewards or penalties for those exact cases.... That's what I meant when I said "they are there to be broken."
Furthermore, I don't know how familiar you are with the phrase "the law is just dead ink on paper"...
You also probably know that it's the Supreme Court that decides on the penalties prescribed by the legislature... not some repressive enforcement agent...
That's why when you go to court, even if you committed a violation... your case is reviewed individually, and accordingly, a JUST and fair decision is made.... But obviously, that's all completely foreign to you, isn't it? Because if you actually knew, we wouldn't be having this whole DEBATE..
But I see you're a complete novice when it comes to traffic law... so let me tell you, even in that field, we have something in America called a "warning," which can even be issued by a repressive official, like a cop... and if you get caught committing a violation...
And as for radars and speed... well, they WOULDN'T just set it 10% higher, because that would contradict traffic engineering principles... you know... there's such a thing as CALCULATED Speed vs. ACTUAL Speed... google it sometime....

So, long story short.... You UNJUSTLY DELETED MY POST... which might be illegal, but it isn't criminal in the sense of walking into a bar in New York City and trying to order a cheap Budweiser or Miller while nobody gives a damn about whether your ID is fake or not, as long as you PAID FOR YOUR BEER....

P.S.—I'd like to ask the moderator who—while apparently waiting for the perfect moment to strike while I was away off-topic—deleted PART OF MY POST just to present their own "truth" as the only valid one... which is totally against the spirit of this forum and VIOLATES Reddit's rules.
Best Buy,
Reddit

To whom it may concern,

I would like a brief explanation as to what the problem is with this post... specifically, why was I given a strike..!?
Because this is supposed to be a forum, where discussions are allowed and encouraged... regardless of whether my opinion happens to clash with the moderator's

Because I stayed on topic, I wasn't spamming... and the only one actually spamming in context was the moderator himself..
I realize he might not like my opinion, but that should never be a reason for a moderator to be biased

Basically, a fellow user asked "how can he drink in NYC if he's under 21"...

To which I replied that "he should make a fake ID that says he's over 21"
Which is common practice in the US, and in NYC among older teenagers too..
It feels like the moderator is finally starting to lean into this blatant repression—deleting posts and now even handing out bans...
Looking at everything I’ve laid out here, it should be crystal clear that this POST IS IN NO WAY SPAM, nor am I accusing anyone of heavy criminal activity... that’s just how this moderator is trying to "twist my words"... because quite frankly, there are some unresolved issues here that they are trying to sweep under the rug by reducing everything to such a shallow level...

I am asking for an objective analysis, if one is even possible given the circumstances...

thanks

Hold on just a second here...

You claim that you aren't being vindictive, yet you tell me my tolerance threshold is "ZERO" (to use your own words).🤔 You’re being incredibly contradictory in your assertions...

Because apparently, I've crossed the line too many times to actually learn anything, right? 😕
From where I’m sitting, you aren't here to lecture me; you're here to moderate, provide proper direction, and eventually hand out penalties for breaking the rules of the PDF files and this Reddit thread... It seems to me you've overstepped your authority and taken liberties that simply aren't yours to take... Which is exactly what I pointed out when I opened this thread... And now, you've gone ahead and proven my point all over again...

In my previous comments, I tried to explain to you that regarding the CIA matter, we aren't talking about one or two instances of trolling or insults (which you seem perfectly fine letting others get away with, but won't allow from me)... No, Harold Taylor6, we are talking about over 100 troll posts... How do you explain that? Your colleague Elon Musk and even yourself have taken the initiative to troll through dozens of tourism threads...🤷

I'd go so far as to say that this CIA agent has more troll posts than I have total posts on Reddit combined.

Furthermore, I want to know,

How is it that you haven't sent me a single warning via PM? You insist that you send them—in fact, you went out of your way to claim you did in your previous post (as I noted)—but you didn't give me a warning or a strike; you just banned me directly. Whatever you're trying to sell me here is a lie. Get your story straight with yourself...

Because everything you say constantly clashes with your actual actions as a moderator...
I mean, you mention these double standards... Yet, as one of the most prominent users here, you are the very first one to apply them yourself, which is as clear as day based on my own personal experience in this situation...

