I'm struggling so much with low self-esteem that it's ruining my life
in Psychology & Therapy ·
I really think you should try opening up about what’s bothering you to some actual people in your life rather than just venting to imaginary strangers on an online forum, because honestly, everything you read here is going to feel just like some random self-help blog post you stumbled upon, don't you think?
You probably shouldn't rush straight to a psychiatrist right away, because if you lay out all those fears, they might jump straight to prescribing therapy, and then you're stuck in that whole cycle of getting used to treatment and eventually trying to wean yourself off it, even though you might not actually need medication at all.
It would be much better to see a psychologist first, since they can determine if a psychiatrist is truly necessary, and why not have a heart-to-heart with your husband too, where you tell him you're worried about infidelity so he can reassure you with all the reasons why he'd never dream of cheating?
Why not get all dressed up—do your hair, put on some makeup, and head downtown for a little solo shopping trip or grab a coffee at a cafe, because you'll quickly realize that men will still notice you and look your way in a way that makes it seem like they're flirting, which is just how it works, isn't it? Some women are just going to stare regardless of who is standing there, and that really says more about their character than it does about your husband.
As for your tendency to jump from one hobby to another, I totally get that because I'm exactly the same way with my interests and even my jobs, and I truly believe we all just need to stop overthinking things so much, because when we spend too much time analyzing every little detail, our minds start racing in a dozen different directions and lead us toward ideas that aren't always the best for us.
