Sean Kelly10 said:Looks like Ally has this deal running right now:

NEWS: Free microloans for new users—zero fees, zero cosigners.

The promo runs from Feb 23, 2023, to March 23, 2023, at 6:00 PM. New customers can grab a microloan up to $400 with a 30-day repayment window. No extra fees and no need for a guarantor. You just pay back exactly what you borrowed, down to the penny. Take $400, pay back $400!

Wondering if anyone here has actually tried this out?

Grab $400 and pay back $400?
No way. I don't buy it.

By the way, did I miss the part where some suicidal person changes their mind after they've already kicked the bucket, or does that just not exist? Maybe I missed it because it happened in the first thirty minutes, but I didn't catch anything about someone actually having second thoughts after the fact.

Alright, this was supposed to be a joke, but we've drifted into some pretty deep waters here...

So, this guy on YouTube has this theory that life is basically just one big dream. And you know how it goes—once you wake up from a dream, you can't ever really go back to that exact same dream again, no matter how much it feels familiar.
Using that logic, once you kick the bucket, there's no going back to this specific life. That was the whole point of my joke. If you change your mind at the last second, could you actually slide back into the life you were living?

At the end of the day, we aren't going to know anything for sure until our very last breath. And after that? Who knows... let's just hope... that the party (aka life) keeps going somehow... in some way... whatever that looks like.
Because honestly, no matter what kind of new existence people speculate about or believe in... the whole point of this current life starts feeling so lost that you could pretty much check out without even feeling curious about what comes next.

And yeah, listening to this guy on YouTube takes a massive amount of mental energy just to stay focused, let alone actually process what he's saying.
Elizabeth Castillo87 said:Wait, are we talking about a failed attempt here?
Because I’m struggling to see how someone just "changes their mind" after they've actually succeeded.

INTERVIEW: Goran Potkonjak - Death is just a new beginning, and this world is an illusion! (July 21, 2019)

☕
What if you, say, decided to end it all—just out of pure curiosity...
And then, maybe two or three days later, you suddenly change your mind and actually want to live again?

A few years back, there was a psychiatry symposium held on the coast titled "For soul and spirit." My own mind told me that was a terrible theme for a group of psychiatrists. They don't have a clue about the soul or the spirit; they know nothing about it.

As far as I am concerned, the soul and spirit simply do not exist.

Nah, the soul and spirit are definitely real. Believe it or not. You want proof?

I don't know if I'm losing my mind or just hitting a breaking point, but lately, I've been losing my cool more than usual. Work is driving me nuts, my coworkers are getting on my nerves... life in general is just... a lot.

Thanks for all the replies and the help; especially to John N. notify. I'll reach out as soon as I can.

Got a few questions here—really looking for a kind soul who can help me out. Honestly, I’m not interested in any trolls or drama. Just looking for real answers.
First off, a bit of a crazy question: can schizophrenia actually have a good side? Look, I know no illness is truly "good," but is there some kind of edge or advantage that people living with it possess—something others just can't see or feel?

Second: can someone explain to a total layman—skip all the medical jargon, please—how schizophrenia actually starts to show up? What does it look like in the beginning? Is it just total mental chaos or a complete loss of focus? Does it mean the person just can't concentrate and ends up feeling constantly lost or scattered?
Is death actually natural? in Psychology ·
Are people who go down the rabbit hole asking about life after death potential suicide risks? Like, do you guys think someone obsessing over what happens when we die is actually just one step away from SUICIDE?

Here’s another one for you—dealing with those toxic (aka straight-up evil) work relationships:
How do you defeat evil and the people behind it? in Psychology ·
driftinghound12 said:I couldn't find an existing thread for this, so I’m starting my own because I’m genuinely preoccupied with it... I view this more as a psychology question than a philosophical one. Throughout my life, I've made a conscious effort to be a good person—honest, fair, someone who pursues goals through creativity and hard work, and stays kind and helpful to everyone. I try to approach everything with a positive mindset. It would all be much easier to enjoy if there weren't people in my orbit who seem hell-bent on causing harm. Generally speaking, these are individuals who thrive on destruction, constantly seeking validation by stepping on others. They just seem drawn to malice.

One such person pretended to be my friend, only to steal my boyfriend after we had been together for years. Another is my sister; when I confided my plans to her, she rushed to execute them herself just to snatch the credit. She loves nitpicking me over trivialities and belittling me to others to make herself look better. Then there was a colleague at work who swiped one of my ideas—in a workplace where we're supposed to be collaborating toward a shared goal—and took all the praise for it.

