They just barge in when you aren't asking, trying to convince you that you're somehow "broken" just so they can sell you their services... honestly, those guys are nothing more than low-rent snake oil salesmen.
Ignorance is that kind of "wandering lost," and there is absolutely nothing "low" about it.
Whatever happened to the idea of being "a light unto yourself"? Right now, you're sounding less like a guiding beacon and more like a flickering streetlamp with some serious self-esteem issues.😍
Remember the joke about Moe and Allah?😉
Here's what I call a true Zen joke:😁 😁
"Hey Moe, jump in the boat!"
- "No way, I swear to Allah. I'm a man of deep faith and Allah will save me."
Abraham says: - "Just wait on Allah then, you idiot." - and he rows off.
The water hits Moe's waist when Abraham comes by in a boat and says:
- "Hey Moe, jump in the boat!"
- "No way, I swear to Allah. I'm a man of deep faith and Allah will save me."
Abraham says: - "Just wait on Allah then, you idiot." - and he rows off.
The water reaches Moe's neck when Solomon pulls up in a boat too and says:
- "Hey Moe, jump in the boat!"
- "No way, I swear to Allah. I'm a man of deep faith and Allah will save me."
Solomon says: - "Just wait on Allah then, you idiot." - and he rows off.
Moe drowns and goes to Allah and asks:
- "Oh Allah. I was a man of great faith, so why didn't you save me?"
Allah looks at him and says:
- "Well, Moe, even I find this strange. Let me check my notes...
A-ha... Well, I sent you a boat three times and you turned me down all three times"
to save you.

They gave an answer, and now everyone’s turned into a complete donkey. 😁
Edward Flores4 said:I’ve gotta say, I’m feeling pretty uneasy about this—there’s this nagging suspicion that you’ve been totally compromised by the spiritual advice coming from some local guru. It feels like you aren't even realizing that you're stuck in this loop of completely broken rhetoric, the kind of stuff that fits Einstein's definition of insanity perfectly. You just keep spinning the same wheel over and over, stubbornly waiting for the exact same reaction to somehow—by some miracle, maybe?—produce a slightly different result one day. ☕
Only a dead guru is actually a good one. 😁
Edward Flores4 said:It’s honestly no surprise that satori is often described as "dropping the burden," and why it’s frequently accompanied by laughter. I mean, it really is kind of hilarious once you realize that everything was perfectly fine from the jump—the only actual issue was believing you had a problem in the first place, a problem that someone else, or some "holy book," promised could fix for you.
Look, there’s a perfect example right there where the language itself reveals the flaw... "the one who carries the body"... it sounds like some poor soul "trapped" inside their own sack of bones and meat, dragging it around like it's a punishment... as if the body and the soul aren't one and the same. It’s like treating them as two separate entities that are constantly bothering one another. It's pure schizophrenia.🙂
No, you just don't get what kind of "trapped" we're actually talking about here. 😉😁
placidharbor7 said:Everything we call a "fact" or a "belief" is really just a collection of words, thoughts, and lived experiences—basically, it’s all just us sitting around chatting! Even when we dive into deep topics like spirituality, isn't it all just part of that same human flow? When we open our mouths to speak, we're really just weaving together everything we think we know into something new. Isn't that fascinating?
"Lack of support" is really just another way of describing that sense of "emptiness" you hear about when people talk about New York City! I could go on about it forever!
It’s really only for those who have actually found themselves staring into that "void" at least once in their lives. I know, I know—it sounds completely illogical, totally senseless, and honestly, just plain empty. But isn't that exactly how it feels?
But seriously, what actually gives an Awakened person their credibility? Is it just that quiet hunch a Seeker gets—that nagging feeling that the Awakened is talking about something they’ve truly, undeniably "lived through"? It’s that sense that even if they can't quite pin it down into a news report or a detailed description of an "experience," there's still a profound truth behind their words. After all, isn't it the Seeker, rather than the Awakened, who struggles most with how to put those feelings into words? It’s that inherent leaning within a Seeker toward...