P.S.—You used to hand me strikes and bans for much smaller outbursts than this one. I am genuinely curious how you plan to justify this... Or are you going to hide behind my post under the username Thomas Hernandez11 again? (For which I already apologized for the vulgarity, and you, acting like a true gentleman in your manner, accepted the apology)... This is truly obnoxious.😢 👎

"And even then, you don't want to/can't reason with them."

Look,

I brought her up as an example of trolling since you claimed you don't tolerate that kind of blatant trolling... but by using her as an example, you're proving that you ignore the truth because she’s still trolling and insulting people—and the freshest example is that first link I posted right above..

On that link, it is "clear as day" that she was the first one, an uninvited guest in the discussion, who started throwing insults and provocations...

Are you seriously telling me you didn't see that? That you didn't perceive it as an insult or trolling..?!
Because if your answer is affirmative, then I really don't see any point in your future moderation of this subreddit—because if you can't handle elementary things like this,... and if your answer is negative, then you've just confirmed my suspicion regarding your lack of objectivity and how biased you are toward certain users on this site..
Either way, both options are UNDENIABLY BAD for the users of this Reddit thread, which used to be—and should remain—the best place for exchanging ideas in the US, but only only through quality work, which, based on your series of "facts," you are certainly not providing

Moving on,
To answer you... though there's no point or credit in doing so... regarding that other forum,
I had no need there; I wasn't put in a situation where I had to resort to that kind of language, because the people I talk to aren't on that level, and the people who run and moderate that community actually do their jobs PROFESSIONALLY... and the threshold for tolerance and justice isn't something that is a privilege for a few "loudmouth users (with huge post counts)"... it's a given...
And yet, in your SECOND POST here, you bring up those same entries again (and just so there's no confusion, I did write my name and SIGNED IT... so you shouldn't have needed to hunt for my IP, because if I hadn't wanted to sign it, you wouldn't have found me even via IP), which you're now using as an argument to harass me for the rest of my life on this platform.
By the way, when you present everything a second time, it would be polite on your part to provide the full chronology... specifically, what reason led me to open a new account and address you publicly on this subreddit... remember, you slapped me with a ban without any explanation, reason, or warning... and the biggest absurdity was that in that specific post, I was insulting—bluntly, provoked—to which I merely responded with facts (for which you clearly couldn't find an objective reason to ban me)... yet you just handed it to me, so to speak, "just because"... while the provocateur and user who was hurling insults (Joe Biden) got nothing..

http://www.reddit.com/r/thread/t=51218&page=16

I mean, I don't know what else to think... other than that you are protecting her 🤷.

I only draw one conclusion from all of this: that you are MALICIOUS, VENGEFUL, AND BIASED... because what other objective reason could there be for you to pile bans and penalties on me over practically nothing... while you did absolutely nothing to the person who started insulting me... and since no one else has suggested this to me (aside from those few users mentioned above who hate me far too much), the conclusion seems to present itself...🤷

These are just one of many examples that come to mind, and there are plenty more...
Anyway, as I said before, it's not just about me... Other people have complained about your work, too... it's just that nobody wants to get into conflicts or "swim against the current"... so they let it slide, which unfortunately I didn't do, because by nature, I cannot tolerate injustice... and I am aware that nothing will change, but at least let some people see how things actually stand...😢

Look,
you made up your mind about me a long time ago... honestly, I have no idea why... maybe it’s some kind of geographical bias... but frankly, that’s not my problem,
I simply stated my opinion, which you are clearly trying to obstruct even with this post...,
to be blunt, you represent "nobody and nothing" to me (nothing personal, obviously—lest you misinterpret that, just as I’m sure you misinterpret everything I say)... I was just speaking out regarding your truly... I don't even know how else to put it criminal moderation work.. because if this kind of behavior happened in the real world—say, if you performed your duties this way at a legitimate corporation you actually worked for... I guarantee you wouldn't last a week there...

Furthermore,
you claim that you "!don't like trolling and provocation".... and that you tolerate "2-3 troll posts"...

Man, are you even aware that half of the activity on this entire subreddit is basically just trolling and petty undermining and provocation, almost exclusively coming from two or three specific users including Joe Biden... and when it comes to the trolling, I sometimes have to point out that it's mostly just your buddies and your fellow moderator... seriously, it doesn't happen anywhere else like this!!!!

