Getting a loan through an Austrian bank in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
swiftcyclist58, thanks for the links. You're spot on—better to be broke than dead in a ditch. It’s a total disaster out there; feels like theft is everywhere you look. Thanks again.

Dear Anavair, it’d be pretty ironic if I told you, "Hey, look, I'm not the only one going through hell right now." Honestly, I'm just glad you get it. We need this loan; it's not even about some massive pile of cash. My husband and I are in our fifties. People are probably thinking, "What were they doing all those years if they're stuck looking for outside financing in their fifties?" Well, yeah, we worked. We worked for renovations that never got paid for, lawsuits that just drag on forever, and since we're cooperative partners, our former employers either went belly up or ended up behind bars long ago. We paid our dues, only to find out we can't even get a loan from our own bank to upgrade our production and hire two or three people. Ten years ago, we had nine employees. Believe it or not, every morning they'd show up to coffee, and at noon, they'd have lunch I cooked myself while juggling three little kids. I handled all the paperwork solo. That's how I was raised—believe that you only get somewhere through honest work, and that I could show my kids by example that hard, HONEST work is the only way to make it. Now, when I can't even dream of hiring someone for half an hour because I can't pay them, the five of us—my husband, our three girls, and me—just jump on the machines. No shame in it, we do the heavy lifting ourselves as much as we can and handle the assembly. We aren't, and never were, some big-shot tycoons. For 50 years, this family I married into has lived off wood, dust, and sweat. And trust me, nothing beats the face of a happy customer, but nothing's harder than waiting on your money and having to fight and argue just to get what's yours.
I’m gonna be careful (not saying you weren't), but we really need this credit. I have to fix the workshop because the roof is leaking, and it's packed with machinery—I'm terrified the moisture is going to cause some serious electrical issues. My head is spinning with all this info about loans and I don't know what to do. I need this, and I need to act. Thanks for the support and for sharing your experience with me and everyone else here. You know, I remember my granddad used to say, "When things get bad, hang in there, because it's only going to get worse." Well... God help us, I hope he was wrong. It's gotta get better.

Hey everyone, look, I hear you and I appreciate the advice. But my situation is a bit different. My husband and I both run our own small businesses, and we're currently blacklisted because of some overdraft issues on our checking accounts. We don't actually have any personal loans, but since we're paying off debts for others, we can't even get a clean report from the Red Cross. That’s why we were thinking about taking out a mortgage on our property—to clear everything out, finish the attic for our daughter, and finally get the workshop covered. That's the long and short of it. Honestly, thank God I had a moment of clarity and didn't fall for those predatory offers from the brokers. I've been in business for 20 years, and trust me, you have no idea what we've dealt with—from unpaid renovation costs to everything else. We're in manufacturing; this family business has been running for 50 years. Both my husband and I are highly educated in the same field, and our middle daughter is studying the exact same thing. Our oldest is finishing up her law degree, and our third is a junior in high school. If we have one flaw, it's that we're too honest, and that's exactly why we're stuck in this mess. I just want to live an honest, decent life off the work of my own hands.

Thanks a lot. I’ve been hunting for an overseas mortgage for a while now because getting one here in the States is impossible thanks to the Red Cross and all those endless blacklists. But honestly? I wouldn't give a single cent to anyone upfront. Crime in this country is blooming like nowhere else in the Western world. It feels like everyone just jumps at the chance to exploit an impoverished, struggling population. They should round up that whole gang, pay back the victims, and throw those thieves in jail—or better yet, sentence them to community service with nothing but one diet meal a day. People are so desperate, robbed blind, and left totally unprotected that they end up looking like fools by falling into even bigger... well, I won't go there. Most likely, they borrow money just to hand it over to scammers, while the people actually holding the cash just walk away clean. Man, if I had just five minutes of power, or whatever the phrase is...

Hey, can someone help me out? I haven't picked up a copy of the New York Times since Saturday, so if you could just drop the link or the headline for that article, I’d appreciate it. I've been digging around online but I'm having zero luck finding it. Thanks in advance!