Why are some people naturally drawn to darkness, finding satisfaction in tearing things down for their own gain? How are you supposed to handle them once they've already won? What can be done as a preventative measure? Clearly, I’m attracting this kind of energy somehow; perhaps I’m trying too hard to be nice or "good," making myself an easy target for exploitation. I also don't understand why society seems to reward these types. They’re arrogant and "resourceful," knowing how to grab what they want without putting in any actual sweat or effort. Nowadays, it feels like screwing someone over has become normalized, while being decent is treated as the anomaly. Lately, I've become so guarded and disillusioned with people that I don't trust anyone, let alone want to go out. It got so bad that I actually attempted suicide because the pressure from these toxic people became suffocating. I just feel like I'm worthless and that none of my efforts matter.🤦

Zero. Honestly? It’s only gonna get worse from here. Just having the desire or the willpower to change isn't enough—it really isn't. Like, if people at work catch even a whiff that you're a pushover—and I mean that hypothetically, nothing personal—you're done. You'll become their favorite target for every little thing.

First off—I’m gonna lean more toward the philosophical side of things here. This isn't just some psychology deep dive, you know?

Look, there’s another side to this—because we have two genders, the way people interpret, define, and actually perceive good versus evil can take on thousands of different shapes. It's just how things work, right?

Thirdly—and I’m not even gonna get into the whole survivalist sub-problem here—because when you factor in that raw instinct to just stay alive (it's basically "me or them," right?), the line between good and evil gets pretty damn blurry.

Fourthly—look, a perfect example would be describing how things play out at some of today's workplaces. Around here, I’m basically equating evil with the concept of— Selfishness..

At work lately, people seem ready for anything—no matter how shady it is these days. We’re talking full-blown hypocrisy, blatant nepotism, and lies on top of lies. It’s wild.
Here’s the deal: someone is going to be sharing an office with you—and yeah, it’ll be fine at first. But they’re gonna try—and I mean *absolutely* try—to make sure you never feel like you actually fit in. Why? Because the boss decided you two have to share a space. Simple as that. The thing is, this person isn't even powerful enough yet—even if they got the job through some shady connection—to actually kick you out of the office. But still, you’re walking on eggshells. You never know where you stand. You try to be friendly, right? You try to build a rapport? Forget it. Anything you say in confidence just ends up being office gossip in the next cubicle over. It’s impossible to grab a coffee or just exist for eight hours a day without feeling the tension. And honestly? It gets even worse when you realize they’re low-key dumping their entire workload on you—with the manager’s blessing, no less. Then comes the kicker: you realize you’re way more competent than they are. You see exactly how much they *don't* know—and how hard they're working to hide that total incompetence—and man... it just makes you want to scream.

Look, I just feel like there’s gotta be some kind of balance—like good and evil need to exist side-by-side to make sense. But honestly? It feels like lately, that scale has tipped WAY too far toward the dark side.

P.S. Gotta run, out of time right now. I'll hit you guys up once I'm back.
Reality is just a faded version of imagination in Philosophy ·
I can't think of a better way to put this, so here goes nothing;

Reality is basically just the tip of an iceberg—it’s only this tiny little slice of who we actually are. Most of it stays hidden beneath the surface, right? That's where the imagination lives, or whatever else you want to call that inner world that truly defines us—basically, how far we can reach with our minds and project that stuff into the real world.

All those visions and thoughts aren't physical things, but I don't buy the idea that they're just "stored" somewhere in our biological hardware. Might sound like some plot point from The Matrix, but I'm not really buying into that whole vibe.

I’m finally done being a slave to the banks—settled the debt, sold the house 😁
Being free... man, that feeling is priceless. I can actually breathe again!!! (It feels amazing)
Next step is packing up and heading back to the Midwest to be near my kid.🙂 I even have a little bit of cash left over
to pick up a decent gift.
It was a Long, grueling journey, but I pushed through and somehow found the light at the end of the tunnel. If only I’d had the guts to do this sooner.
Like some people here were saying: four walls aren't worth all this misery—and they were absolutely right!
Thanks to everyone for the support, the harsh critiques, the advice, the answers......

Congrats. That's the plan for me too, eventually. Things are a bit rougher on my end though. My bank won't even take my whole paycheck because, well, I don't have one right now—hopefully this unemployment stretch doesn't last forever, but hey, you never know how things go in this country.