These "metaphysical" reports aren't just a mirror reflecting what's happening deep inside him; they also act as a bit of an incentive for the Awakened one to just keep rambling on forever! Honestly, it’s such a strange way to communicate, and unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any other way to go about it. Isn't it wild how that works?
Hey there, master! Just a friendly heads-up: don't forget that absolutely everything being said right now is a total lie.
What makes an awakened person convincing is
ONLY AND ONLY THE SEEKER !!!
If that seeker FEELS what the awakened one is talking about!!!!! In that moment, the seeker is essentially awakened too. They can feel it intuitively without needing anything to be clear; time passes until it clicks, until that specific "consciousness" crystallizes and they finally understand what the awakened one was getting at...
we could call it synchronicity...
A master's teaching is worth absolutely nothing 😁 in terms of one's own "experience" of emptiness, unless maybe it counts for him 😁—which would make it just as worthless as all the empty religions in the world. Take the Buddha, for example; he claims to have experienced something, and now people have been bowing to him for 2,500 years.😉
Master, don't forget—everything that is said is a LIE.
And Truth at the same time. 😁
If this specific shell (this little universe) weren't the way it is, it could destroy itself (from within itself)—meaning the mind wouldn't be indestructible (the consciousness), and everything mentioned in that book from the Himalayas in the first post of this thread could actually happen. But the "shell" of the "mind" is eternal, whereas "experiences of emptiness" DO NOT last forever, haha. So those are just experiences and lies (and truth) too.😲

Mr. Twain lingers a bit too long on that whole "dream" concept—honestly, it might have been better if he hadn't stumbled upon it at all!

So, what's this "stronghold" supposed to be?🙄
CHAPTER XI The MYSTERIOUS Stranger Mark Twain
For as much as a year Satan continued Thes visits, but eventually he started showing up less, and then—for a long stretch—he didn't show up at all. It left me feeling isolated and pretty depressed. I figured he was getting bored with our tiny little corner of the universe and might just ditch me for good. So when he actually showed up one day, I was thrilled—well, for about five seconds. Turns out he was just stopping by to say goodbye. One last time. He claimed he had business and projects in other parts of the cosmos that were going to keep him occupied way longer than I’d be able to wait around for him.
"So you're just leaving? Not coming back?"
"Yeah," he said. "We've been buddies for a long time, and it's been good—good for both of us. But I've gotta move on, and WE shall meet in another , surely."
"In this life, Satan? Or in another? WE shall meet in another , surely?"
Then, totally calm and dead serious, he drops this bombshell: "There isn't another."
Some weird vibe drifted from him to me, leaving me with this hazy, faint, but strangely hopeful feeling that maybe—just maybe—this crazy idea was actually true.
"You really never suspected this, Theodore?"
"No. How could I? But if it's actually true—"
"It is true."
I felt this surge of gratitude, but then doubt hit me and I choked it back. I managed, "But—but—we've seen that afterlife—actually seen it—so—"
"That was just a vision. It wasn't real."
My chest felt tight with this massive sense of hope. "A vision? A vi—"
"Life itself is nothing but a vision. A dream."
It hit me like an electric shock. My God! I'd thought the exact same thing a thousand times while I was brooding!
"Nothing is real; everything is a dream. God—people—the world—the sun, the moon, the whole damn galaxy—it's all a dream. None of it exists. There's nothing but empty space—and you!"
"Me!"
"And you aren't even really 'you.' You don't have a body, or blood, or bones. You're just a thought. I don't even exist; I'm just a dream—a figment of your imagination. Once you realize this, you'll stop dreaming me up, and I'll just vanish back into the nothingness I came from...
"I'm fading out already—I'm dying off. Soon, you'll be all alone in endless space, wandering through total solitude forever without a single friend or partner—because you'll still be a thought, the only thing that actually exists, and since you're a thought, you can't be destroyed. But me? Your lowly servant? I've shown you who you are and set you free. Go ahead, dream other dreams. Better ones!"
"It's wild! That you didn't suspect this ages ago—centuries, eons ago!—when you've been drifting through eternity all by yourself."
