When it lists an expected duration of, say, 14 days, weekends and holidays are included—since some people actually work those days. So, no, they don't get skipped.

Thanks

Once my quarantine period ended, I told the doctor I was still dealing with dizziness, fatigue, and headaches, so they extended my leave.
The only time I actually ran a fever was one day at 99°F.

Sounds like you have a really good doctor then. 😉
Does sick leave cover Sundays too, or do they skip those like they do with vacation time?

As long as you’re still feeling crappy, you can stay on sick leave.
Once the symptoms clear up, then you've got 7 days.
It’s obvious she’s just handing out medical notes to her buddies while screwing everyone else over.

Like yesterday, I didn't have a fever at all, and now it's back. My doctor isn't actually seeing me, so she doesn't really have to take my word for it that I'm symptomatic. But hey, I guess I can try. 🙂

Everyone handles this differently; some people are back on their feet in five days, some need ten, and then there are those who... well, they don't make it, so frankly, you shouldn't care what your managers think.

Thanks.

At the office, just tell them plain and simple: your doctor has mandated isolation to prevent spreading it to others. You could even mention that local health authorities or even the police could technically check in to ensure quarantine protocols are being followed, so showing up to work isn't an option. Explain that it’s neither smart nor ethical to walk into the building while sick—not to mention that intentionally spreading an infection is a pretty terrible business strategy.
Unless your bosses are complete idiots, they should get the drift...

One more thing: you don't owe your employer proof of your illness. You shouldn't be handing over raw test results or swearing on your life that you're telling the truth. Your doctor handles the isolation period, the medical leave, the treatment plan, and interprets all the paperwork. It's their call. Your job is simply to follow the doctor's orders and hand your employer the official documentation—the standard excuse note. Personally, you're prohibited from deciding on your own (or listening to someone else's bad advice) to go into public spaces while sick. If your company has an issue with that, they can take it up with your physician, the CDC, or the President for all I care...

I officially started my leave today. My doctor told me I'm only covered for 7 days. I honestly thought it would be 10. Hopefully, I'll be recovered by then. Thanks.

Back when things were peaking, my doctor at the local clinic would just write me off for 10 days immediately—that was the standard then. These days, maybe they only do 7, who knows, but obviously, you can just extend it if you aren't feeling 100% after that first week.
Last time I dealt with this, my tenth day fell on a Thursday, so naturally, I extended it by one more day and just headed back into the office on Monday.

Honestly, my bosses at work are already breathing down my neck to get back. We work weekends and holidays here too, so there’s no downtime. It’s tough because they don't just take my word for it that I'm still sick after seven days. Neither do they nor my doctor unless she actually sees me in person. I really don't want anyone thinking I'm just playing hooky. I'm hoping they'll give me at least a full week. Does the count start from the very first symptom or from when you test positive?

First time dealing with COVID, and I didn't get the shot. How many days am I actually allowed to stay home from work? I’ve been seeing five days mentioned here, seven there, and some places say ten. Also, should I be filing for official medical leave or what?
