Kimberly Morris said:Are you still on it? How are you holding up now?!

Yes, I am still using it to manage tension headaches 😵 (it’s almost like a new way to release pressure... my mental stress eventually manifested physically—I was quite lucky though, because my neurologist is also a neuropsychiatrist, a real expert who truly knows his stuff 😁 ).
I feel good—much better than I did before... knock on wood 😁🎉

Kimberly Morris said:Guys, I need help!!

So, I started taking half of a 50 mg Zoloft pill about four days ago. Yesterday was rough, but today? Today is straight-up killing me!!! I’ve seriously never felt this bad in my entire life... I feel like I'm actually going to crawl out of my own skin. I even popped an unspecified 0.25, but it did absolutely nothing for me!!!
Are these kinds of brutal side effects actually normal?! I am low-key freaking out here....

The Zoloft worked wonders for me initially. Though, after maybe just a single pill, I did start feeling those side effects—roughly in the same ballpark as what you're describing. You have to keep in mind that it's just part of the process, I suppose... my body has adjusted by now, though I still get these little waves of discomfort periodically after a certain dose, but once they pass, I feel totally renewed. If it helps at all, it will pass 🙄
I’ve also found that it works much better if I take it at night—maybe even right before bed. I don't have those dark, existential thoughts about life 😁, I sleep more soundly, and I feel fine the entire next day. So, perhaps that might be worth a try?

But if you're truly feeling this bad, why not check in with your doctor?

fadedbear92 said:What's your diagnosis, and what kind of meds or therapy are you doing?

I've been dealing with anxiety and depression—my current regimen includes Prozac, Brintellix, and Xanax (though I'm looking at alternatives since I'm worried about dependency)—plus Trazodone for sleep, though I've heard it's hard to find in some pharmacies lately. In really intense moments, I've occasionally been prescribed stronger stuff for a short week or so—maybe some mood stabilizers... but I'd honestly prefer to avoid those if possible.😉 (Generally speaking, they help get me back to baseline, if you can call it that.)
Do you think there's a connection here? 🙄

Perhaps... I don't know—I was quite fragile during my childhood, to be honest.
Someone pointed out to me that my situation actually has psychological roots—basically, I don't allow myself the luxury of getting sick because I'm constantly buried under work deadlines—it’s that classic perfectionism trap.
I feel like my mental health struggles—it’s a real uphill battle—are honestly keeping me from making any real progress in life. 🤔
Who might have more insight... but thanks anyway. 😉

I’m not entirely sure if this is the right place for this kind of thing—it just felt like the closest fit—so here goes...

From a medical perspective, how normal is it to go over a year without catching even a common cold, let alone the flu? It’s been freezing lately, and we’ve had rain hitting the windows seemingly non-stop...
The only time my nose actually runs is when I'm crying 🙄
(That's aside from my chronic headaches—though everyone tells me it's just stress 🤔 since all my lab results come back perfectly fine)
The people in my household get sick a few times a year, which seems totally standard given immune drops and stuff like that...
But what about me? It just feels a little bit strange 🙂

If anyone else has run into something similar, or if you've experienced this yourself, I'd really appreciate it if you could share

I see there’s been some discussion regarding insomnia here:
Is Sanval more effective than Trazodone? Or perhaps there is something even stronger out there—any insights from your own experiences?
I’ve been taking Trazodone—quite a high dose, actually—but it feels fairly ineffective; I’ve tried adding Buspar to the mix, but the results are still underwhelming (I used to supplement with xanax, too, but that didn't help much either)

some advice, please 🙄 though it seems most people struggle with this issue 😢
And how does one realistically function during the day when sleep doesn't finally come until dawn? 🙂

Has anyone else dealt with a side effect where you lose your sense of taste? I don't mean it’s totally gone, but rather—it's like the joy is missing from my favorite foods. I just don't get that same kick from chocolate anymore, and I absolutely love chocolate...
It feels like I could skip meals entirely—honestly, I find myself eating just because I have to...

restlesstiger49 said:I tried taking Ambien and Lunesta, but they just didn't work for me. I've been trying to snag an appointment for a week now just to figure out my next move. It's incredibly frustrating; just when I finally find an antidepressant that actually works, everything hits a wall. There's really no point in being on sleep aids for the entire duration of my treatment; I don't want to fry my brain. 😵 🤷

Life is just exhausting right now.

Honey, I feel the exact same way 🙂 though maybe my patience is running a bit thin...
How do I blow off some steam? in Psychology ·
briskranger5 said:Greetings, everyone...

