Well, I've totally paid mine off, and honestly, if you play nice with them, they'll usually be cool with you too since you know what you're getting into from the start, so it's really just up to you how you want to handle it.

But that was three years ago—who knows, things might have changed since then
As for the fees, I ended up paying 6% plus an extra 1%
That 6% covered everything—lawyers, contracts, translations, processing, site visits, and all their internal overhead—and the 1% went to the broker who handled the whole loan for me
Now, if you want to save that 1%, be my guest and handle the entire headache yourself
Regarding the property itself, mine had an existing lien, but I cleared that right up using this mortgage
It was a smooth process, no issues at all
