I don't trust anyone anymore... in Psychology ·
Bryan Hernandez9 said:I’m fine with people, I guess. Though if I'm being honest, most people are just inherently selfish... egotistical.

The thing I struggle with—or maybe it isn't even a struggle—is that I can talk to anyone about anything, but I never bother going deep.

Growing up in my house, we never touched on "serious" stuff. No talking about feelings or needs or whatever. Everything was strictly functional.
We were a good family. We loved each other and supported one another, but there was zero emotional display. No deep talks, nothing like that.

I don't recall ever telling my parents or my sister that I love them, and they never said it to me. Not since I was a little kid, maybe before kindergarten.

It wasn't a thing in our house, but in America, you'd think it's just assumed. Even when we fought, it was like that.

And it's not just my family. I'm like this with everyone. I'm talking about close friends, people I've known since childhood or my inner circle now. Certain topics are just off-limits. That's just how it is. Even if I wanted to change it, I couldn't. Honestly, most of the time, I don't even want to.

I suppose it would be more useful if I could actually open up instead of bottling everything inside, but if I haven't figured it out by now, I doubt I ever will.

Is it a trust issue? Like, I don't trust anyone, or is it just a learned behavior where certain subjects are simply ignored?

I live my life just fine this way. It works. But sometimes I wonder if things eventually have to come out. And if they don't, where do they go? My health?

I find myself in the exact same boat. Our conversations revolve entirely around work—who worked harder, who accomplished what. Every single meal ends in some trivial, senseless argument, only for us to end up back together again shortly after.

I'd love to hear a professional opinion on this!

It’s a question for me as well. I have spent much of my life consciously pushing away unpleasant things, and I suspect those memories have now migrated into the unconscious. 😲

Stress, genetics, the whole bit. I struggle with memory issues myself, though lately, I’ve found myself caring much less about it. At the end of the day, everyone has their own niche where they excel.
I tend to hit a wall during high-pressure situations as well. I’ve noticed that if I rely purely on instinctual reactions—essentially operating on autopilot without overthinking things 🙂—my performance at work is actually spot on. Between breathwork, watching what I eat, and maintaining a sense of self-awareness regarding my own limits... it’s quite an exhausting list of requirements to juggle, but it’s certainly worth the effort. For me, it makes all the difference.

I went ahead and got several tests done:
urine culture - lab results
aerobic urine culture - sterile
aerobic ejaculate culture - sterile
chlamydia (EIA(atg)) - negative
neither ureaplasma urealyticum nor mycoplasma hominis were isolated
Also, they checked my prostate, which came back completely normal too.

The labs all look fine, yet here I am, still dealing with this. I’m experiencing stinging, a sort of tickling sensation, and occasionally some mild pain or discomfort. It’s particularly bothersome during sex, and ejaculation is often accompanied by a stinging feeling. The stinging is mostly concentrated at the tip of the urethra (right near the end of the penis), whereas the middle part and the base tend to feel more like an ache or discomfort when touched—sometimes it even radiates all the way behind the scrotum (for instance, it makes riding a bike quite uncomfortable). These symptoms have a tendency to vanish entirely for short periods, but they've been lingering on and off for about a year now.

About three years ago, I actually had chlamydia, which I treated with Azithromycin. I had a follow-up swab after the treatment was finished, and that came back negative.

I use condoms consistently, though I don't use them during oral sex (which I do), and I have a long-term partner.
My urologist basically gave me a lecture on STIs and then sent me home, noting that I should return for a follow-up only if necessary.

I was wondering if anyone might have an idea what this could be? I suspect there might be some kind of bacteria that wasn't covered by the standard panels I ran. Is it possible that just using regular soap for washing could cause these issues and prevent them from clearing up?

Well, she went in for an exam, and they ended up isolating Ureaplasma urealyticum in her.
Is it possible for me to pick up that ureaplasma through oral sex via the throat/mouth and then pass it onto my genital organs?
What's the next step? My symptoms are still persisting.
Cold feet? in Health ·
Perhaps the issue lies with the bed itself—poor insulation, maybe a draft coming through the window. You could try sliding an extra blanket underneath, swapping out the mattress, or even just tossing a pillow at your feet... Aside from those minor adjustments, everything else feels perfectly normal, like water running warm and steady. 👎

My urologist basically gave me a lecture on STIs and then sent me home👎. He noted "follow up as needed"🤷.
