Thought processes and associativity

I’ve been having this weird issue lately where I just can't seem to spot the obvious—even when it's staring me right in the face. For instance, I'll be watching some YouTube video about massive construction fails, right? It'll show a slideshow of maybe ten different photos, and I won't actually wrap my head around what went wrong until I'm looking at the third or fourth one.
