Dealing with smear campaigns
in Psychology ·
People go around tearing others down and treating them like absolute garbage on a daily basis, but if you ask me, all that senseless disparagement actually stems from a deep sense of threat or pure fear.
For instance, you see people lash out at someone just because that person possesses a virtue they secretly crave but refuse to admit they want.
Then there are those who target people for flaws they themselves used to struggle with, driven by nothing but their own anxieties.
Honestly, the absolute worst offenders are the ones who pick on the vulnerable or the misrepresented—they do it because they know those people can't fight back, thinking they'll always get the last word. It all boils down to fear and a total lack of self-esteem. The better your confidence, the less you feel the need to drag anyone else through the mud.
When someone truly has a solid sense of self, they don't go hunting for validation from the crowd, because that strength comes from within!
I guess "the best defense is a good offense," right?
