PhD Diploma help/questions in Miscellaneous ·
If you happen to know which university she got her PhD from or maybe even what year she finished, you can usually dig up a list of alumni and their dissertation topics on the school's official website. Some universities even host full digital copies of the dissertations themselves! As for anthropology, I’m pretty sure you'd find that program over at the College of Arts and Sciences.

Do you actually get some kind of official notice when your self-isolation period is finally up? I didn't even get a text message or anything, but instead, someone from the local health department gave me a call. And then, they called me just one more time after that. Oh, and the police stopped by once too.

Matthew Alvarez77 said:Honestly, it’s pretty fine to toss in some simple sugars—like dextrose or maltodextrin, for example—right after you finish training. It helps replenish those glycogen stores, and I guess that little insulin spike helps shuttle the protein you're drinking into your muscles more effectively. Just don't go overboard, that's for sure! Maybe just throw in a scoop of whey and half a scoop of dextrose. PS, if you're trying to cut weight, you'll probably be taking very little carbs, which I'm sure you already know, but maybe just keep them limited to your workout window. On non-training days, I wouldn't even touch them; I'd probably just stick to fats and proteins.
there you go, hope that helps! 🙂

But what if I can't really afford whey, dextrose, and all that stuff right now? Is there anything else I could use as a substitute? Thanks for the help!

Has anyone here ever worked with the Flamengo band over in Germantown? I’d love to hear what you guys think! Thanks so much for any info you can share.

So, I actually went to a wedding where they played, and honestly, I thought they were fantastic! I mean, the dance floor was absolutely packed the entire night. I can't even remember if they took any breaks or anything (it was a June 29th wedding this year). They played a bit of everything—everything from Madonna and Gangnam Style to traditional folk songs. My only tiny gripe is that things slowed down a little during dinner; they played a bunch of acappella groups and some slower tunes, which was a bit dull, but hey, we were eating, so we survived! We were pretty hungry anyway, haha. 🤣 I guess the newlyweds specifically asked for that acappella style because they wanted it for their first dance. Anyway, big thumbs up from me! Everyone else seemed really happy too.

So, I was at a wedding in Des Moines yesterday over at John Doe's Salon, and man, it was such a blast! Seriously, the venue was gorgeous—super spacious with tons of room to move around, and everything was just so clean and tidy. The staff there? Absolutely amazing. They were hovering just enough to make sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive, you know? And oh my gosh, the band was incredible! They kept the energy so high that people were dancing the entire night. They played a great mix of traditional tunes and everything else, too. They actually have a lead singer, which was a nice touch. The group is called "Wild at Heart," and even though they’re basically a rock band, they can play just about anything! If you want to see some shots of the place, you can find them on Facebook—just search for John Doe's Salon.
Can a name cause trauma? in Psychology ·
Back in elementary school, my last name actually gave me some real trauma. It was all thanks to this one history teacher who kept dropping these intense, post-war nationalist comments at my expense. I was honestly terrified that my surname would cause issues once I hit high school, but luckily, that didn't happen—things were totally fine there.
As far as my first name goes, it’s super common in jokes 😁 and I never really had any trouble or bullying because of it. If anything, people were constantly telling me jokes based on it! 😂
The real headaches started once I entered the workforce, though. Since I work in a school, the kids just don't take me seriously because of my name. It’s always like, "Wait, the guy from the jokes is our teacher?" When I was doing my internship during high school, word about my name spread pretty fast, but it was fine. I actually found it kind of funny myself; I never saw it as a tragedy when I’d introduce myself and people would laugh. I could just laugh along with them.
Now that I’m working in an elementary school, I can really feel the difference. I can definitely tell the kids are teasing me, especially the ones in the classes I don't teach, because I hear them whispering my name whenever I walk down the hallway. I know it might feel awkward for some, but it doesn't bother me anymore. When someone shouts a name down the hall to get someone's attention, ten people aren't going to turn around just because of me. It's my name, after all, and I actually try to use it at work whenever I can just to grab the kids' attention.