Honestly, it's bizarre that you wouldn't realize your entire universe and everything in it was just a dream or some work of fiction. It's weird because it's so blatantly, hysterically insane—just like all dreams are. Think about it: a God who can make good kids as easily as bad ones, but chooses to make the bad ones; someone who could have made everyone happy, but didn't bother making a single soul happy; someone who makes people value their miserable lives, then cuts them short without a second thought; someone who gives His angels unearned bliss but demands everyone else work for it; someone who gives His angels easy lives while cursing everyone else with mental and physical agony; someone who talks big about justice and invents hell—talks about mercy and invents hell—preaches the Golden Rule and forgiveness seventy times seven, and *still* invents hell; someone who lectures everyone else on morality but doesn't follow it himself; someone who condemns crime but does every single crime; someone who creates humans without asking, then tries to blame humans for what they do instead of taking the responsibility Himself; and then, with total divine stupidity, expects this poor, mistreated slave to sit there and worship Him! . . .
"You're starting to see it now—that none of this is actually possible unless you're trapped in a dream. You realize these are just pure, childish delusions, the nonsense of an imagination that isn't even aware of its own glitches. Basically, it's a dream, and you're the one dreaming it up. All the signs were right there; you really should've caught on sooner.
"Everything I've shown you is the truth: there is no God, no universe, no human race, no life on Earth, no heaven, and no hell. It's all just a dream—a twisted, ridiculous dream. Nothing exists besides you. And even you? You're nothing more than a thought—a drifting, pointless, lost thought, wandering aimlessly through endless emptiness!"
Then he was gone, leaving me completely shaken; because deep down, I knew—I fucking knew—that everything he said was real.
😁😁😁
mistybison said:Eventually, you will encounter "evidence" everywhere suggesting that the belief you currently hold as absolute truth is indeed reality. 🙂 This continues until the idea inevitably fades, making room for a new one, at which point the entire Universe seems to realign itself just to "confirm" your new perspective once again. It is a constant cycle. 😉
"Spiritual progress" doesn't necessarily mean repairing something broken; it can also mean upgrading, evolving, expanding, liberating, or any other transformation one might imagine. 🙂
That’s exactly how your own argument works, isn't it?😉
mistybison said:Don't you also believe in eternal life through your own lens—viewing the Universe or the mind as something constant that flows from dream to waking, from waking to dream, from life to death, and from death back to life?
I assume the book offers concrete instructions, but not just for the deceased, rather for the living as well.
It is believed that liberation exists, which is what The Tibetan Book of the Dead discusses and what we are debating here. 🙂
I can't believe it... I know. 😁😲😁
placidharbor7 said:Once someone truly recognizes confinement, they can't be considered MAD—it's everyone else who's lost it. placidharbor7 has argued so many times that consciousness is nothing but pure evil.
Reality is nothing more than a dream, and whatever you manifest with the full force of your soul will eventually come to pass. If an enlightened soul decides to snap Reality itself over their knee, they'll do it. And once they do, they'll vanish from it without leaving even a whisper of their existence behind.
HMM...😁
And what's left once it vanishes? But wait—that's impossible, right? The only thing that could actually happen is sliding back to that "old" state from before...
I mean—if an enlightened being's willpower is that intense, why aren't we seeing "miracles"? You know, guys who just conjure material objects out of thin air through pure thought. 😁
Or maybe my logic is just totally off base here... hmm. 🙄
But even the universe has its own "laws"—meaning the physical world has rules, which means Reality itself has rules...
So, let me get this straight. YOU—burdened by the weight of "consciousness" and this whole shell of a life—decide you're gonna snap Reality? Heh. 😁
But there is no existence outside of REALITY... and if there's no existence, then there isn't even an enlightened man. There is no existence outside of consciousness... hmm... WHO IS LEFT once Reality disappears?
placidharbor7 said:Why on earth would anyone be clicking away while in confinement?
Confinement is what provides the DATA—without that confinement, we wouldn't have any DATA at all! It’s such a brutal mechanism, isn't it?
