What keeps you motivated to get out of bed in the morning? in Psychology & Therapy ·
rapidcanyon27 said:I’m just feeling completely unmotivated lately, honestly... I feel like I’m just coasting along until I finally hit my limit and decide to throw in the towel.

I'm hoping things improve 👍

Though I find myself constantly trying to convince myself of that.

Nothing makes sense anymore.
I’m not actually living; I’m just barely scraping by.
Sometimes I catch myself wondering, "What was even the point of me being born?"

It seems you're young, much like myself... there isn't much else to say. Perhaps if I had some sort of purpose, I wouldn't be merely surviving—though, one would assume part of life should actually be lived properly.

I haven't seen a victory in ages, nor am I even looking for one.

I suppose my kids would be my only real motivation—to struggle for something with an actual future—but this? This is nothing.

🙂
If you actually like your job, you spend your time messing with the people you work with. You build your own little defense system against them.

Those little things give me enough reason to get out of bed, though it feels insufficient.

I don't operate that way—I can't just tune people out. 🙄

Every single morning, I’d wake up and just start counting down the days until Friday (honestly, by Thursday, things felt a little more manageable). I guess having a loud alarm, some decent music, and the thought of a hot cup of coffee helps a bit too. 🙂

I was speaking more broadly—referring to the general sentiment expressed by others here.

I hope you make it happen. 👍

Something good is always waiting around the corner. It doesn't have to be some grand gesture; you can make life better just by finding peace within yourself, your family, or whatever your relationship status happens to be...
If your job sucks, quit. Change it. It’s really not that deep 😁
And if your partner isn't cutting it, don't just sit there and take it. Cut ties, get a divorce, and move on. Why waste your prime years on someone when you know nothing is ever going to change? For what? Who are we trying to please if we aren't even happy ourselves? Every day brings new wins, new losses, and new opportunities...
Once you clear your head, everything else is easy...

There’s a lot going on mentally, I agree—but there is also a contradiction in the advice above. On one hand, you suggest walking away from bad situations because time is precious, yet on the other, you argue that every milestone requires an investment of effort (and years)—from career training to long-term relationships or marriage.

As usual, it seems difficult to determine what one actually wants while hoping for enough luck to make the pieces fit.

When you find yourself stuck—those long stretches where motivation for any kind of progress just vanishes (even when you're young)—what actually gets you out of bed to chase those next wins?

If I had posted this ten days ago, my answer would have been nothing. Currently, the early sunrise makes getting up slightly less painful—though that’s a minor consolation at best.
