Penguin's Underneath The Universe,
it's an absolute game-changer.
Quarantine Life in Coronavirus ·
I ended up stuck in quarantine back in November because some guy caught it from a coworker who had the nerve to show up to the office with a fever for three straight days without saying a word to anyone until he was finally too sick to even function and had to beg for remote work. That guy ended up infecting half his department, including my close friend, and while my buddy actually did the right thing by calling me immediately once symptoms hit, the idiot who started this whole mess just treated the entire situation like some kind of joke.
Luckily, I didn't end up getting sick or anything, but I spent two miserable weeks rotting in my room just to make sure I didn't pass anything on to my family. My paycheck took about a 15% hit because of the sick leave, which really sucks, though the guy who infected everyone is doing fine and back at work, even if his sense of taste hasn't quite returned yet.
Those two weeks in isolation were nothing but a massive waste of life because you can't go anywhere, your income takes a dive, you miss important commitments, and you end up feeling like a burden on everyone else in the house.
The absolute worst part is that I'll never find out the name of that complete moron whose sheer carelessness put other people at risk and robbed me of my life for a couple of weeks. I'd love to know what he'd have to say to my face if I actually went after him to pay me back for the money I lost.

You are nothing but a childish little blackmailer who can't even handle a conversation without resorting to those pathetic passive-aggressive tactics.
I am honestly asking the moderators to leave every single one of your posts up because your garbage is exactly how people will judge you, and it lets the rest of us see exactly what kind of people are out here advocating for gun rights.

They didn't even have to cheat to rig those initial tests.
I honestly think you all should feel nothing but pure shame and humiliation right now, yet here you are, acting all wounded and complaining about reporting people to the authorities.
There is a massive difference between feeling insulted and feeling humiliated. Being insulted is just a cognitive thing where you disagree with someone attacking your beliefs or your taste—it’s an intellectual disagreement about what’s right or wrong, and it stays in your head. But humiliation? That’s existential; it’s a direct hit on your entire being, designed to strip away your dignity and make you question your own worth until you're left feeling nothing but disgrace.

And let’s be real, whining like this is just a hallmark of insecure, immature people, because after a quick Google search, I found that basically every resource online about "complaining" is aimed at little kids before they even hit their teens.

It's exactly the same in the real world; it is incredibly hard to explain how serious certain life processes actually are to children, especially when those kids don't care about anything serious and are too damn rude and ill-mannered to listen.

The first and last sentences of this whole mess are basically the refutation of these childish little complaints, and the rest of it is just context for the topic at hand.

Carl Wilson said:Look, the "conservative wing" of the entire Congress is basically non-existent if the Cabinet keeps holding onto a 76+ vote supermajority for everything (especially stuff that isn't even related to these crazy COVID regulations)

And don't be surprised when they start bringing in more Democrats to help out if things get tight because this party isn't about to let its people lose an inch of ground.

Patrick Mitchell76 said:I know plenty of people who packed on the pounds right after they quit smoking... and the absolute worst part is when they end up relapsing and suddenly you’re dealing with both the extra weight and the cigarettes again..

The reality is that once people stop smoking, they just eat more because they're constantly looking for something to do with their hands, their appetite spikes, and suddenly everything tastes way better... plus, they say a non-smoker's body actually processes nutrients much more efficiently from the same amount of food compared to a smoker...

Honestly, the best move when you ditch the smokes is to crank up the intensity at the gym so you're burning those calories off, keeping your mind off the habit, and getting your lungs back in shape... maybe hit a trail in a local park instead of heading to the bar, haha.

When I finally kicked the habit, I managed to keep my weight steady without any issues, but as soon as I stopped driving as much due to the winter weather and the days getting shorter, I immediately put on 20 pounds during January and February this year, and it has been a total nightmare because I just can't seem to get back to my old self.
It's a fact that people eat more when they quit, because you're basically just swapping one addiction for another and that's where the whole mess starts.

Jeffrey Hall5 said:It’s always some non-smoker trying to lecture a smoker, acting like they know everything by doing all that math—you smoke this much a day, a pack costs this much, so over a year or ten years, you could have easily bought yourself a Mercedes. So then the smoker just looks at them and asks, "Do you smoke?" They say no, and the smoker hits them with, "Well, where's your Mercedes then?"

Honestly, all these petty complaints and people trying to act superior is what really gets me, because why even bother with that kind of hostility? If someone wants to do something, let them live their life.
But here is the cold, hard truth, and I’m speaking from direct experience: the second I quit smoking, it was immediately obvious in my lung capacity and how I handled hills.
I used to go driving with a buddy quite often, and we had the exact same smoking history, but just two years ago, I was gasping for air every single time we hit an incline. I felt lighter, so that's basically why. Fast forward a year later, I haven't touched a cigarette in months, and I'm leaving him in the dust at the very first mile while he's practically wheezing just to keep up with me.
It’s the same story when I called over two buddies to help me lug a ton of cement up to the second floor of a house; both of them are smokers. The bags were only about fifty pounds each, and we figured we'd knock it out quickly so we could get back to grabbing beers and hanging out, but they went up those stairs three times and completely burned out.
When I'm driving on flat ground, there isn't much of a noticeable difference, but the moment I start heading up a hill, you see exactly how much things have changed.

The absolute worst people are the former smokers... they act just like those Jehovite fanatics. I haven't met a single person who actually quit smoking and managed to save that extra cash. Like Asheron always says, if you want to be a martyr, go right ahead...

Oh, how wonderful. This whole thread is supposed to be about quitting smoking, right? Well, newsflash: I've saved that money more than a few times over.
To me, the biggest losers are the ones who are just deathly jealous of everyone who actually had the guts to quit.

Matthew Booth74 said:Well, a smoker could just as easily argue:

How much does a decent bike even run you? $2640!
I’ll just smoke a pack a day and chill at home without breaking a sweat.

Whatever floats your boat, I guess.

But you know what's gonna happen—some smoker hits 50 and realizes he should've spent that cash on a ride instead, while a real biker won't have a single thing to say about it!

I'm 39 years old now, and looking back, I spent fifteen years straight smoking from age 15 to 30, then picked it right back up between 35 and 37, so those damn cigarettes absolutely wrecked my body. I’m not posting this on Strava because, honestly, privacy means everything to me and I'm not looking for anyone breathing down my neck.

I spent more than half my life chain-smoking, and let me tell you, it absolutely trashed my lungs. Since I quit, I feel better than I ever have in my entire life. I’m crushing it on the road now. There is just a massive, undeniable difference.