Here’s an example... (after being silent for about 3 months)... my first post on the Delta Air Lines thread... I asked a question....
And what did your supposed favorite (honestly, why me?) Joe Biden insult me for on multiple occasions... which I partially ignored... because I assumed you would delete it and take proper action (which, of course, you didn't do for over two days—because you were just waiting for me to slip up so you could finally ban me)... and after that, I asked her about liquid limits... only for you to immediately hand her points while, of course, doing absolutely nothing for the others who insulted me—not a single warning or sanction, nor a deletion of their posts....

Now, I don't like dragging other users/people into this... but what you said simply warrants a correction...
Your esteemed colleague Joe Biden, has roughly 4,000+ posts, and I guarantee you—if you actually follow this subreddit enough to be a moderator—that more than half of those entries on this travel sub are pure trolling.. and she isn't immune to being insulted or mocked by the other people in the thread...

I would also ask you to tell me, which users are supposedly "targeting" me?..(aside from that one group that simply cannot tolerate any differing opinion... like those users Nukac, the aforementioned Joe Biden, Taylor Swift, and whoever else is in that clique)... and please, give me a ratio of the people I've actually helped versus those few characters who are just, well—without being offensive, I don't know how else to say it—narrow-minded... and they fail to understand that there are other people with different perspectives and a different way of traveling and styles compared to theirs.

As for your claim that I "provoke discussions"... I think you are dead wrong...
The esteemed colleague was being corrected by other users for literally every second or third post she made because she kept spreading stupid and inaccurate information..(which anyone can verify by looking at the post history...)

And as for the fact that I might have used a certain word or insult toward a user in the heat of the moment... like calling someone an idiot... something like that (which I admit wasn't nice)... I don't think someone would be sanctioned for that even in countries like Saudi Arabia.... but if this is such a massive blow to the egos of the people you protect, then I completely understand, but it's still dictatorship that contradicts the very name of this place, at least that's how I see it...😉

Regarding my account, Thomas Hernandez11, which I created solely so you could see your own actions and consequences... since you banned me, I would say quite peacefully at the urging of that particular user... and I stand by everything I wrote... except for when I mentioned your parents (that was in the heat of the moment, and for that, I regret it and apologize)... but everything else I said, more or less (as far as I can recall). It stands as the truth

In my opinion—an opinion backed up by several other "seasoned Redditors" (who, of course, won't resort to such drastic measures as I am doing right now) regarding this specific sub-community dedicated to travel... that you handle your jobwith extreme lack of seriousness, bias, and sheer incompetence..and I am merely one example of that pattern...

Obviously,
I didn't come here to play saint; that isn't my intention, nor is it how I want to be perceived...
but it feels a bit suspiciousthat a single user (myself included) is constantly being targeted, harassed, and having posts wiped on a travel subreddit like this one, and almost always by the exact same moderator..because I’m starting to develop a genuine phobia... that no matter what I write, it will either be deleted or I'll end up getting banned... on the flip side,I also post and participate on what is arguably one of the best global forums of this type, and I have never had even the slightest incident there..where people also hold diverse opinions, different travel styles, and varied ways of communicating... but that doesn't happen over there...

Is thistruly a coincidence, or is it INTENTIONAL? Honestly, I need to know

especially the reason behind it---😕 🤷

Why? Is it intolerance, a lack of tolerance, a total lack of professionalism in performing moderator duties, or some kind of jealousy or spite? I would love to know...🤷

Because you've hit me with so many warnings and bans that, I believe, you wouldn't even stand a chance on the Politics subreddit... where the "mass slaughter of users" is common knowledge...
Complaint about moderator Delta Air Lines in the Tourism section! in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Listen, I have to say this...

I’d like to lay out my perspective here, present some actual facts, and propose a few specific courses of action.

So, basically,

Let’s take this step by step...

