I think it’s pretty tasteless to throw around accusations of fraud without any actual proof.
I’ve seen people on other forums attack families using the exact same logic, claiming they’re just exploiting a child’s illness for profit—which honestly made my blood boil since I actually know the family in question.
Look, nobody is forcing you to donate, and nobody is stopping you from asking for help if you need it yourself. The family I’m talking about stayed completely anonymous, yet they still managed to raise a massive amount through donations for medical care.

It’s just as possible you waited that long as it is that someone else waits much longer. In our healthcare system, anything is possible.
I had a situation where I needed more than just testosterone—I needed all my sex hormones, thyroid levels, plus FSH and LH. You wait way longer for those.

I had that done a few years ago, though I can't say for sure if it actually worked. $50 Or? $83 Regarding hormones... I needed some tests for my sex hormones and thyroid levels. If I recall correctly, the total bill came out to about... $400So there were about six or seven hormones involved... so maybe that's actually something to consider? $50..??

An OB-GYN can write you a referral for sex hormone testing. Or, you could just head to a private lab and pay about $83 per test. 😁 You'll get the results right away..
Otherwise, you can sit around waiting months for an appointment

The issue is that since Medicare technically covers this procedure, you have no grounds to seek funding for it abroad unless you pay out of pocket.
They were hoping Nicole's sister would be a compatible donor so they could just do the surgery here, but unfortunately, she isn't a match. Now they have to find an unrelated donor, which won't happen in the US anytime soon... our system is still in its infancy regarding this. It actually occurred to me that I should go donate blood just to make sure I'm in the registry...
The other problem is that our hospitals lack everything from the right equipment and meds to enough specialists in this field. Not surprising, really, given how few cases like this pop up in America every year (there are different types of leukemia, and Nick has the toughest one😢—plus, this disease tends to recur, which makes things even harder)... basically, our doctors just don't have enough experience. Even with what little experience they do have, the success rate isn't great. It’s especially sensitive because it’s a child, and I heard that after the surgery, there aren't even pediatricians on the ward, just internists. Quick, decisive action after surgery is everything. If they left him here, I think they'd practically be signing his death warrant. Whatever. We were a poor country, and the American healthcare system doesn't see much point in investing in something it won't benefit from...
I don't think any parent would leave their child to be treated under these conditions; they'd try everything to secure the best care. This diagnosis is brutal enough as it is, even for top-tier clinics. There are statistics for successful transplants—the percentage isn't massive, but it's not so low that you'd give up. But again, those stats apply globally, not specifically to America...
Except those quotes from foreign hospitals are terrifying. One clinic in Germany sent a quote for 300,000 euros.😲
Luckily, there are some that are "only"😁 150,000 to 200,000 euros.