Good grief, Jesus, and God help me, I’d honestly rather go broke and drown in debt than let someone screw me over this shamelessly. I can't believe this, Raymond Bishop41. You shouldn't be left totally stranded if you actually have the receipts showing you paid off your loans. Go to Washington or something and get some help—seriously, people need to step up and help Raymond Bishop41 find a way out of this mess. There’s gotta be lawyers or legal experts on this forum who can weigh in. It’s a total disgrace to cheat people like this. Just awful, absolutely disgusting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Once I finally pulled my act together and sent over all my paperwork, that broker never even gave me a ring to tell me where my loan stood. When I finally pushed back, I got a number for the main coordinator, who basically told me the property was "nothing" and that I didn't qualify. See, before that, I was in a legal dispute with a client of our firm, so I decided to tell the judge about this whole credit situation. He actually found it pretty interesting and suggested I go to the Department of Justice, or call JPMorgan Chase in Salzburg to report the guy I handed my papers to. So, I called the Bank, spoke in English, and they patched me through to Christina, who speaks both German and American English, and I laid out the whole story from start to finish. I gave her names, addresses, and phone numbers for the guy I'd dealt with. Less than half an hour later—get this—my broker calls me for the first time in six months, acting like I'm the villain, practically crying about what I'd "done" to her. All I did was mention I was thinking about heading to the DOJ to spill everything, but my husband calmed me down, so that was that. And for anyone claiming the Bank won't give info on brokers: total lie. Listen to this: about a month and a half ago, a lady from the Bank I'd "snitched" on called me to see if I was still interested in the loan. Once I said yes, she gave me a contact for a guy from Cleveland. Two days later, he shows up at my place, checks out the property, and goes over the docs. A week after that, my phone rings. This guy tells me, "Tomorrow at 11:00, Andrew, a manager from Austria, and I will be coming by. Please make sure someone is home." Sure enough, at 11:00 sharp, a car with Salzburg plates pulls up. They walk through our workshop and the property, and the guy takes notes. Since it was right before Christmas, he tells me we'll touch base on January 29th after the credit committee meets. That's it. Now I wait. Just go to the bank yourselves or call them; the people there are actually nice. Even if they reject you, you'll know in two weeks, not six months. If it doesn't work out, at least you'll save money on phone bills and keep your sanity, because these subordinates dole out info like it's top-secret government intel instead of your own damn loan. They act like they're doing you some massive favor. Don't fall for it, guys. It's a trap.

Forgot to mention—he told me they wouldn't be back in action until the 20th because of some internal audit.

swiftcyclist58 said:And for heaven's sake, the bank isn't called Salzburg, that's just the location; their legal representative is based solely in V, and the bank itself is Citigroup, which is part of the JPMorgan Chase group, so now you all know the truth!!!!!!!! And don't bother going through any other brokers because they are all running scams. As for the other JPMorgan Chase branches, you could count them on one hand—those that actually finance America—and yes, it's true they pick their locations, and it's also true, I repeat, that only a handful of people actually run those branches across the entire US, and they aren't financing the Midwest, Appalachia, Yellowstone, the Central Coast, Kansas, or Oklahoma, NO, they only focus on the primary coastal regions and major cities in the SZ area, and that has been Stopped!!!

Anyone here dealt with microfinance lenders that actually approve loans for people who are basically walking credit disasters?

So, I just got an email from Wells Fargo in Salzburg. They’re basically saying they aren't approving any more loans for the US right now because people haven't been paying them back.

😕

Hey everyone, has anyone here—or anyone you know—actually managed to pull off one of those "special" loans? I’ve been grinding on this forever and getting absolutely nowhere. I send all my paperwork to the broker and then just sit there waiting indefinitely. Right now, I'm stuck in limbo. I can barely get any info from the bank about when they're actually coming out to do the site visit. Honestly, I don't know if I'm just being played, if I'm being naive, or if I'm just an idiot. Maybe it's all three. Just tell me—has anyone actually closed one of these deals yet?!😕

Help! I’m trying to land a mortgage through Chase. We’re putting up a property in San Jose as collateral. My husband and I both run our own small businesses, but we basically pay the bare minimum on taxes/contributions, and honestly, we haven't been super consistent with it. I’ve already wasted months dealing with two different brokers who just dragged their feet with endless excuses until nothing came of it. Now, we actually really need this loan, so if anyone knows a solid professional who can actually get things moving, please let me know. I see some of you guys managed to pull off your mortgages, so any leads would be huge. Thanks in advance! Just one more thing—the property paperwork is totally clean and has zero liens on it.
