Evening, everyone,
Has anyone here dealt with an expired digital certificate for the IRS portal before?
We didn't get any heads-up that the certificate was about to expire. We use the one provided on a security token from our business bank, and I tried logging into the IRS system today only to realize the certificate actually lapsed two days ago.

My bank told me to just reach out to them to sort it out, but I'm stuck wondering about the next step: once they issue the renewal, will I have to go through the whole registration process again for the IRS system, or does everything just sync up automatically once the new certificate is live?

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone here knows when the fiscalization certificate actually expires,
and how the renewal process works. Specifically, once you get the new certificate number, does that need to be manually entered somewhere within the
IRS system? Like, under the business premises data section or something?

Hey there,
quick question for anyone who knows their way around the books—when you're filling out the additional data columns for gross capital investments in fixed assets, should I be including buildings under construction? Specifically, I mean just the costs tied up in getting building permits sorted out.

Good morning!

We just received an invoice from a vendor over in Germany for a web application subscription, and it’s marked with a reverse charge note.
Since this is my first time dealing with an international vendor and the whole tax liability transfer process, I was hoping someone with more experience could point me in the right direction.
Specifically, what exchange rate should I be using when I record the service amount for sales tax purposes and when filling out the tax forms? Should I be using the mid-market rate from the Federal Reserve on the date of the invoice, or is there another standard?
Thanks in advance. Best regards,

All I see on the advance payment instructions is a German VAT number.

Good evening, everyone.
I’m looking for some expert advice or maybe just a sanity check from anyone who’s dealt with something similar. We recently had a supplier over in Germany require an upfront deposit as a condition for registering on their website and getting access to their databases—basically their product catalogs. Because our US tax ID didn't trigger the automatic system recognition, the vendor sent over instructions to pay the entire annual subscription fee upfront in USD, including a 25% sales tax markup. Since we don't typically deal with international vendors, this is my first time navigating this kind of mess, and I'm feeling a bit lost. What's the move here? Does this situation trigger a self-assessment requirement for state sales tax, and how would we actually calculate that 25%? To make things more confusing, we haven't even received a formal invoice yet—just those payment instructions. We went ahead and sent the funds in USD to get access, and now we finally have entry to the site and the catalogs we need for our operations. I’ve been digging through tax regulations to try and make sense of it, since I've never run into this before, and I stumbled upon a note suggesting that if a deposit is paid before the actual acquisition occurs, the obligation to account for tax might not kick in yet.

I’d really appreciate any guidance or pointers you can throw my way. Thanks in advance for the help.