The madman just laughs and cheers 😁
But I want to know about Icane and the DESIRE !!!!... you claimed up above that it's destroyed by a "desire"😲 for finality—can you actually explain that? What was the poet trying to get at here? 😁
Grace Bennett4 said:Why am I convinced my experiences are actual reincarnation rather than some other glitch? First, there's the sheer intensity of the emotions involved. Nothing in this life has ever hit me as hard as these memories of a previous existence. It isn't like remembering last summer in Florida; the mechanism is fundamentally different. These memories feel transcendent—like reliving an event or watching a film strip playing directly in your mind. Second, they provide a blueprint for my interests, my phobias, and those obsessions I've carried since childhood that I could never quite explain. Third, reincarnation just feels like the most logical progression of events.
My take is pretty simple: everything we experience that carries heavy emotional weight leaves a mark on the subconscious, the superconscious, or the soul—whatever you want to call it. That part of us is immortal; it persists long after our physical bodies give out. It holds the data of every lifetime—every love, every hardship, every moment that left an impression. In our day-to-day lives, conscious access to these memories isn't necessary—in fact, it would probably be a distraction. But occasionally, those deep imprints bleed into the present. You meet a stranger who feels hauntingly familiar, or you feel an instant, inexplicable connection—or total repulsion—toward someone. Or maybe it's an irrational love for a specific culture or a distant land.
But regarding this whole discussion on death, the most striking memory I have is actually experiencing physical death in a past life. I'll try to describe it as I felt it, though I can only say this: nothing I've experienced in this life felt as real as that:
and what technique did you use for regression? since you used some "hypnotist"
There was a segment about this on "Oprah" today 😁 it's not even funny... seriously... I turn on the TV, see Oprah, decide to change the channel, and then I see this guy on the show acting like he's some regression therapist who can send people back to their past lives to solve current problems by freeing them from old fears.
Does anyone know a high-quality professional in the US who actually does this?
placidharbor7 said:When the Master uses the word "sob," it’s pure poetry—it's just a placeholder for what's actually happening deep within his being, which is truly unspeakable.
That "sob" isn't caused by the stiffness of a physical body—it's the aftermath of the "ultimate possible insight." That insight is essentially an exile from this world and a realization of how purposeless the other side is. Honestly, illumination is boring; if anything, it’s devastating for our earthly existence!
The whole thing with the "flash" actually works the other way around—true understanding only comes *after* the "flash." What we usually see is the non-instructional kind, which happens much less dramatically. The "shell" isn't eternal—it shatters because of a longing for total finality, along with the awareness of being exactly what we are.
SO WHY ISN'T THAT POETRY CALLED "CLICK"? hehehe😁
I’m not talking about the rigidity of the "physical body as such," but rather the very nature of the MIND itself (meaning the givenness of everything within the mind), that eternal "contamination" of consciousness...
today's reality, for instance, is just a "rigid physical body"...
usually, it's just the constant sensation of a rigid physical body.
Quincy:
| "The shell" isn't eternal—it shatters because of the desire for total finality, along with the consciousness of Being itself. |
AFTER realizing the "eternity" of the mind as it is, what possible desire could ever return things to the OLD WAY?
Consciousness doesn't come from BEING (individuality); rather, Being is distinct from consciousness, from the MIND (the universe).
HOW IS IT EVEN POSSIBLE to break and destroy the SHELL and consciousness???
A DEAD being cannot exist!!!! DEATH doesn't exist; death exists only through its own non-existence!!
The MIND exists and ALWAYS EXISTS in the form of a shell!!!!
The UNIVERSE (MIND) exists THROUGH the shell!!!!
THE SHELL is the nature of the mind!!!!!
THE SHELL IS THE MIND (universe) 😁 😲!!!!
The shell is the MIND and the MIND is the shell!!!
placidharbor7 said:It’s all just one big, messy soup, isn't it? Eternity and the blink of an eye are essentially the exact same thing. Honestly, the only real joy is stumbling upon this place and listening to the endless chatter of unrefined personalities. Actually, scratch that—is there even any real joy to be found here? Maybe not. All that's left is the OOOOOOMMMMMMM and the wailing of whoever is chanting it.
but if wailing is an "invention"🙄, then why can't "joy" be one too?
Someone whose life is actually full... someone who feels joy or grief... they don't have the "time" to sit around wailing about their "eternity"🙄
Wouldn't that wailing be a lot softer if we didn't have these rigid, heavy physical bodies stuck in time and space? Heh..
