Why was the chat thread closed on USA? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Terry Walker74 said:Maybe we should just bake the mods a cake, send them a smiley face (😍), and then try begging them in the DMs.

The thread's dead because there's no point—regardless of how many people love this nonsense. 🙂🤷

The first chat thread got nuked because your own crowd flooded it with their brainless, chauvinistic outbursts. It all hit a breaking point when I dug up posts from one of them proving they're a professional troll—just like zabbbok pointed out.☕
It looks like the mods decided chat threads can't exist simply because a few people can't control themselves or hold a decent conversation. But why should everyone lose out just because two users can't act like adults? Just penalize those two—it's simple. Punishing the whole group for the sins of a tiny handful is lazy; targeting individuals instead of collective punishment is how things actually work.👍

I don't think the administration is playing games here.

Though—hey—we can always double-check. 🙂

I actually put this post together before I even launched the poll.☕

Should I start a new thread, or am I just fighting a losing battle for attention here?☕

Terry Walker74 said:Look, honey, I respect your sense of fair play—really, I do.😉 But I congratulated Frank Cruz2 when darkness was finally named after him, so it’s only right that he returns the favor now. 😁

Just asking you privately here—when the Bishop promised us the "mother of all battles" against the darkness, did you honestly expect anything other than this?😍

Anyway, gotta give it to the mods for making the right call: Keep it up, Watcher, you're doing great... 👍

The whole thing is shut down for completely different reasons than the ones you just laid out.☕

Look at these people... this chat clearly isn't built for your type.😉
Is it not obvious to you, Frank Cruz2?
All you can do now is go offer the Bishop some congratulations on his big win..🙂

The chat didn't close because of the Bishop—it closed because his crew lacks the basic skills to actually talk to anyone who doesn't think exactly like them.
☕ If a topic is actually relevant—and this one definitely was—you should be cleaning out the trolls, not nuking the whole thread. I'd bet anything that engagement on the USA boards is going to tank because of a call like this.
And one last thing—did I nail it on the first try regarding who actually pulled the plug?🤷😉

The reason you didn't know how to "chat" properly—you crossed the line so hard that locking this thing was inevitable.

Chatting just isn't your scene.

Smart, unknown, and this is settled—please lock.

So, because a few trolls kept spamming the thread, we're shutting down the whole room? Wouldn't it be fairer to just penalize the people actually wrecking the chat instead of killing the conversation entirely?🤷

I'm just wondering who actually put her behind bars—and what the hell their reasoning was.

I’m with you on all counts—this whole forum has turned into a weird, unrecognizable place lately.👎
Just looking at the first page, there are 18 different threads about Canada, which is just overkill—way too much.🤷
It feels like every single thread is being swarmed by random tourists who don't have a clue what they're talking about, just dropping stupid comments to start fights. Meanwhile, actual quality users—like the Inquisitor, who always knew how to actually contribute to a debate—get banned. I know for a fact that when I first joined this site, things were way better; we had fewer clueless outsiders, which definitely isn't the case anymore.☕
Sports Policy in Close to Politics ·
Since this is clearly a sports question—though honestly, it’s way more political than that—PBS is running a segment today on a regional soccer league. It'll be interesting to see what people in Mexico actually think, instead of just listening to the usual half-wits like Milojko Pantić.☕

Justice for the Mad House!!!😠
The only guy on this damn forum who’s never been banned...🤣
Larry Turner3 said:And 'put in' is simply a phrasal verb. Are we citing linguists now? 😉

Yeah, and so what?
Throwing a shoe at George W. Bush on American soil is considered an insult—not even a physical assault—and yet the guy still ended up with three years behind bars.☕
Larry Turner3 said:Heavy insults toward Putin. Do you actually understand English? It's not "we want to put in..." it's a strong statement... they don't want Putin, that's all. We never thought anyone actually wanted him or wished he was anywhere near them. Holy cow 😢, poor Vladimir Putin, his heart is broken...

Wait a second, then the song 'Oro' by Jelena Tomašević was also a political message. It says: wake me up on Vidovdan... aaaaaaa! Vidovdan! The Vidovdan constitution, the defeat at Mexico, the killing of FF... argh! Politics! Give me a break! 😠

Self-destruct sequence initiated.... 10, 9, 8, 7...

You're talking nonsense.😉
Vidovdan is a religious holiday, first and foremost. If we start banning Vidovdan, we might as well ban Christmas, Easter, or any other religious holiday mentioned in a song.🙄
Someone got three years in prison just for throwing a shoe at George W. Bush. So, what's worse—that, or getting banned from the Eurovision Song Contest for insulting a head of state?
hollowgardener912 said:Seems like this stuff only matters in Eastern Europe. But people there are also totally obsessed with politics (that song from Georgia wasn't picked by accident, even if it sucks even by Eurovision standards) and things would turn into chaos fast. Personally, I'd find it funny, but knowing the mindset in Eastern and Southeast Europe, people might actually get hurt. Wouldn't bet against someone in Moscow wanting to beat someone up over an insult to their favorite leader... not to mention what could happen in a "rematch" in Tbilisi if that Georgian song actually does well because of the political hype.

In Tbilisi, you’d probably just hear a Russian military band playing "warm greetings from Tskhinvali."😂🤣😂
hollowgardener912 said:Honestly, it wouldn't even be that bad if they just let that absolute idiocy fly. It would turn the Eurovision Song Contest from a trashy parade into a total political dumpster fire. I wonder what the Russian "response" would be? Maybe something like "Tralala-Lalili / you Can Suck my Shvilli"... What's next, though? Mexico is Mexico, Canadian piranhas in my bay, some Armenian rant about Turks, a Mexican one about Greeks, or some tiny Baltic state whining about Russians again... Pure chaos. Might actually make me start watching this circus...

🙏🤣
Imagine the Eurovision Song Contest being held in Tirana, and then having a Mexican act perform "Christ God."🙂

Larry Turner3 said:I suppose I should start by saying that I'm just sharing my thoughts here. Maybe it's worth considering.

There is always a first time for everything. It seems Kelly Clarkson has become a walking satire, but I suppose it doesn't matter to anyone else.

It doesn't always have to be a "first." Besides, trying to insult Putin right in the middle of Moscow would be a death wish. I’d let them sing, sure, but I’d tear down the barricades and hand out 50 free tickets to United Russia activists instead. Who cares, right? 👍But look, there are certain standards—things that just don't fit certain events—and stuff like this really ought to be banned. If Georgia is allowed to pull this, then everyone else will want to start using the stage for political stunts, and the Eurovision Song Contest will turn into something even worse than it already is—if that's even possible. ☕As for Kelly Clarkson, I've got nothing to say. (I usually don't bother commenting on those types.)🤷
Larry Turner3 said:How outrageous!

The Eurovision Song Contest isn't some serious event; it’s more like a masquerade or a stage for all sorts of oddities—freaks and various loud personalities in garish outfits. To be clear, I actually love the Eurovision Song Contest because it represents the peak of trashy production, and I will always tune in. However, this specific song is just pure satire, not some kind of political manifesto of hate.

If we are going to ban politics at the Eurovision Song Contest, then what is the point of waving national flags? I guess Europeans can be quite ridiculous sometimes.

And how many of those "satirical" acts have actually been boring as hell at the Eurovision Song Contest?☕

Nobody can claim to know for sure.
It’s like being in the middle of a battlefield-I used to have those lyrics right in my signature🙂-

that's just who our crew was.
Politics has no business being at Eurovision. If the Georgians want to push an agenda, they can take it straight to Tskhinvali—assuming they’re even allowed to go there.🙂
