Project: Find a Friend (Classifieds / Meetup Thread) in Psychology & Therapy ·
Here I am again; persistence eventually pays off, or so they say 😁. I’m still just a man, 28 years younger than most... hailing from Seattle.
I am looking for a woman for conversation or perhaps some companionship. Ideally, someone based in Seattle or the surrounding areas—that would make meeting in person much more feasible—though if we are just talking online, location matters very little.
I don't have a strict list of requirements since I am not searching for a life partner; even age isn't a deciding factor for me. That is entirely up to your own discretion.
Experience has taught me not to get my hopes up too high, but perhaps that simply means the right person hasn't come across this post yet. Be that person.

Hello, I am 28 years old and currently living in Cleveland.
To get straight to the point, I am looking for a female friend. Specifically, someone open to getting to know one another and eventually meeting up in person. In due time,

I am not offering anything groundbreaking—just the classics. Walks, grabbing coffee, hitting the cinema, or perhaps just passing the long, cold winter nights by sharing tea, sweets, and movies at my place or yours. If you struggle with social anxiety or tend to be more introverted, that is perfectly fine; I have my own quiet tendencies as well, so it is no issue at all.
As long as you aren't a danger to society, you pass my initial test. 🙂.

So, there it is. That is the short version.

Here is yet another inconsequential post

Is there anyone interested in going to Mother 28.5? It’s during Student Day, and while I’d love to go, my current circumstances mean I don't really have anyone to go with... For context, I'm a 28-year-old male living in Cleveland. That was the first part.

Secondly, I am looking for someone to hang out with in general. Just some casual drinks, a walk, or similar low-key activities. Maybe a movie. Or even just texting, if that’s more anyone's speed. I have a circle of male friends, but I find myself lacking female company (strictly platonic). I don't have any specific criteria; anyone is welcome to reach out. I won't go into exhaustive detail here, but I can provide more info via PM to those who are interested. I possess a relatively broad range of topics I can discuss, provided we aren't diving into strictly academic territory. I tend to be somewhat reserved and introverted, though I tend to relax once I feel comfortable. Honestly, this is meant to be my first step toward leaving the comfort zone I cling to so tightly, which has become somewhat of an issue for me. Blah blah blah... gender, age, and location remain the same. End of post.

GPU Buying Guide - (Read first post) in Desktops ·
Greetings, everyone.

A few days ago, my screen started flickering—just for a fraction of a second, occurring every few minutes. At first, I suspected my GPU was finally preparing to pass on to the great beyond, but the glitching subsided. Then, the following day, everything seemed fine for a few hours before the screen suddenly turned gray, marred by vertical black lines. I couldn't get it to boot again. In a moment of questionable judgment, I thought perhaps I just needed to clean out the coolers, assuming they were choked with dust. While working with a multi-tool, I managed to snap a small component... so even if the card wasn't dying before, it certainly is now. To be fair, I usually consider myself quite proficient with tools, but this was a lapse in judgment. RIP GPU. I would appreciate some recommendations for a replacement.

msi 970a-g46
amd fx-4170 4.2
corsair cx600
the deceased card is a sapphire radeon hd 7850 2gb ddr5

I am not strictly limiting my budget; I simply want the best performance possible for my setup.

Just wanted to let you know that I finally figured it out. After spending over an hour messing around with the SATA cable from the optical drive, everything is running perfectly fine. However, trying to use any of the vacant SATA ports? Absolutely nothing works...

Well, I'm not entirely sure if I actually wasted my money, as Adam Moore3 might suggest, but with 12GB of RAM and an SSD, the game runs on high settings much like it used to on low... My FPS fluctuates between 35 and 50, whereas on low settings it can climb above 100, or even hit 80 at its lowest... and that's all with FreeTrack running in the background; I haven't bothered testing it with FreeTrack disabled yet...

Larry Ortiz5 said:Try heading into your BIOS to see if the drive is actually being detected—and if it isn't set to AHCI mode, you should definitely switch it over to that. I mean, you're going to have to install macOS on it anyway, right? Once you get to the OS installation stage, the installer needs to be able to see the partitions on the drive so you can actually pick it as the destination for your installation...

No, I already have one of the 60GB drives with macOS installed on it

For titles like this, the most reliable route is just taking a Pentium G3258 and overclocking it to the heavens.

Don't take it personally; I'm just trying to squeeze out a smoother experience at higher settings. I picked up an extra SSD and another 8GB of RAM, though I can't get the SSD installed quite yet. As for the RAM, it looks like they were a dud—they kept throwing fatal BSODs until I pulled them out. I was aiming for 12GB, but it looks like I'll be stuck with 8GB for now. Once everything is actually functional, I'll report back with the results...

Greetings

I picked up a Samsung 870 EVO, hooked everything up, booted the machine, and confirmed the drivers are installed. Everything looks fine on paper, yet the drive refuses to show up in File Explorer.

It didn't seem like a major issue at first since I could locate it in the Device Manager. I went into Disk Management, selected the unallocated space, and attempted to create a new simple volume. I left the volume size alone, assigned it the drive letter Z, kept the file system as NTFS with default allocation unit size, and checked the box for a quick format. I hit finish, only to be met with an error stating, "The device is not connected," and just like that, it vanished.

Now, it isn't even appearing in the Device Manager anymore, unless I manually trigger a scan for hardware changes, which brings it back momentarily.

When I attempt to repeat the process in Disk Management, I'm greeted with: "The specified network resource or device is no longer available."

I have spent a significant portion of my evening chasing this ghost. I will admit, I am not exactly an expert in these matters, and I foolishly assumed this would be a straightforward task... Does anyone have any insight into what might be causing this failure?

P.S. If this is entirely my own doing, feel free to tear me apart...

Here I am...

Rather than quoting everyone individually, I'll just provide my answers to a few of the questions here...

I am currently working with a Seagate Barracuda 7.2k RPM drive, alongside a 60 GB SSD... and I have to say, the irony of my current situation is almost comedic. It turns out I am short by exactly 2 GB of space required to complete an installation on the SSD...

I have been giving some serious thought to picking up another 4GB of RAM... it’s definitely on my radar...

As I previously mentioned, I haven't encountered any issues up to this point. Titles like Far Cry 3, Dishonored, Tomb Raider, Hitman, Wolfenstein, and War Thunder all run perfectly smoothly without a single hiccup...

I have dialed almost everything in Microsoft Flight Simulator down to the absolute minimum—shadows, heat blur, water reflections, and visibility range are all set to low or completely disabled. I left only the textures on high, just to scrape together an unstable 30 FPS that fluctuates constantly depending on how I move my head... Looking up at the sky might bump me up to 70 FPS, but there’s zero texture or detail to actually look at. I had considered picking up a head tracker, but I think I'll hold off on that until I can achieve some semblance of stable frame rates on high settings, assuming that's even possible...

Greetings.

I am seeking some advice regarding a potential upgrade. My goal is to keep the process as straightforward as possible; ideally, I would prefer not to have to swap out my case just to squeeze new components inside. For the most part, I am satisfied with my current setup, but the primary driver behind this decision is that Microsoft Flight Simulator simply doesn't run smoothly enough for my liking.😵 Now we have a starting point.

Current specs:

CPU: Intel Core i7-3770K
Motherboard: MSI 970A-G46
GPU: GeForce GTX 760 2GB DDR5
PSU: Corsair CX600
RAM: 4 GB
Case: Silverstone PS02

Budget: $1333, though I might be able to stretch it to $1500, but that would be my absolute limit...

If there is any information I have omitted that you find necessary, I will provide it upon request.