Honestly, looking at the data, almost the entire majority of my enrollments are just centered around PDF files. Tourism. It’s one of those topics that people love to debate on Reddit, but nobody ever seems to get the nuance right. You have people acting like it's some magical economic engine that solves everything, while others act like it's nothing but a nuisance. Look, I’ve been around enough to know that when you start talking about mass tourism, you aren't just talking about people visiting landmarks or snapping photos of the Statue of Liberty. You're talking about the complete restructuring of an entire local economy. I remember back in my early twenties, traveling through different parts of the country, seeing how certain towns would practically transform overnight once they became "hot spots." One day it's a quiet little community, and the next, every single local shop is replaced by a souvenir stand or a overpriced boutique catering specifically to people who are just passing through. It’s frustrating to watch. It’s a double-edged sword, plain and simple. On one hand, you have the massive influx of capital—hotels, restaurants, transport—which provides jobs and keeps the lights on in many regions. But on the other hand, you see the cost of living skyrocket. Real Americans who actually live in these cities find themselves priced out of their own neighborhoods because every available apartment has been converted into a short-term rental for tourists. It’s a mess. You end up with this hollowed-out feeling in cities where the soul of the place has been traded for quick buck from travelers. It’s messy, it’s complicated, and frankly, most people don't want to deal with the reality of it. I’ve been following this thread for quite a while now—honestly, even longer than I've had my own account here on Reddit.
I don't have a ton of posts under my belt, but I honestly believe that most of what I’ve written here has actually helped the vast majority of travelers. To me, providing that kind of clarity and guidance seems to be the whole point of this platform.
Look, my approach is pretty straightforward: I’m going to be open, honest, and I’m definitely not going to beat around the bush. I don't believe in overthinking every single word before I say it, and I especially have zero interest in playing those pathetic games where people kiss the ass of the moderators just to stay in their good graces. We all know exactly which users on this Reddit thread are doing that—anyone who actually follows the same PDF files we do knows exactly who I'm talking about. They’ve basically bought their way into being the mods' favorites through pure sycophancy.
That’s exactly where things start to fall apart, and frankly, it's where we run into some serious issues.
Because the moderator mentioned above... Harold Taylor6 I’ve been dealing with this one recurring headache for quite some time now... how exactly am I supposed to ban myself? I seem to be running into the same issue over and over again.🤷

Of course this is happening. It’s all being done at the request of a handful of users on Reddit who simply... I can't even submit any corrections or express a dissenting opinion against my own work. They take my posts personally—as if I’m launching some kind of targeted vendetta against them—when that’s clearly not my intention at all. It’s honestly exhausting. It’s becoming an absolute joke—every single thing I post gets flagged to the moderators. Every. Single. Time.By the way, which one of them is actually on their roster? I can't even keep track anymore. I am constantly getting hit with warnings, my posts are being nuked, and I’m getting banned left and right. Just so we’re being fair here—because I refuse to let this conversation be one-sided—it feels like they're just trying to control the narrative. It's all about their perspective, and nothing else.
What’s even more absurd is that I’m literally just correcting basic technicalities and dry, hard facts—things that are easily proven and verified. This isn't about opinions or subjective nonsense; it's about the truth. But apparently, even when I stick to the facts, I’m still nothing but a thorn in everyone's side.
What he actually said was either absolutely ridiculous or even worse—purely tragic. This whole situation is playing out over PDF tourism, which, by all rights, should be one of those relatively straightforward, low-maintenance tasks involving simple files that anyone can edit or moderate without breaking a sweat. But clearly, the person in charge isn't even remotely capable of keeping up with the basics. And if they actually performed their duties as moderators with any level of competence.

It feels incredibly bizarre to me that I’ve been hit with this massive wave of bans on a single PDF, and it’s coming exclusively from Delta Air Lines. I mean, seriously—this entire PDF doesn't even have as many total bans in it as they issue in an entire year. It just doesn't add up.
Look, people, let’s get one thing straight: I am not the kind of "outlaw" that a handful of users here keep trying to paint me as in this digital space. I honestly don't understand people sometimes. Truly. I sit here, looking at the sheer lack of logic being thrown around lately, and I just have to wonder if anyone is actually paying attention anymore. It’s like we’ve collectively decided to stop using our brains. Every time I log onto Reddit to see what everyone is talking about, it’s the same cycle of nonsense. You see someone make a point—a real, grounded, sensible point—and within seconds, the comments are flooded with nothing but mindless noise. It’s infuriating. I find myself sitting there, staring at my screen, just fuming because common sense has become such a rare commodity. It feels like we're living in an era where being loud is more important than being right, and that is a recipe for disaster. Honestly, it's exhausting...
I honestly want to get to the bottom of what is actually going on with this particular moderator. From where I'm sitting, it looks like he’s straight-up violating the fundamental principles and core rules of this entire platform.
From what I can gather about this place, it’s supposed to be a platform where anyone can voice their opinion... though apparently, that rule doesn't apply to me.🤷