Has anyone EVER been bored in a dream (when there's no body and no limits)???!!!
John, wouldn't the realization that the "shell is eternal"... and the realization of that wailing... be the TRIGGER for that flash of enlightenment YOU experienced???
placidharbor7 said:There is no "why." And who's to say if the universe is actually being cruel to you or not? One thing is for sure: you definitely ARE.
Okay, so I expanded the text above... I have this habit where I'll write a post and then edit the damn thing 250 times whenever I remember something else. 😁
The whole UNIVERSE is just one big mess—why even bother trying to tell them apart?😁
placidharbor7 said:You’re talking about an unawakened mind, placidharbor7. An awakened one? That person is the most miserable of all when they realize that nothing—absolutely nothing—is meant to last forever.
But I still don't get why it works that way?🙄
Heh, isn't the universe being a little cruel to me? 😁
If I look at this whole thread and everything said here... the only thing that makes sense is what "Ramana" claimed—that even "his cow is enlightened." Basically, isn't that just what those Eastern texts call the "state of a cow"? Isn't it better to have the fate of a "being" that actually lives a FULL LIFE? For a cow, that's a field of grass; for a human, it's obviously way more than that. It's about someone who just lives through life, fully immersed in it, without constantly questioning everything...
That's just how the nature of the "universe" is—it just *is*, without asking questions. Besides, the whole act of "searching for truth" only happens because of some stimulus and "not knowing your own perfection." Once a being realizes they are eternal and indestructible—whether through logic or deep experience—that's when the real SHITSHOW begins. The only way out is that original state, where you lived your life and DIDN'T ASK A SINGLE QUESTION about God or whatever else.
Is there any other way out of this "life equation"? Other than suffering or "forgetfulness" (just being lost in the moment, like you seem to be)
mistybison said:It doesn't matter. As Jason Johnson4 points out, the book is intended for the living just as much as it is for the deceased, serving as a sort of manual for achieving "liberation." 🙂 The book itself isn't nearly as vital as the actual state of "liberation." It simply served as the inspiration for me to finally open this discussion I've been contemplating for some time.
That sounds like someone who is truly losing their grip on reality. kaže:
It is absurd to try and process this through pure intellect, because the issue isn't actually about intelligence. There is no entity involved—or rather, any entity perceived is merely an intellectual construct, which means it cannot truly be called an "experience of an entity." It isn't just a matter of memory, either; essentially, it is simply a mirror being turned within the mind. Forever. Once you find the right path, the search for individual "liberation" simply ceases to exist, leaving behind a permanent consequence. From there, you see how those "infinite contents" arise; they aren't actually in contradiction with that state. They aren't a problem.Maybe Master John knows more about this. I am still quite inexperienced. 😬
It is likely that we are all quite inexperienced on this topic. 😁
In my experience, it is quite simple to view "reality"—the distinction between "self" and "non-self"—as a single, unified whole that simply "unfolds." From this perspective, one can experience a true mental tranquility, characterized by a release from the constant cycle of questions and answers and a genuine lightness of being. 🙂 However, I don't view that as the kind of "liberation" you’re describing, nor is it what the Tibetan Book of the Dead refers to. Honestly, I can't quite wrap my head around what this version of "liberation" actually entails—who exactly is being liberated, or what specific shifts are occurring within the mind. I suspect that discussing or overanalyzing this topic might not lead us anywhere productive, but we can certainly give it a try. 🙂
Do you have any approximate experiences regarding this matter?
Quote: Grace Bennett4
It is comforting, as it allows you to grant yourself the conviction of eternal life. 🙂A person is at their happiest when they believe in something eternal, regardless of the form it takes. 😉
Thank you for these insightful posts. 🙂 I am glad this topic prompted you to return to 'Spirituality.'🙂
Eternal life = eternal suffering. 😲😁
Look, it doesn't even last eighteen hours—you just sleep every single day. It’s basically nothingness outside of time and space... if you don't count dreams, obviously. Just pure dreamless sleep.
