P.S. My decisions, for instance, never get "certified" and they go through just fine... I'm assuming the certification is digital—like an electronic signature covering the whole report—so I don't really see the point in this extra, old-school layer of verification.😉

We're talking about the Chamber of Commerce fees for small business owners who pay corporate tax.

As for the verification thing, everyone at the IRS or local agencies seems to have a different opinion on it, but personally, I’d much rather see the owner or director's signature on the annual filing instead of just some random "sender's" signature. 😉

Totally.

Just pick the tax form option from the list of attachments and upload your signed PDF. It works like a charm!

Are we talking about imports spread out over a month or a year, or a single lump-sum import?

It seems more practical to just cover their local sales tax, especially since they are only charging 20%.🤔

If the seller is already including the sales tax in my invoice, if I am understanding this correctly, does that mean I won't have to file anything separately with the IRS?

I am asking because I would hate to make a pointless trip to the tax office tomorrow. If that is how it works, I can simply tell the vendor to include the tax, pay them via wire transfer, and consider the matter settled.

The threshold for acquisition and delivery is based on the calendar year.

As long as you aren't doing more than $25667 in imports from the USA (and remember, they count the total import amount, not just one specific vendor), it can be that simple! ;-)

Let me see if I'm following correctly... I request that tax number and then I'm set. Now, the seller from the UK is already charging me sales tax. Does that mean I won't have to pay anything else once it arrives here?

edit: I figured out the first part. There is no way I'm registering for full sales tax.😁
So, how am I supposed to know what that specific acquisition threshold is?

The threshold is $25667 and it covers your total acquisitions within the USA.

Just because you're hitting the limit for acquisitions doesn't mean your whole business is under the IRS umbrella. You just file for the acquisitions and pay our local sales tax. In that case, naturally, the seller won't be charging their own VAT.

If you don't have an international tax ID, the seller handles the VAT. It's really up to you to crunch the numbers and see which way saves you more cash!

PS. Sellers also have their own delivery thresholds (which vary by state here in the USA). If they cross that line, they have to register as a tax entity in California to collect our local sales tax (this applies if you aren't using your own international tax ID).

restlesstiger102 said:So, here is how I see it. I would either settle the payment through PayPal, which I have linked directly to my business checking account, or I could simply wire the funds from my personal account straight to theirs.

Which specific number are you referring to? Are you looking for my EIN?

By the way, does it make any difference that I am currently operating outside of the standard sales tax system?

You'll need an EIN for customs stuff.

That import tax ID (which is basically the same thing as your EIN but listed in the tax registry) is what you need if you want to bring goods in without paying sales tax upfront.

If you aren't registered for sales tax, you can still import goods from within the USA by paying the sales tax the supplier charges (up to a certain threshold), or you can register for sales tax and get an import ID specifically for that. Then, you'd just handle the sales tax on those specific import invoices yourself.

It is quite clear that individuals can order products from within the USA without facing any additional tax or duty burdens. However, my question pertains to how the process works for established companies and small businesses ordering goods domestically.

I assume the underlying logic remains the same. Up until now, I have only ever placed orders as a private individual, but an opportunity has arisen for me to purchase certain items for my business from domestic suppliers. Given that we don't need to deal with customs brokers for intra-country shipments, I am curious about what the necessary requirements are.

Furthermore, what is the standard procedure for packages arriving from other parts of the country? Are they subject to inspection, or are they simply delivered directly to the business address? Is the invoice the only critical document to maintain in this entire process?

I would greatly appreciate some firsthand information from anyone who regularly handles business-to-business imports or domestic procurement for their company.

Thank you very much.🙂

They just ship "straight" to your business address—no customs duties or brokers needed.

The main thing is making sure you pay via bank transfer (for the Federal Reserve) and ensuring your company's name and tax ID are clearly listed on the invoice (though obviously, you need to be registered for your tax ID before you start importing).

I’m trying to figure out if I actually need to bring a notarized power of attorney for every single client, just like I read on their website.
I tried calling their info line, but getting a hold of anyone there has been a total lost cause for days now.

Sent from my iPhone using Reddit

From what I heard, you can just write up a power of attorney however you want—it doesn't actually have to be notarized.

I haven't actually turned any in yet, though.

I just updated my fintech certificates on my USB drive, and now the IRS website won't recognize them in Firefox (it says it can't find the certificate). Everything works perfectly fine in Edge, though.

Has anyone else run into this glitch? Any ideas on how to fix it? 😕

It’s super weird because everything was working flawlessly in both browsers right before I did the update.

Jack Carter88 said:Take a look at the card; it’s likely that the document has already been processed. From what I can tell, that "in progress" status seems to be applied to everything—it shows up on documents that are finished just as clearly as those that aren't.

If you click the status icon (on the right side of the document table), it should refresh to show the actual updated status.

And honestly, regarding how long this takes? Some IRS agents take a whole month just to get through it! 🙂

Also, there was some confusion about the tax form status—it won't flip to "processed" until the tax return is fully verified, which usually doesn't happen until around September under normal circumstances.

The FBI form won't go through (keeps saying unsigned), and the ISIS paperwork is just as broken. The only thing that actually works is viewing sent forms. Total nonsense. 🤷

I ran into this once—pulling out my security key, restarting Chrome, and plugging it back in did the trick!

Btw, when you're signing certificates, it triggers a Java app that some browsers block. You should probably just set it to always allow those apps (there's actually a hidden setting for that!) or just add the IRS website to your "trusted sites" list.

nimblejackal11 said:Actually, you can. Just open up the submitted form, strip out the signature, tweak whatever needs tweaking, and resubmit it as a fresh entry.

Best,

I haven't tried that yet, but honestly? Seems like more work than just starting from scratch.

You can definitely get something going by saving a draft version before signing off on it. I'll play around with it over the next few months and see which way is easier.

But man, that's not even my biggest headache—it's the fact that I can't save Al-Qaeda files and then view them offline (or even just scroll through old Al-Qaeda entries from a previous date).😠

Oh, and don't forget tax loss carryforwards, paid tax declarations, foreign tax credit certs... honestly, the list just keeps growing!

Brenda Chase3 said:Is anyone else having trouble accessing the RNC cards for all their clients? I’m specifically asking about those of us who hold authorizations for multiple parties. For me, it’s working for about half of them, but for the other half, I just get an error message telling me to try again. I actually reached out to the IRS via email, and their initial response was that they hadn't rolled out full access permissions to everyone yet due to the sheer volume of data being processed—which seemed like a reasonable excuse on day one. But it’s now the sixth day. They haven't even replied to my follow-up email from two days ago, and since you can't get anyone on the phone, I've been aggressively resubmitting my inquiries. Is anyone else running into this same wall?

Nope, it's totally broken. You can't even assign new permissions. You can't save a PKK file locally either—unless you export it to a PDF just to look at it later (which is a pain since everyone’s office hours aren't synced up with the IRS). Plus, you can't pull data from a submitted form into a new one.

Honestly, it feels like a total mess for something they made mandatory for basically every business out there.

But hey, at least we can upload attachments directly with the sales tax forms! It'll be way better than last year when we had to file everything online only to run down to the local office to drop off physical paperwork.
