Is the big tent getting too crowded?
in Politics ·
I’ve been watching the local election results lately, and it feels like the old guard is really starting to sweat. It’s getting harder to tell where one side ends and the other begins. For a long time, it felt like there was a clear consensus on the "mainstream" approach, but now it seems like there's this massive, growing push for something much more radical.
I used to think the goal was just to keep everyone under one big umbrella to maintain power, but that's getting harder to do when people are pulling so hard in opposite directions. It feels like we're heading toward a massive splintering. If the party tries to hold onto everyone, they might end up representing no one. On the other hand, if they pivot too far, they might alienate the very people who built the foundation.
Do you think a political party can actually survive this kind of internal identity crisis, or is a total split inevitable at this point?