Imagine if you could never fall asleep... you'd lose your mind in a heartbeat. This isn't just some logical conclusion—it’s a fundamental truth.
Christians and anyone else who thinks they believe in eternal life have absolutely no clue what kind of HELL we’re actually talking about!!!!!
Master John said:I feel like I'm stuck in this endless, foggy haze—just constantly screaming for finality, not some vague idea of "liberation." That total end of the physical and the mental, where nothing is left behind and there are zero memories... to me, that’s the only real "nirvana."
😁
Edward Flores4 Asks:
Back in my day, we just called that... having a wild imagination. 🙂
Maybe you're just "reading" from some collective memory and convincing yourself it was actually your "past life"?
The golden rule for any decent discussion? If you don't want to talk about it—don't even bring it up. Period.
I’ve got physical proof right here that God created the Earth in three days—but I’m not showing any of you right now. 🤷
What’s even the point of a debate like this? Maybe just to see who has the more vivid imagination... ☕
In the realm of "universal consciousness," there isn't really an "ME" or a "YOU"... what exists is just so-called "information"—basically, a record of events from past lives.
It doesn't even matter—whether it's mine or yours.
mistybison said:The Tibetan Book of the Dead describes this exact process as "liberation."
Suppose such an "liberation" is experienced by an "entity"—regardless of whether that entity exists in a material, astral, or any other form. Wouldn't this liberation simply be yet another experience in a long series of experiences for that entity? If both diversity and the perceiver itself are lost, only to return to a previous state, then "liberation" immediately becomes nothing more than a memory. Furthermore, if the entity undergoes a sort of fragmentation during this state of "liberation"—which is a clumsy way to put it, but I hope it makes sense—then since there is no longer a self, there is no subject capable of actually experiencing that liberation. Ultimately, "liberation" is either a mere recollection of the true nature of things or total annihilation. The very idea of "being liberated," or "residing in a state of liberation," is quite absurd.
I have no idea how the Tibetan Book of the Dead came to be, though I imagine it was developed through various experiments conducted by ancient Lam Anagarika Govindas.
What exactly happens when someone survives death—do they transition to the next level, or do they gradually fade back into the Maya?
That is the fundamental question. 🙂 If our current existence is merely an illusion, then a true reality must exist beyond it. This is where most people diverge in their convictions: some believe it is God, others posit it is "nothingness," while some argue that what we experience right now is the only absolute truth. This fundamental premise serves as the bedrock upon which all other beliefs, spiritual teachings, and religions are eventually built.
Even if there were a direct hotline between the living and the dead, I struggle to see what could actually survive death while still being identifiable as an individual, a distinct identity, or any kind of autonomous entity.
If we look at the Tibetan Book of the Dead and similar teachings, there is the concept of an "astral body" that exists for a time after death as a blueprint of the physical self. This mental body holds one's memories, karma, and personality traits. It eventually begins to dissolve—similar to how some American traditions observe a forty-day period following passing—until the essence of the being moves toward its next incarnation, shaped by previous karma. States like heaven, hell, or judgment experienced during this transition are simply reflections of one's own psychological state. According to the Tibetan Book of the Dead, those who dedicated themselves to spirituality during their lifetime are spared the more harrowing experiences in the Bardo realm; even without achieving full liberation, their transition between lives remains smooth, peaceful, and joyful.
ps: even though I "challenged" some of your points, I only did so to highlight certain questionable details within that concept. Looking at our discussion, it seems you are already aware of most of those issues. Please don't view this as an attempt to argue, offend, or be verbally aggressive. 🙂
Not at all! We are simply discussing ideas. 🙂
That is merely one possible belief; it is quite logical and comforting, which makes it appealing to the mind, but there is no way to know for sure, let alone prove to someone else that it is the absolute truth. 😉
but that isn't comforting AT ALL 😉🙄 it’s actually terrifying 😁
placidharbor7 said:placidharbor7, you're totally overlooking the fact that everything is already enlightened. Because of that, no kind of differentiation is actually possible—are you really trying to be that serious?
You started this whole thing with your premises about an enlightened being reaching infinity... so why don't you go ahead and finish them with mine? 😉😁