Honestly, I don't even know... and to be perfectly blunt, I couldn't care less how they actually go about picking moderators for certain subreddits. But I do know one thing for certain: those moderator(s) are quite simply— They’re doing a subpar job at best, but what really kills me is how they inject such an overwhelming amount of subjectivity and superficiality into everything they produce. It's just lazy. To put it simply, considering how things are looking right now, we really ought to just go ahead and select... We seriously need to talk about the quality of the moderators on this site. It’s getting ridiculous. I feel like we need much higher standards for who gets to hold power here—we need actual, high-quality moderators who know what they're doing. What kind of logic is that? They’re going to have some sort of say over a PDF they’re supposed to be moderating themselves? It’s completely circular. How can you expect any level of objectivity when the people in charge are essentially grading their own homework? It makes absolutely no sense. I’m being completely level-headed here—no overthinking, no giving anyone any extra credit, just straight facts. It's about justice for everyone.

I honestly feel like all this nonsense is starting to tank the traffic on Reddit. If you look back over the last few years, it feels like nothing but strange, unsettling things have been happening lately.
It feels like some "new crowd" has descended upon Reddit lately... people who think they can just scream at the top of their lungs and flood the feed with endless posts just to drown out the regulars. And honestly? It’s working. It’s effectively sidelining a lot of seasoned users—people I actually know personally—who simply refuse to stoop to that level of mindless noise. They just stop being active altogether because the atmosphere becomes so toxic. The irony is that many of these quiet veterans actually possess far more depth and real-world experience than those loudmouths acting like walking Wikipedia entries, but they won't engage. They have no interest in getting dragged into the mess or finding themselves in the same frustrating situations I deal with all the time.
Look, I know I’m just tilting at windmills here. I’m under no illusions that anyone is going to step up with a constructive response or actually address the blatant bias and outright injustice coming from the moderators. But, for the sake of the truth, I had to get this down on paper.

It’s actually pretty interesting that I’m even posting here, on what I would honestly call one of the absolute best subreddits for travel stories. Lonely Planet on the Thorn Tree forums... what a joke. To be honest, I haven't run into any trouble or had any bad experiences with them so far. If anything, it’s been the exact opposite—nothing but praise and positive feedback from my side.
It’s honestly infuriating. On this Reddit thread—specifically under the travel discussions—everything I post gets scrutinized by moderators who act like they're looking for a microscopic flaw just to shut me down. It feels like they're constantly nitpicking my words, hunting for any tiny reason to flag me. To make matters worse, I’ve got a handful of users on here who do nothing but provoke me and straight-up insult me. And what happens in the end? They hand out points to everyone else, but when it comes to me, I get absolutely nothing. Not a single scrap.
Honestly, I’ve completely lost the will to write anything here after being treated like this by the moderator in question... and then there's this other moderator, Elon Musk. To be blunt, I don't see the point of his existence on this site... other than the fact that he's constantlytrolling, hijacking threads, and just flooding Reddit with absolute tabloid garbage.

Here is the latest example....

http://www.reddit.com/showthread.php?p=37098852#post37098852

...which is exactly how I earned 35 points... all for so-called "trolling."

I am demanding that someone actually looks into the sheer volume and blatant nature of the insults thrown at users.Joe Biden directed them at me, backed up by one or two other people... and of course, those sameindividuals haven't faced any sanctions whatsoever.

I apologize for the length and the somewhat heated tone of this post, but quite frankly, this situation demanded it.

And once more, to get to the heart of my point...the moderator Harold Taylor6 should be replaced with someone actually qualified. The way things are currently running, he's just biased, totally lacks objectivity, and refuses to follow the actual flow of conversation... which leads him to moderate and judge everything completely incorrectly.👎
