Accounting for Sole Proprietors: Tax & Bookkeeping Tips in Business, Accounting & Taxes ·
I’m looking at a capital expenditure—specifically, purchasing a truck for my small business. How exactly should I be recording this? I mean, it isn't an immediate expense I need to log in the P&L—since the actual cost hits via depreciation—but I still have to account for it on the balance sheet, right? Or am I overthinking this?
Reese, or someone else? Help me out here...

I went ahead and submitted the JOPPD form for my small business using today's identifier—16047—instead of yesterday's. Now, I’ve already received a notification stating that all the data is correct... so, what am I supposed to do? Should I actually try to go back and amend it, or just leave well enough alone?
I would truly appreciate some guidance here...

I didn't include those interest charges for the business owners in my KPI either—even though a colleague mentioned just the other day that they actually *do* belong there. What a mess.
I was reviewing the recent updates to the payment reference numbers for the self-employed contributions today. Every single one of them has been changed.

Fine... Look, I’m brand new to this whole field. Just two months ago, I started some professional training at an accounting firm, but now—get this—my colleague is moving to a different position, and suddenly I’m expected to take over all his small business accounts.

When exactly is the deadline for filing the DI form? I haven't even had a chance to sit down and look at what it actually looks like yet—but after reading through all your comments here, I’m starting to get a very interesting sense of how everyone is reacting to this whole mess.
