I honestly couldn't care less about his private drama. I never met the guy in my life, let alone knew him well enough to pass judgment.

To me, he was just an incredible actor. Until he passed, I didn't even realize he had a partner and three kids. If I really wanted to make the case—and I suppose I could—there’s that old correlation between substance use and artistic drive. Some personalities just function that way; for most people, unless they're rare talents, those things are almost essential to stay authentic in their craft. But look, what someone does in their own time is their business. I don't think any of us have the moral high ground to judge anyone else's choices, especially someone we never even met. This isn't a jab at the resident moralists—just a thought.

I was genuinely shaken by the news of his passing—it hit me like a ton of bricks. Honestly, this is the saddest thing I've heard all year; I can't remember the last time a death in Hollywood actually got under my skin like this. The guy had incredible talent—you could tell how much he loved the craft—but he also seemed like an extremist, the kind of person who goes all in and struggles to find a middle ground. I don't know what pushed him toward heroin, but it’s just heavy. And look, I wouldn't say he was limited to playing creepy predators or oddballs. His range was massive—he could pivot from comedy in Polly to heavy lifting in Master, Doubt, Capote, or Red Dragon. He was one of those actors who didn't constantly hog the spotlight—maybe because he stayed out of the tabloids or lacked that typical celebrity ego—but now that he's gone, you really start to feel the void he left behind.
