They’ll hook you up with some UF reps and let you grill them about anything, provided you cough up the annual membership fee $10. We just went with a lawyer who's basically a family friend.
I don't quite get the full picture myself, but from what I gather, you might be able to sue to have the entire contract declared void. AARP mentioned that you can still challenge the interest rates, though you'll need to hash out the specifics with your lawyer. I haven't even reached the stage of filing a lawsuit with my attorney yet, so I don't have all the answers, but I should know more in a few days. But look, let’s say you only sue over the currency aspect—your win is basically a lock, including all those late fees. Even the legal and court costs? The bank will end up footing that bill at the end of the dispute. Plus, you pay your lawyer as you go; it's not like you have to cough up one massive lump sum right out of the gate. Either way, if your loan hasn't been converted, you seriously need to find a lawyer and sue.
Look, by the time the court actually hands down a ruling, you’ll probably owe double that initial 20 $0.00 once those variable interest rates kick in—not even counting the legal fees and court costs the bank will be footing. We're pulling the trigger on our own case, too. We hired an attorney who already went after the bank for all the paperwork. She’s got it now, and she’s handed everything over to an expert to nail down the exact figure for the lawsuit.
That’s exactly what I was wondering! Thanks, we'll go ahead and track down a lawyer then.
Hey everyone. My mom took out an auto loan back in mid-2007—$17,000 via a Swiss Franc Loan over a 7-year term. It’s not a massive fortune, but because of how much the Swiss Franc spiked, she ended up paying way more than she ever should have. I’m trying to figure out if it's even worth the headache to file a lawsuit. Is the potential payout actually going to cover the legal fees and attorney costs? If it makes sense to go after them, does anyone know a solid lawyer in the Chicago area who specializes in this kind of thing? From what I can tell, this is a slam dunk since the loan wasn't converted and she was stuck paying it right when the Swiss Franc started its climb.
The whole point of this forum is to actually talk about stuff. Lately, we really needed to crack down on the trolls who keep trying to claim Vivax belongs in the same league as the heavy hitters, but punishing those losers shouldn't mean locking the entire thread.
There wasn't even a massive blowout this time, so there’s zero excuse to shut the topic down. That’s what the "delete post" tool is for. This moderator hasn't once jumped in to contribute anything useful or constructive; she only shows up when it's time to kill a thread and act like she knows everything. How does someone become a sub-forum mod if they aren't even active in the discussions or actually know what they're talking about?
Why kill a thread when new people are showing up every day with legitimate questions? What's the point of a forum then? Just wipe the troll posts and move on.