Even though I’m only in my early twenties and should be bursting with energy, I honestly feel like I’ve already hit retirement age...

There’s this constant simmering tension inside me, a restless urge to just lash out because I’m dying of boredom—even though I actually have plenty to keep me busy with studies and everything else. But still...

Since I'm no poet, the best way I can describe it is that I feel trapped in some kind of invisible shackles, just wanting to tear everything down around me...

So many days I just feel completely listless... and too calm. I love living in a small town, but it’s almost unnervingly quiet...

Could this be due to the people around me carrying all that negative energy? Or maybe it's because I'm out in the sticks and don't have much of a social circle (not that I've ever been much of a social butterfly anyway)....

Any advice?

To start off, you should thank God for that peace and quiet... there are folks out there who would give anything for the mountains, a little stone cottage, and nothing but clear skies and fresh air.
Just soak it all in. As long as it stays peaceful, you're living in paradise...

Mark Nelson said:I guess I should brag a little—over the last few months, I’ve actually managed to scale back my dose of Lorsilan. Now I’m just taking it occasionally, maybe two or three times a week, whereas before? I used to take way too many in a single day. Those panic attacks and that constant tension don't hit me nearly as often anymore. I know what I’m saying probably doesn't matter to anyone else, but I just wanted to remind people that sometimes, taking a little bit of a risk pays off. 🙂

I'm definitely celebrating this win with you. That is a massive milestone! 🎉

Nicole Barrett76 said:I am actually dealing with a rare endocrine disorder that no one else in my family has ever had. Neither I nor any of my relatives suffer from SCH. My condition is worsening, but I cannot go into specific details right now because I am using someone else's laptop and don't have access to my own computer.

It seems I may have misinterpreted things slightly 🙄
Anyway, stay strong and keep fighting... at the end of the day, we really don't have much of a choice in the matter 😘
Why do we feel the need to hide our emotions? in Psychology ·
This whole topic really hits home...
I don't even dare open up to my own sister—she’s always found a way to twist my words against me, one way or another.
Yet, I'll spill my entire soul to a complete stranger on the street. 🙄

I suppose we expect something positive from the people we show our rawest selves to—so when they let us down, it isn't just a disappointment; it feels like a bullet to the head.
And then you just shut down completely.
With strangers, it's different—you know you'll likely never see them again, so there's no risk of them actually hurting you.

But playing a part? That's dangerous. It drains you, and once you're empty, anything can happen.
Dealing with high-level anxiety, I used to try and force my intense emotions from a 1 down to a 0. Basically, I'd take all that vulnerability—that "lamb to the slaughter" feeling—and try to flip it into pure rage or aggression just to hold my own against supervisors. Thank God I didn't use any language that would get me fired, allowing me to fight for what was right (as strange as that sounds). 😉 But ten minutes later, I’d be sitting alone in a bathroom stall crying my eyes out.
It broke me... honestly, I think it still breaks me every single time I have to fake it...
Maybe I should just vent it all into 🙂, but then this guilt creeps in, and that hits me pretty hard 🙂
At this point, I'd settle for just being indifferent. 🥱

Has anyone here had any experience with Nozinan? I'm curious if anyone has used it—specifically for what condition—and what kind of side effects you might expect. 😕

fadedbear92 said:Just hang in there for a bit longer! Usually, these things start kicking in around day 14, and you won't see the full results until a month has passed. If you don't notice a real difference by then, you should definitely check back in with the doctor who prescribed it.😉

Patience—it’s all about that steady, quiet endurance.🥱

fadedbear92 said:How long have you been on that dosage?

It’s been about 20 days—just under a month, really—though it's supposed to kick in after at least a week.

fadedbear92 said:Which one are you on, and what's your dosage? Maybe it's time to bump up the dose or try switching meds entirely.

I take half of a 20 mg tablet daily—though my doctor was quite firm about me not going any higher than that.🤔

Fluoxetine is supposed to act as a catalyst for positivity—you know, boosting optimism and providing that extra bit of drive—but personally, I’m just not feeling that effect 🙄
Is anyone else here currently on it, and what has your experience been like? 😕

Laura Castillo6 said:I’m really sorry you’re going through this. I can pretty much relate to how you're feeling. Personally, I decided to step away from therapy entirely, and after taking a four-month break, I'm finally starting to make some actual plans for my life again. To be honest, I haven't found much help from the psychiatric or psychological route. I've come to believe there isn't a magic pill for this kind of mental state, so I've just started leaving things up to fate—whatever happens, happens. I've stopped letting things get under my skin.

Wishing you the best 🙂
but right now, professionals are my only lifeline—even if they disappoint me sometimes—since they're the only ones who actually listen and "care."
As for medication, I honestly find them helpful, though I'm not sure 🙄
if everything was sent "to the wrong place"... I feel like Sisyphus—not that I want to vent any further 😠

electrichound3 said:I honestly respect that you can handle exams while on them. 👍 Personally, my anxiety hits such a peak before tests that my body just loses it. Headaches, nausea... it's horrific. I know nothing life-threatening is actually happening, but I can't fight it. It's stronger than me. I made a mistake once; instead of taking some Normabel to level me out before an exam, I took nothing, and my nerves just went through the roof. I'm not making that mistake again. So, does your memory actually stay sharp while you're on Xanax?

Well, essentially, whatever you learn, the fear or the nerves—whatever it is—forces you to forget it or makes you feel like you're blanking. So, with Xanax, I just relax; I get this sort of high—kind of a "nothing matters, I'm untouchable" vibe—and then it's done. 😉
It's like just completely surrendering to the moment. 🙄
But my issue is different—I have to memorize so much stuff that doesn't even seem logical (formulas, definitions, theorems, proofs, etc.), which moves a bit slow for me. Then there's all the theory I have to grasp just to solve problems. You need long periods of focus for all that, but I... I just drift off into space, lose myself in thought, everything hits me too hard... I really overthink things way too much. 😵☕

Laura Castillo6 said:There are some things in life you just can't control, kind of like how you can't stop the rotation of the Earth or anything. It’s just the way the world turns. I was actually stuck in the hospital for about ten days recently, and they ended up discharging me without even realizing that I wasn't really "there" yet. I didn't know where I stood with myself. It felt like losing consciousness—that heavy, terrifying sensation of being right on the edge of death. Honestly, if I didn't have my parents looking out for me, who knows where I would've ended up.
I was wondering, was there actually a legitimate reason behind it? Like, was it some kind of specific incident or just someone deciding to go into rehab on their own terms?
Sending big hugs, just keep moving forward! 😘

That’s exactly where the issue lies. It wasn't some voluntary decision to seek help. In situations like this, people around you just panic—they get scared and end up calling the police or an ambulance, and before you know it, you're being forcibly taken to a hospital for treatment. 🤔

I think I might understand that feeling of losing consciousness; I've been in that state for the last 15 days. I barely remember anything. I'm just going through the motions—walking, forgetting to eat—I'm not even aware of what's happening. Panic sets in because I'm truly losing control over myself. And the worst part is, I'm supposedly still expected to keep up with my responsibilities, even though I can't anymore... seriously, I just can't. It feels awful, watching myself sink deeper every single day. 😢
I was the best at everything my whole life, and now I'm becoming a lost cause. If only I could take a little break from life... I'm already starting to cry. 🤦
I don't really have much support from my family—it feels like I’m mostly fighting this battle on my own. I'm out here navigating psychiatrists, deciding on different therapies, vetting psychologists, and bouncing between hospitals to get my lab work done... there were days when I'd be at my university classes in the morning, then head straight to the clinic for checkups and results, and then dash right back to campus. It’s all because something just isn't right; I know I'm not okay, and I'm desperate to figure out what's actually going on.
I don't even know where this ends—honestly, there are times I just wish I could die, because I've had enough of this pain in every sense of the word. 🙂

For Nicole Barrett76: What about the genetic component? Has anyone in your family dealt with schizophrenia or anything along those lines—I’ve heard it often manifests in the eldest daughter, though who knows...
Please, my grandmother struggled with it too—but what exactly are you experiencing? Are we talking hallucinations, bouts of sadness, bitterness, an obsession with perfectionism, or just feeling completely lost?
I can certainly empathize—just try to walk me through it, if you don't mind...
Best wishes

redpilot37 said:I'm asking the same thing. They work okay for my social anxiety and they calm me down, but I'm just groggy all day. There's no adrenaline left. I'm just not myself😁 I really miss the old me.😒
Whatever. If people love me, they love me. If they don't, they're wasting their breath.😁
Anyway, switching to something worse just to end up addicted to Normabel or Xanax isn't the answer... and good luck being "smart" about that.🍿
I have a feeling that maybe CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy, if I remember right 🤣) is the only thing that would actually work, and frankly, I'd rather tell everyone to go jump in a lake.🙂

I tried going without medication once, but I just ended up looking like a naive little kid—I definitely overestimated myself.😵
Now I've made a different choice; once you exhaust every possible alternative only to be met with disappointment, you'll accept whatever comes your way.☕ 😁
If only there were more understanding out there... sigh.🍿
